Chapter 419 – Tiamat
Aphasia’s attack was simple but harrowing enough to cause massive destruction.
There was one thing that all people knew but somehow most forgot because of how little their presences were.
But Spirits were everywhere inside this universe. There was hardly any place — most probably some forbidden zone — that those little fairies couldn’t access.
It should have been a main concern for anyone sensible enough, and yet none seemed to care that much. After all, the spirits were — by nature — peaceful beings that only lived their lives aimlessly without bothering anyone.
They were very much like their Progenitor.
But that day, Aphasia would go against that common belief. Something that would have quite an effect in the future.
But for now…
Aphasia had used all the fire spirits she could control inside the dragon world and gave one single command:
“Ignite.”
And the world ignited, shrouding the whole world in crimson devouring flame.
Cries of pain echoed, and the world itself seemed to quiver at the blinding explosion.
Without waiting any single more second, Aphasia and Emmie propelled themselves toward the draconic world, intending to finish the fight in one go.
And yet…
They were facing a direct descendant of a Progenitor. One who held the Origin of Speech and the one of Snakes.
And like any being inside this universe knew…
“Rewind.”
A soul-wrenching voice boomed through the void like a cursed echo.
…words had power beyond one’s understanding.
The whole attacks of both Emmie and Aphasia were reversed by the simple utterance of “Rewind” from Tiamat, The Dragon Princess.
In one instant, the world became as if it had never been attacked.
There, the sisters began to feel something wicked slithering inside their hearts. Something poisonous. Something that could consume one’s very being.
Fear. True fear.
Immediately, Emmie and Aphasia stopped in their tracks, feeling the danger of approaching. They managed to stop just a couple of steps before entering the territory of Thiam — the world’s name — their hearts racking their chests in a crescendo.
They had deeply felt the power behind that single word, and that was one worthy of chills.
Unconsciously, they shrouded their bodies with their Laws, sensing something dreadful coming their way.
And indeed…
“Why stop outside? Come inside, little ants.”
At the voice, Emmie and Aphasia found their bodies wanting to enter inside the world and obey the words of Tiamat.
They applied more of their Law and strength to deny the effect of the dragon’s power. And yet…
“I said…”
The sisters trembled.
“…come inside, ants.”
Their bodies blurred and slammed onto Thiam, then dived deep inside the world at a speed faster than light.
“Fuck!” Emmie cursed, realizing their harrowing situation.
Aphasia, too, began to glimpse the power of their opponent. This was far above what they had expected.
Facing such an ordeal, “Let’s take our form and use Vael’s language!” she cried while still flying downward, the wind slamming against her face so hard her skin was being slashed apart.
She cursed and activated her transformation.
Emmie did the same, not waiting in the slightest.
Just at that moment, they slammed onto something hard. So hard that they felt some bones inside their bodies creak then crack viciously.
A jolt of pain pierced their bodies sharply before it disappeared with their transformation now complete.
“Ah…” Emmie barely stopped a curse from escaping as she slowly stood up.
Putting her hand on the ground and propelling herself back up, she couldn’t help but think briefly how strange the floor felt.
Her appearance was now fully in view. Her twin horns were strange, shaped like the dollar sign, made of the purest gold this universe had to offer. It was so bright the space itself was illuminated by them.
Her wings spread wide and tall, made of the same gold as her horns, dripping with soft golden dust.
The Vael language was now fully activated, giving her a huge amount of power.
Aphasia at her side was the same. For her, both her horns and wings were made of newborn spirits with no consciousness. They were of multiple colors, making it quite a sight to behold.
“Where—!”
“Quite bold to stand on me.” The voice reverberated once more.
The sound this time was billions of times worse now that it was so close, yet they managed to withstand it thanks to their Elysiari form.
Instantly, they flapped their wings and took to the sky, before looking beneath them.
Their hearts skipped a beat.
“Ah fuck! Did Noah want to kill me?”
“…” Aphasia was speechless.
Beneath them was a dragon. A pristine, immaculate white dragon with purple slitted eyes looking at them with both arrogance and curiosity.
The size of the dragon was… immense. No, it was colossal and apocalyptic. And the wave of power emitting from it alone was enough to destroy billions of mid-ranked worlds and thousands of high-ranked ones.
They felt the weight of her purple eyes upon them. The weight of time, the weight of experience.
They were completely crushed. Emmie even more as she faced those eyes that had witnessed an uncountable number of the births of civilizations and their eventual ends.
Without forgetting she had caused the death of many of them.
It was the sight of one who was born at the top of the universe. One whose every word could collapse galaxies.
The two sisters were transfixed.
“Little ants,” Tiamat spoke once more, her body coiling away as she revealed her full size, “you attacked my world and my people.”
“You did it for your own reasons, but the matter at hand is that I have never wronged any of you. But now you have wronged me.”
Every one of her words was heavy. And far in the distance, they could hear the poisonous hiss of a snake.
Ouroboros was waking at the anger of her master.
“Now that you have wronged me,” Tiamat continued, “you shall pay with your lives.”
The ceiling of the place they were in was rooted away mercilessly, the head of a colossal white snake emerging with purple eyes shaped like infinity.
The coiling and slithering of its tongue made the very time around lag and rewind over and over. The space became an endless loop of timelines stacked upon raw matter indefinitely.
The two Elysiari sisters took their stances, heavily aware of the battle about to come.
“Emmie,” Aphasia whispered as she called upon all the kings and queens of spirits under her.
“Sister Aphasia,” Emmie answered, summoning all the gold inside this world and at the same time applying her authority around it.
“Are you confident?” Aphasia asked.
“No. Are you?”
“No.”
They smiled crookedly, then attacked.
…
The fight against Tiamat, the beloved granddaughter of Esmeray, had begun. Emmie and Aphasia were up for the task, ready to complete their part of this Origin-gathering event without fail.
A motivation worthy of respect.
But in life, there were things that were simply not meant to be. And that, no matter how one tried hard to change them.
The Elysiari sisters had met someone worthy. In this battle, they would glimpse what true power was. The power held by those at the Top of the Universe.
The type Soleil Octave held.
The type of power that they — The Elysiari — wanted beneath them.
The Elysiari viewed themselves as Conquerors. But they were not. Not yet, at least.
For to be one, one needed to conquer worthy opponents.
They had begun this pursuit, but maybe they would come to realize that they were not ready yet.
But even if they did, it was far too late.
For the coin had already begun to spin.
Now, on which side would the coin fall?
Truly…
One could only wonder.
