Chapter 967: Construction of the Blue Haven Shelter
The Warden Unit guided Lawrence and Shania through the villa’s halls until they reached their assigned quarters on the third floor.

When the door opened, both of them froze for a moment.

Inside was a two‑bedroom unit, complete with a small living space, a toilet and bath, and even a working air conditioner humming softly against the wall…

A balcony overlooked the coastline, where the sea breeze mixed with the faint scent of salt… It was something they could easily get used to. Compared to the tent before, this was definitely more livable…

“Electricity… It’s actually working here,” Shania whispered while stepping inside. She touched the light switch, and the bulb flickered to life instantly. “Lawrence… we have power.”

Lawrence chuckled while setting down his pack. “Feels like a dream. After tents and cramped walls, this is paradise.”

They explored the rooms quickly. One bedroom had a simple bed and a cabinet, and the other was empty but could be used for storage or guests. They also confirmed that the bathroom had running water, and the heater worked.

“Amazing!”

Finally, after months of living in the tent and relying on the public bathhouse, they felt like they had a proper home.

Shania soon rested against the balcony railing while smiling faintly. “We’ll finally sleep without hearing ten families arguing outside.”

Lawrence nodded as he couldn’t help but laugh at those memories.

“Let’s settle our things… I still have to report to the foreman. You saw it just now… This place is too bare… We’ll need walls, bricks, and scaffolding. If we can get the housing blocks up fast, more families will have rooms like this.”

Shania nodded.

After a few hours, Lawrence joined the group of construction workers outside.

The foreman, a large man with a scar across his cheek and was already giving orders. This man seemed to be someone from the Eclipse Domain and was quite expert on this.

“Alright, listen up! We’re starting with the inner wall housing blocks. Each team will handle a section. Bricklayers, you’re with me. Carpenters, go with those Super Soldiers. We need foundations by sundown.”

Lawrence raised his hand. “Bricklayer here.”

The foreman nodded. “Good. You’ll be on Section Three. We’re short on mortar, so make do with what we have. Keep the walls straight… we don’t want collapses when the storms hit.”

Lawrence nodded as he realized that being close to see would indeed have such problems… During their time in the Silver Mine Camp, there weren’t really any problems when a storm hit, but it would be different here in the coastal area.

Soon, Lawrence joined his team, a mix of survivors and a few Super Soldier laborers. They also worked silently but efficiently, carrying heavy loads without complaint.

‘They’re really useful… I also feel safe with these guys working.’ Lawrence mused as he felt that even if a Zombie dropped from the sky, the Super Soldiers could easily snap them in half.

Anyway, Lawrence then quickly found himself coordinating with them, marking measurements, and laying the first bricks.

One of the younger workers glanced at him nervously. “Uh… sir, is this stable enough? The ground feels loose.”

Lawrence crouched, pressing his hand against the soil. “We’ll reinforce it… Hmm… Dig deeper, lay gravel, then set the bricks. If you cut corners, the wall will fall in the first storm.”

The boy nodded quickly. “Got it.”

After a few hours, sweat dripped down Lawrence’s face, but the wall was rising steadily. He paused to drink water, looking at the progress.

“This shelter seemed to have a better map plan…” he muttered as he could already tell that the architect who made the map plan had a good vision for the future of this land.

Meanwhile, Shania reported to the east wing kitchens.

The place was busy as expected… Pots were clanging around, and workers were rushing to prepare meals for the laborers

A woman in her thirties, wearing a clean apron, approached her. “You must be Shania. I’m Alexa. You’ll be with me today.”

Shania smiled. “Yes. I was told to find you.”

Alexa handed her a basket of vegetables. “We’re short on meat, but we’ve got plenty of grains and greens. Can you handle soups and stews?”

Shania nodded confidently. “That’s my specialty. Simple meals, but filling.”

They moved to the cooking area, where fires could be seen burning under large pots. Shania quickly began chopping vegetables… It was something she had been doing for years…

Alexa watched for a moment, then smiled after seeing that Shania had skills.

“You’re fast. Good. We need speed here. Workers will be starving soon.”

As they cooked, Alexa leaned closer. “So, you came from Springriver Manor?”

“Yes,” Shania replied. “Outer wall tents. It was crowded. This place… I’m sure it will turn into a great shelter like the Silver Mine Camp and Springriver…”

Alexa nodded. “There’s no doubt about that. Shane wants this to be a port city. If that happens, we’ll be feeding fewer people”

“Fewer? Isn’t that opposite?” Shania asked.

“Ahh… I mean, he’d be accepting more businesses to operate here… There are already many businessmen from Neutral Shelters planning to open shops in Eclipse Domain, Springriver Manor, and New Genesis Shelter… However, Shane was holding them back. I heard he’s planning to put most of those businesses here.” Alexa explained…

Shania nodded as she realized that there were such connections between Neutral Shelter and Survivor Shelters…

For their dinner, the kitchen was filled with the aroma of stew.

Workers lined up… They were all tired but eager to have a good meal!

Shania ladled portions into bowls, and she couldn’t help but smile after seeing his manly partner, Lawrence, appear among them.

He took his bowl and winked. “Smells better than anything we had at the manor.”

Shania laughed. “Eat up. You’ll need it if you’re building walls all day.”

The shelter was lively and calm, and many thought the peace would last.

Yet after a week in Blue Haven, the threat of the Sea Creature Zombies finally revealed itself
