The two of them descended into the depths of the lake, slipping through the shimmering water until they reached its dark, silent bottom.

Ethan’s sharp gaze swept across the empty space.

Nothing. No traces. No aura.

Asher frowned and stepped forward. His palm pressed lightly against the lakebed.

A hum shivered through the water—

A buried formation lit up briefly beneath the mud.

“This is a teleportation formation… and it was activated just now.”

His brows tightened further.

“This Thousand Faces really jumped here as a soul and used the formation to escape.”

Ethan nodded.

“That’s right. He’s extremely good at running. No wonder even the Blood Tavern’s owner found him troublesome.”

“This formation is one-way. One-time use.” Asher shook his head.

They had not failed.

“Won’t the cowardly mask try to erase the mark?” Ethan asked.

“Hmph. Impossible.” Onyx puffed up proudly.

Ethan smirked.

“I see. Good.”

With that, Ethan and Asher left the ruined lake and headed back toward Noble Sun City.

His expression twisted with a venomous fury.

“Heavens, I was tricked by a random brat… I almost died!”

“Ethan… just you wait. I will cut you into pieces!”

His killing intent burned so fiercely it warped the air.

The voice from his mask spoke again:

“It’s fine to seek revenge—but be patient. Wait until you’ve recovered your strength… and the waiting time of the Heaven and Earth Reversal’s final form has ended. Otherwise… you will truly die next time.”

Thousand Faces forced himself to calm down.

“Yes. I will be prepared. More prepared than ever.”

He sat down cross-legged, pulling out countless bottles and jars filled with elixirs.

“Ethan… everything you’ve done, you will regret.”

The cave fell silent except for the slow hum of energy as Thousand Faces began recovering from his injuries.

Asher waved dismissively.

“What an incredible young man,” Asher muttered, half admiring, half baffled.

“Uga!”

He called out loudly.

A streak of light blasted down from the horizon.

It landed before the tavern—

Turning into a tall, beauty in a fiery red dress.

Elegant.

Fierce.

Eyes cold enough to cut steel.

“Master.” She bowed.

Uga— The ancient One-Legged Bird, a top-tier ferocious beast whose bloodline rivaled the divine Phoenix.

Ashira, standing nearby, felt her own beast bloodline quiver. She hid behind Ethan subconsciously.

This was a true ancient monster.

Uga’s cold gaze fell on Solara.

“Phoenix?”

Solara pointed boldly at her.

“One-legged big bird!”

“You girl, don’t be rude,” Ethan flicked her forehead lightly.

“Call her sister.”

“Sister Uga!” Solara called sweetly.

Uga simply nodded—cold and aloof.

Ethan studied her calmly.

“One of the ancient ferocious beasts… bloodline equal to the Phoenix. Tenth-level spiritual beast. As expected of Asher.”

Asher grinned.

“Uga, get to know these two girls. They’re spiritually similar to you. Exchange experiences or whatever.”

“Understood.”

Ashira bowed with respect.

“My name is Ashira. Greetings, Sister Uga.”

Solara grinned.

“Hello Sister Uga! This is my dad!”

Uga blinked once.

“He is a human. How could he be your father?”

Solara pouted.

“No matter! He is my dad anyway!”

Everyone burst into laughter.

Ethan glanced around the tavern.

“Where are Manager Lana and Talker Latham?”

He didn’t see them anywhere.

They had helped him greatly—he owed them thanks.

“Why, do you care so much about Manager Lana?”
