Chapter 413: Chapter 413: Void beast
Chapter 413 – Void beast

The void around was deep and terrifying, with nothing in sight, not even the usual aimlessly drifting destroyed stars and planets.

There was nothing one could see — that is, if one’s eyes were not special enough.

Something was slithering inside that void, something colossal and apocalyptic, its movement slow but measured.

The monster’s face was blank with no eyes, nor nose nor even a mouth. Its body was gargantuan enough to rival the size of a low-ranked world, colored in deep, terrifying black. Except its head, the rest of its body was made of hairy arms as thick as trees. Billions of them, longer than any skyscraper of Earth.

Each of these arms was armed with jagged nails — so impossibly black they glimmered — each at the size of a spear made for a giant.

Using those arms that scratched the space in soundless noise, the void beast moved through its natural habitat.

Suddenly, the beast stopped in its peaceful drift, its numerous arms slithering through the void around as if searching for something.

Finding it, the it snapped its blank face overhead and there, it saw a man with silver hair and white-purple slitted eyes looking at it. His eyes were filled with unmasked arrogance, looking at it as if it were an ant.

They stared at each other, a more profound silence settling between them.

That silence was choking, but it didn’t last long.

A soul-wrenching screech reverberated all around, the void rattled, before millions of hairy arms shot forward with impossible speed toward the man.

The man made no move, but in a span of a heartbeat, the void was lit up by a cornucopia of stars shining brightly, followed by the roar of a beast, the hiss of a snake, and the fluttering of wooden branches.

Though it had no eyes, the void beast seemed to be blinded by stars. As a consequence, before its mind got the time to adapt, its whole body was wrapped by a titanic snake with scales glowing like emerald crystals in that moving darkness, the head of the snake biting and swallowing millions of its arms in one go.

Poison sank deep inside each of them.

The beast howled.

Following that, from nowhere, flowers began to bloom all over its body, draining its void energy and injecting within it a potent paralyzing poison.

The monster thrashed around with staggering intensity, causing the space about to shiver and then crack as its arms pierced easily the first layer of void. The snake began to struggle to keep it immobilized, its body cracking as if about to burst in seconds.

“Nephis, Leona, attack!” Katy hissed, and just at that moment her snake burst into a rain of green poisonous blood. Pain pulsed inside her soul, jerking her violently.

In that void, Katy staggered backward, feeling blood dripping down her lips at the recoil of her familiar dying. And so, she was not able to see the jagged nails of the beast below her about to shred her into pieces of flesh and bones.

“Star Law, Cluster.”

“Hybrid Beast Law, Maw of Purification.”

The void froze, then the cornucopia of silver stars exploded into existence around the void beast. And in a span too brief for thought to form, they detonated into chains of star-explosions, enveloping the beast in a silver frost colder than any star.

The beast shrieked in agony, deep vicious black blood smearing the void around. A mouth split open on its smooth black face, brimming with black pointed teeth from above and below.

It stretched it wide open, a swirling black void of energy gathering at the door of its mouth.

The scent of death and corruption began to soak the surrounding.

Noah standing above watched with flat eyes, sensing the harrowing power about to be unleashed. Yet the beast never had the opportunity, not seeing below it a mountain-sized maw opened wide, with white flame dancing in its depths.

Leona gave her order, and her maw snapped toward the void beast just in time for the void beast to unleash its Void Breath, its jaws closing shut in timely manner, causing the void breath to explode inside the creature’s mouth.

“SCRRRRCHHHHHHH!!!”

The beast wailed in endless agony, its mouth shredded into pieces of splintered flesh followed by its stomach. Immaculate white flame began to burn the whole creature in shrieking terror.

Coupled with frost starlight, the pain was wrenching as one could hear the monster whimpering.

At that instant, in that suffocating darkness, all one could see was a moving figure of white flame crying in agony with Stars Law still freezing inside it, and Plant Law eating up its void energy.

But Katy was not done. Feeling aggrieved from being the only one hurt, with her Snake Law, she summoned billions of tiny snakes that entered deep inside the flesh of the void beast, eating everything in their path.

The beast howled a piercing scream, before soon a voice — male, old, and hoarse — echoed from the tortured creature.

“WHO ARE YOU?” The voice thundered out.

Noah finally let out a smile on his face, as his maids transformed back into their lotus shapes and moved slowly around him.

“So you can speak?” He inquired mockingly, “I thought one who attacked mindlessly didn’t have that ability.”

The beast was still in agony, so it had no patience for Noah’s sarcastic tone. With great difficulty, it swept away Leona’s flames in order to look at Noah.

Its mouth was completely destroyed, the same with its throat and belly. You could clearly see the moving green snakes and the searing cold stars inside it. And with its power reserve devoured by Sonomi’s plants, it had no way to regenerate.

The sight was truly nightmare-worthy.

Yet Noah didn’t bat an eye. He slowly descended from above and stood just in front of the faceless monster.

The monster growled and grunted with obvious hatred.

“See, buddy, you attacked first. I didn’t. So stop looking at me as if you want to have my head inside your destroyed maw.” Noah shrugged, “You cannot, anyway.”

“So,” he clapped soundlessly, “let’s get into business, shall we?”

“My brethren will sense this event.” The beast spat, “You will be submerged by many of us, and you shall feel pain worse than mine.”

“Can this guy shut up???” Nephis scowled.

“Nephis, shut up. Master is talking.”

Noah wordlessly raised his finger, pointing at the sky above. Compelled by an instinctive feeling to obey, the beast raised its head, only to see a massive tapestry of purple threads enveloping the whole area in cage-like fashion.

“Don’t worry,” Noah’s voice made it look back at him, eyes dilated, “No one shall know.”

“Though, I would have never believed that beings like you could have brethren. I must thank you for this information.”

He smiled sweetly, while the beast shivered.

“That means I do not need to waste time with you. You either talk without delay, or I will trouble myself and go visit your so-called family.”

At that instant, Noah’s eyes were terrifying to the beast. His white-purple slitted eyes looking like a primordial being was staring down at him, with the swirling lotuses around Noah adding to his otherworldly vibe.

Noah raised his right hand next and placed it on the beast’s head. The monster shivered and wanted to recoil but found its body locked in place.

“So,” Noah whispered, “Will you talk or do I need to slaughter your brethren in front of you?”

There was silence. A silence where inside its head, the void beast lived multiple possible timelines with its clan members killed in multiple agonizing ways before its eyes.

The clan members the Void Lord told him to care for and nurture.

He shivered thinking of the punishment he would receive if they came to die.

“I-I will tell you.” The beast answered weakly.

Noah spared him a beaming smile, “Wonderful, so tell me beast…”

He tilted his head,

“Where is Old Man Void?”

The void beast shivered once more. This time, more strongly.

…

Meanwhile, a black crow was flapping its wings in front of a dungeon entrance hidden in a small corner of the universe.

The dungeon was shaped like a sword, emitting an intense aura of severing that made Lucie slightly apprehensive. Still,

‘If Noah gave me this task alone, that means he knew I could do it.’ she thought, before flapping toward the sword-shaped entrance of the dungeon.

There, her crow transformation was undone as she regained her Elysiari form, with the horns and wings characteristic of the Vaelgrim.

Her wings were like those of a crow, wide and deep black. Her horns were made of condensed feathers that jutted upward sharply, the tips shining.

She stared down at the swirling sword-energy before her, then slowly raised her hand and pressed it against the door.

She cracked a crooked smile.

“Forgive my intrusion, Sword,” she whispered. Next, the sword-energy transformed into silver, transparent crows that entered deep inside her body, granting her the power to summon crows infused with severing sword-aspects.

The door fractured and disappeared.

She took one step, and vanished inside.
