Chapter 399: Chapter 399
“Everyone, get up. Something unexpected has happened here. You should all leave immediately.”

Atlas Ashmount’s voice was calm, yet it carried unquestionable authority.

“Clear.”

No one dared disobey.

The cultivators surrounding Heavenly Lake all nodded and retreated one after another, quickly dispersing in different directions.

They all understood why the Holy Lord had arrived.

Earlier, the sudden vision of heaven and earth—mysterious, vast, and awe-inspiring—had appeared and vanished almost instantly. Only someone crossing a terrifying tribulation could cause such a phenomenon.

Although they left the lakeside, none of them truly went far.

Instead, they stopped among the surrounding mountains, hiding their auras and watching Heavenly Lake from afar.

No one wanted to miss what might happen next.

—

“Master, what exactly happened here?”

Isolde Stonebridge stood beside Atlas Ashmount, her brows slightly furrowed.

“I clearly sensed that someone was undergoing a tribulation,” Atlas replied slowly, his gaze sweeping across the lake.

“But the vision of heaven and earth was forcefully obscured by a mysterious power.”

“To be able to conceal the tribulation’s heavenly phenomena…”

His eyes narrowed slightly.

“That power is absolutely extraordinary.”

“Tribulation?” Isolde asked.

“What kind of tribulation?”

“Supreme Tribulation,” Atlas replied lightly.

Isolde’s expression changed.

“Supreme Tribulation? Could it be a senior from our Holy Land?”

“No.” Atlas shook his head.

“I know exactly who in the Holy Land of Endless Mountains is cultivating in seclusion and approaching the Supreme Realm. It’s none of them.”

As he spoke, his mental energy spread out like an invisible tide, probing every corner of Heavenly Lake.

After a short while, his brows knitted faintly.

“I didn’t expect this,” he said slowly.

“There’s a formation node buried deep beneath Heavenly Lake. Its concealment is extremely subtle. Without careful investigation, even I would’ve missed it.”

He paused, his tone turning solemn.

“This formation was likely left behind by an Upper Supreme.”

Isolde’s pupils shrank.

“Upper Supreme?”

“Other than Master… who else in Skyreach Territory has reached the Upper Supreme Realm?”

Atlas replied calmly, “The Blood Marquis of the Blood Tavern.”

Then he added, “Of course, it’s not necessarily him.”

“The Skyreach Territory is vast. Many old monsters hide themselves from the world. There may even be existences whose identities I don’t know.”

“In short, we can’t be careless.”

As he finished speaking, Atlas turned his head slightly.

“Someone’s watching.”

His gaze locked onto a patch of forest not far away.

“Come out.”

—

Seeing that he had been discovered, Zeon stepped out of the woods calmly.

There was no point hiding anymore.

“Verdant Lantern Empire, Zeon,” he said evenly, cupping his hands slightly toward Atlas Ashmount.

Behind his back, a small golden token appeared silently in his palm.

The token was exquisitely crafted, engraved with a majestic dragon.

Zeon injected a trace of mental energy into it.

Crack.

The golden token instantly turned into powder.

At the same time, a message was transmitted.

—

Deep underground, Magnus’ expression changed the moment he received the signal.

“Brother Magnus,” Zeon’s voice rang in his mind.

“Something big has happened.”

“What is it?” Magnus asked urgently.

“The Holy Lord of the Endless Mountains Holy Land is here. He seems to have noticed something abnormal about this place.”

“H–Holy Lord?!”

Magnus’ face instantly turned grave.

This was far worse than he had imagined.

Then Zeon asked, “How is Brother Ethan now?”

“…The situation is unclear,” Magnus replied after a moment of silence.

He pressed half his face against the stone gate again, desperately sensing what lay beyond it, silently praying.

A moment later—

Magnus’ eyes flew open.

His face lit up with uncontrollable joy.

“This aura… it’s Brother Ethan!”

He probed again carefully.

Behind the stone gate, a familiar aura was slowly emerging.

It was weak—but unmistakable.

“It’s him. Brother Ethan isn’t dead,” Magnus said excitedly.

“And his aura is still steadily rising.”

Relief flooded his heart.

From this, he could already tell—

Ethan had successfully survived the Supreme Tribulation.

What followed was the baptism of the Great Dao.

As long as one survived the tribulation, no matter how severe the injuries or how shattered the dantian and meridians were, they would be slowly restored under the Great Dao’s power.

“Excellent!”

Magnus quickly sent a reply.

“Brother Zeon, I sensed Brother Ethan’s aura. He has survived the Supreme Tribulation and is now undergoing the baptism of the Great Dao. He’ll come out of seclusion soon.”

—

Zeon received the message and finally allowed himself a faint smile.

Very good.

But he knew—

This was the most critical moment.

The baptism of the Great Dao was unimaginably precious. Any disturbance from the outside world could greatly reduce its effectiveness.

“Brother Magnus,” Zeon replied, his gaze sharpening, “you stay below and guard him. I’ll hold back this Holy Lord.”

Magnus hesitated. “The Holy Lord of Endless Mountains should be at least an Upper Supreme. Can you manage?”

“I don’t know,” Zeon replied honestly. “But I can’t retreat.”

“…Understood,” Magnus said solemnly.

“I’ll protect Brother Ethan below. If you can’t hold on, retreat immediately. Don’t hesitate.”

“Don’t worry,” Zeon said calmly.

“I won’t die that easily.”

He cut off the transmission and turned his attention back to Atlas Ashmount.

—

Atlas stood with his hands behind his back, standing on the surface of the lake as if it were solid ground.

His aura was vast and unfathomable.

He wasn’t worried in the slightest that Zeon would escape.

To him, an Inferior Supreme was nothing more than a slightly larger fish.

Escape was impossible.

He took a step forward.

Ripples spread beneath his feet.

In the blink of an eye, he appeared directly in front of Zeon.

Less than one foot away.

Zeon’s heart skipped.

“So fast… I couldn’t even react.”

“Is this the power of an Upper Supreme?”

Every muscle and nerve in his body tensed instinctively, entering a state of full combat readiness.

Atlas glanced at him and smiled faintly.

“The Verdant Lantern Empire?”

His tone was polite, even gentle.

“I’m glad to meet a cultivator from there.”

“Likewise,” Zeon replied, cupping his hands again.

“But,” Atlas continued, his smile unchanged, “do you know that this region belongs to my Endless Mountains Holy Land?”

“…,” Zeon frowned slightly.

Behind Atlas’ warm smile, there was a coldness hidden deep in his eyes.

“This place is hundreds of miles away from the Endless Mountains Holy Land,” Zeon said calmly. “I truly didn’t know it fell under your jurisdiction.”

“Those who don’t know are not guilty,” Atlas said generously, waving his hand.

Then he asked casually, “Is the situation at Heavenly Lake related to you?”

Zeon’s mind raced.

“My friends and I were merely passing by,” he replied.

“We found this place peaceful and beautiful, so we cultivated in seclusion underground. If this caused any offense, please forgive us.”

Atlas listened quietly, neither confirming nor denying.

The Holy Land of Endless Mountains was the strongest force in Skyreach Territory, and Atlas was even more powerful.
