Chapter 412: Chapter 412: The Maids
Chapter 412 – The Maids

They all departed.

There was nothing more left to say and nothing more left to do except going in their quest for the origins.

Each one of them went in their own way with their own method. The travels to their destination would take some time for most of them, as the worlds or realms or even dungeons they were meant to step foot on were far away.

Noah, this time, or maybe just like any time, he didn’t go alone. He went with his maids, pretty motivated to pass some time with them, for he believed to have neglected them far too much.

Only Morgan, mother of Zara, would not be part of that little group, for she was given the task to go alone, with the Origins of Emotions and Mind as her target.

But if most of them would need time to arrive at their destination…there was one group who arrived almost instantly, thanks to the timely aid of a mysterious divine beast.

Selene and Elira arrived in front of one of the most important Worlds of the Divine Beasts faction, their target being the owner of the bloodline Origin.

The moment they appeared in front of the weird-shaped crimson world, though no one could see it, deep inside Selene, Luminara was shivering like a cat called for a bath.

She couldn’t help it. The whispers were now too loud. And with her being in the domain of the Divine Beast…

‘Come back to me!!!’

…she could barely resist the order given to her. But she knew she couldn’t yield.

‘I must sleep…’ she wheezed, ‘I must enter a deep sleep to block the calling. I need to be deeper into Selene, only her soul could hide me.’ She brokenly thought as her head felt like it was being split open by the whispers.

Yielding to those whispers would mean delivering herself to Him, and if she did that, not only would she fail the words she had given to the Fog, but also…

‘Selene…no, I can’t let Him meet Selene…I cannot.’

Luminara bit her lips sharply and went deeper and deeper into Selene to hide better, something that didn’t escape Selene’s attention.

So she paused just in front of their target world, Elira at her side looking at her with a raised eyebrow.

‘What’s happening to you, Luminara?’ She inquired, feeling through the deep bond they shared the fear radiating from Luminara.

It was heavy and primal.

‘Nothing, but…’ Luminara’s voice echoed gently inside her head, ‘Be fast, Selene, and let’s get out of the Divine Beast’s territory.’

‘Something related to your past?’ She inquired.

‘Yes.’

‘Something you can tell me? I can help you, Luminara, just how you have always done with me.’ Selene’s voice was, as always, soft and quiet. It hurted her to feel the mother figure who had been with her since she was young slipping into such fear.

She hated it. And she wanted to help her.

But Luminara could not tell her the truth, for she had been ordered otherwise. Instead, she only forced a weak chuckle, her voice strainingly bright,

‘You are worrying too much, little Selene. I simply do not want to be seen. Your Protective Beast was quite famous, you know? I was a celebrity here! But you know I have left my duty and everything to protect you, they will certainly not look at me kindly. That’s all, little Selene. That’s all.’

Seeing her trying to brush away her concern, Selene only smiled curtly, deciding to remain silent.

“Are you okay?” Elira asked at her side, “You look lost. Don’t tell me you are scared, Selene?”

Selene smiled, shook her head, then rolled her shoulders one by one, “Nothing really, I was just thinking of the first time I met you.” She lied.

Selene grinned at that thought, her blue eyes dripping with frost, “You remembered how you so easily overpowered me?”

Elira mirrored her grin, herself massaging her wrists, “The good old time, if you ask me, Selene. I taught you some good lessons that day.”

“Perfect.” Selene’s voice was cold, “Now let’s see who is stronger, shall we?”

“Confident, aren’t you?” Elira’s lips curled upward as her eyes rested upon the world shaped like a crimson maw of a devouring beast.

“Fine.” Elira accepted, “I would never turn down a challenge.”

“The whole world or simply our target?”

“We are not mindless killers, aren’t we?” Selene intoned before slowly her body began to crack like an ice statue, exploded into fragments of frost that entered the fold of space, going directly toward the world.

“But we shall not mind using anything at our disposal to win.” Her voice reverberated inside Elira’s head sharply.

Elira smiled, shrugged, then “Now who should I use among my souls?” She wondered, beautiful hand on her fair chin, before her eyes lit up.

“Ah! Old man Zen, you the winner.”

‘By your orders, master.’

Elira’s body transformed into a bloody javelin with the tip glowing with a weird energy — a thought-type energy — then shot with blistering speed toward the World of Laka, The Bloodline Sage.

…

Selene and Elira were not the only ones who arrived at their destination so fastly. Noah also did. But in a kind of strange way.

Noah had given himself the task of searching the Origin of Void and the origins in the possession of both Mother of Change and the King in the North.

His first stop was the Void one, and Noah found himself standing like a fool in the depth of the void, his hand on his chin, wondering how he would find that origin.

‘Noelle told me that there were tales among the Void Beasts that said the Void Origin always drifted along the void, always moving continuously and nonstop. That makes it hard to catch.’

He tilted his head, ‘though, I don’t know how much of these tales I should believe. Curse, I don’t even know if the Void Origin is indeed in the void.’ He thought while shaking his head.

But he had to do all he could to find it. His children knew nothing significant of Void, claiming that the Old Man was always alone, wanting no one close to him for some reason. As if afraid or hiding something.

Without forgetting the warning Luminara gave him before they departed. She had sounded aggrieved by something, glaring at him as if he had done her wrong — which he found quite unreasonable, he was always good to her — but still she voiced her concern about his endeavor with Void.

‘That makes it quite interesting. Never in my life did I ever see Luminara worried about something. Oh, now that I think about it, didn’t I once hear Selene saying Luminara didn’t like Noelle?’

Not Noelle herself, but what she was. A Void Beast.

He smirked, ‘Did she have bad experiences with Void Beasts? Not only her, even Rue Octave and Klaus didn’t fancy Noelle.’

All of this made him realize that he knew nothing about Void Beasts and why all these factions hated them.

‘Time to know, I guess.’ He chuckled softly.

“Master, do we have a lead about our target?” A lotus suddenly appeared above him. It was black with white flame and black miasma swirling around it. This was Leona’s lotus manifestation.

“Ah!!!! Finally!!! I have master for me!!!” Another lotus appeared at the right of Noah, this one colored silver and glowing like it was made of stars, trembling with obvious excitement. This was Nephis — Aphasia’s sister — lotus’s manifestation.

“Neph, can you tone it down a bit? You are embarrassing me.” The voice of Sonomi — Aphasia and Nephis’s mother — erupted from a green lotus exuding a soft flora-like vibe with wooden branches going in and out of the lotus.

“Why are you acting like this, Sonomi? You literally cried in joy when we got the news of being alone with master for once.” Katy’s voice — Mother of Snakes and past Beast Empress — boomed out from another lotus made of green poisonous fog, appearing around Noah.

All of them were thrilled beyond measure to finally be with Noah and have his attention. Noah didn’t know if he should feel amused by their reaction or bad for neglecting his cute maids so much.

His lips crooked upward, “My lovely maids, here a small adventure for you and me. Let’s enjoy it fully, but by taking care of our task perfectly.”

“We ought to be the first ones to finish.”

“Why first???” Nephis sulked, “we can take our time! I want to be with you longer, master!!”

This time Sonomi didn’t say anything. Nephis was their voice, the one who dared to say anything she thought without filter.

They liked that about her. Especially in this kind of situation.

Noah smiled wryly, “okay fine, let’s not rush but let’s not waste time either. I have things to do, you know, Nephis?”

Nephis’s lotus trembled as if nodding, “Yes! Of course!”

“Now,” Noah murmured, facing the void with his lotuses swirling around him in mesmerizing fashion,

“Let’s find one lovely Void Beast to inquire the way, shall we?”

“YESSS!!!”

“Nephis, tone it down.”

“Yes!!!”

“Better.”
