Chapter 366: Chapter 366(Inspiration Capsule Extra Chapter)
Ethan watched the flying boat vanish into the horizon until it became a speck swallowed by the sky. Only then did he lower his gaze and open his palms.
There lay the items Senior Sister had left behind.
A top tier holy-grade spiritual weapon—the Prisoner Dragon Lock, its dark gold chains silently exuding a divine, oppressive aura.
And resting beside it, a blue jade pendant, simple yet warm, carrying the familiar breath of the woman who entrusted it to him.
Ethan closed his fingers around the Prisoner Dragon Lock and stored it away. Then he lifted the jade pendant and placed it gently around his neck.
“Althea… I’m waiting for your return.”
His fingers brushed the pendant once more. A faint chill lingered on its surface, but when he touched it, it seemed to warm instantly, as if responding to him.
After a long breath, Ethan exhaled and stood upright again.
“Senior Asher, we can go.”
Asher gave Ethan a measured glance. “Alright, let’s go.”
“Uga!”
With a sharp cry, a gigantic fiery one-legged bird descended from the clouds, wings kicking up violent winds as it landed beside Asher.
“Come up.”
Ethan nodded and brought along the Royal Beast Sect disciples, Seraphina, and the others. Together, they embarked toward Noble Sun City.
Halfway through the journey, a faint ripple touched Ethan’s mental perception.
His brow shifted imperceptibly.
Latham looked at Ethan. “The Riverborn family… they should be here for you.”
Asher’s expression sank slightly. “Mm. I sensed someone trailing as well.”
“He’s not the only one.” Ethan’s voice was calm, almost indifferent.
Asher let out a small grunt of amusement. “This boy… even noticed the second aura. That one is extremely well-hidden.”
“Since they came for me,” Ethan said lightly,
“I’ll handle it myself.”
Then he turned to Solara. “Follow Aunt Rain. Don’t run off. Daddy has to do something.”
“Okay, Daddy!” Solara replied obediently.
No one questioned him. Ethan’s silence always meant there was no room to interfere.
Moments after he departed from the team, Asher also vanished, stepping off Uga’s back and melting into the sky.
“Old man Latham,” Asher said from above, “take them back. There’s another aura—very strange. I’ll go greet him.”
…
Ethan descended onto a barren hilltop.
The ground here was harsh and dry. Yellowed shrubs curled around scattered rocks; the cold wind scraped across the rough earth.
His gaze traveled slowly across the expanse—until it fixed on the opposite hill, where several enormous trees stood clustered.
A presence hid within their boughs.
Ethan had already sensed him earlier—one of the Riverborn family members.
“Since Your Excellency is already here,” Ethan said, amusement in his tone, “why bother hiding?”
His words had barely fallen when a figure shot out of the trees, accompanied by an arrogant snort.
A young man in silver armor stepped into the air, hovering above Ethan, looking down with an expression of superiority carved into every feature.
“Your perception is decent,” the young man said, arms folded.
“Barely passable.”
“You’re from the Riverborn family,” Ethan replied lightly.
“I have no conflict with you. Why follow me?”
Ryan sneered. “Because of the young lady of the Riverborn family, of course.”
“Oh?”
A faint smile curled at the corner of Ethan’s lips. He understood immediately—this was jealousy dressed as righteousness.
“I’ll admit,” Ryan continued, “you’re bold. You can still smile facing me.”
“But courage alone isn’t enough for you to be worthy of my young lady. Today, I’ll show you what a true genius is.”
A chilling wave of spiritual energy exploded out.
Cold wind surged.
Faint frost spread across the barren earth, creeping up the rocks, turning autumn into harsh winter in a few breaths.
Ryan’s sword intent surged like a frigid tide.
Ethan stood motionless, hair fluttering, expression flat as a dead lake.
“What is your name!” Ryan barked.
“Ethan.”
“Ethan? Hmph. Remember it well. I, Ryan, Silver Armored Guard of the Riverborn family, shall be your opponent today.”
His tone sharpened, full of disdain.
“You think you’re fit for our young lady? Overconfident fool. A place as backward as Skyreach could never produce a genius equal to our ancient bloodline.”
Ryan’s aura intensified further.
“The peak of the Mahayana Ninth Turn,” Ethan observed calmly, “close to the Supreme realm.”
“Good, good. No fear even now. But courage means nothing without power!”
A long sword materialized in Ryan’s hand.
Immediately, a mighty domain of sword intent formed—icy cold, vast, and crushing—closing around Ethan like a cage.
Ryan’s aura soared.
“Feel it. This is the gap between us.”
“Our family has existed for hundreds of thousands of years. Our inheritance is deeper than you can comprehend.”
“And we carry the blood of a Great Emperor.”
He pointed his sword at Ethan.
“You, without spiritual energy, are just a physical cultivator. Even with a complete body cultivation technique, you cannot compare to an emperor bloodline!”
Then his sword thrust forward.
The domain erupted.
Dozens of razor-sharp streams of sword intent shot toward Ethan.
BOOOOM!!
The icy wind surged as sword energy condensed, then burst apart into hundreds of deadly ice blades.
Boohoohoohoo—!
The air filled with shrieking blades, raining down toward Ethan like an avalanche.
Ryan grinned coldly when he saw Ethan unmoving.
“What now? Giving up?”
“A fool thinking he’s worthy of my young lady. Laughable.”
He shook his head and extended his hand to withdraw the attack.
He was under strict orders—not to kill.
But—
His eyes widened.
Because Ethan’s eyes had changed.
Not with panic, nor resistance.
Something… ancient flickered within them.
A soft, golden aura drifted out from Ethan’s body.
The Celestial Jade Physique Scripture stirred quietly.
Golden Original Power flowed like a calm tide—subtle, yet boundlessly profound.
Where this power passed, the ice blades melted soundlessly, collapsing into harmless droplets before evaporating entirely.
“…What?!”
Ryan’s pupils shrank.
That energy—its texture, its pressure—was different.
It wasn’t spiritual energy.
It wasn’t essence.
It wasn’t blood.
It was something… superior.
“Golden energy,” Ryan whispered.
“Is it the so-called Original Power?”
