Chapter 965: Transfer and Portal
While Shane was thinking of the new name of the Shelter, Tundra exhaled, relieved that the territory was now for Shane to manage.
Well, he wasn’t really built to manage a shelter. He liked to be outside, fighting against Zombies, drinking beer, or enjoying his day, rather than worrying about crop production… Now, he no longer needed to worry about gathering resources, food supplies, medical supplies, zombie attacks, constructions, and other stuff.
It was simply too difficult for him, since he barely had experience when he was helping Reylin in Blood Talon Shelter.
“Hmm… Let me just check its details…” Shane muttered as he opened the system interface.
The option to rename the shelter appeared.
Shane thought for a moment, considering its location by the sea and its potential as a port city.
“Alright… from now on, this place will be called Blue Haven Shelter.”
The system confirmed the change.
[ Shelter Name Updated: Blue Haven Shelter ]
Shane then accessed the Territory Settings.
[ Territorial Information ]
Name: Blue Haven Shelter
Type: Coastal Trade & Defensive Outpost
Manager: Tundra (Acting Commander)
Infrastructure: Shelter Core Chamber, Watchtowers, Vital Capsule Chamber, Basic Barracks, Storage Depot, Crop Fields (initial setup), Fishing Dock (under construction), Function Hall (converted to Portal Hall)
Population: 49
Culture Points: 45
Defense Level: Moderate (Wooden Barricades, Steel‑reinforced Walls, Patrol Units, Basic Ballistae on Watchtowers, Automated Turrets, Barrier Generators)
Food Reserves: 21 days (Current Consumption Rate)
Water Reserves: Coastal Wells, Basic Purification Tanks (Stable but limited supply)
Morale: Stable (Citizens are hopeful under Shane’s leadership; confidence boosted by the Vital Capsules and new recruits)
[ Notes: The Blue Haven Shelter is newly established along the coast. Its strategic location makes it ideal for trade, fishing, and naval expansion. Current focus is on stabilizing food and water supplies, strengthening defenses, and connecting with other shelters. ]
Shane studied the information carefully. The numbers were low compared to his other shelters, but that was expected. This place was still new, and its defenses were basic.
“Blue Haven… not bad, right?” Shane muttered. “We’ll turn this into a proper port city. Trade, fishing, and defense against anything coming from the sea.”
Tundra nodded. “With your abilities… That’s natural. People will start arriving soon. We’ll have the manpower to expand.”
Shane closed the interface, already planning the next steps.
The Portal Hall would be finished first, then food and water reserves to be stabilized, and finally, defenses must be upgraded.

After some time, Shane placed the Gate Stone at the center of the empty hall…

Soon, Shane contacted Raze to ready the activation…
[ You are about to activate a Gate Stone.
Target Destination: Springriver Manor’s Anchor
Spirit Energy Cost: 1,000 SP ( One-Time Activation )
Maintenance Cost: 0 SP per day
Transfer Capacity: Up to 100 individuals per day OR 6,800 kg of cargo ]
[ Confirm Activation? ]
[ Yes ] [ No ]
“Yes!”
[ Connection to Springriver Manor’s anchor has been established. ]
The stone glowed faintly, as it synchronized with the other Gate Stone of the Springriver Manor!
Within a few seconds, the portal was created from where the gate stone was located…
The previous empty hall was no longer just a function space. It had become the beginnings of a Portal Hall, a gateway that would connect the Blue Haven Shelter to the other shelters under Shane’s control.
Tundra watched silently, impressed by the sight of it.
The portal was truly a magical device that shouldn’t exist here… Still, it was benefiting them, so he could only appreciate it.
“With this, movement between shelters will be instant. Supplies, reinforcements, even trade… everything becomes easier. With a hundred people per day that can be transferred, I guess the Springriver Manor will no longer be crowded in just a week or so.” Tundra commented.
Shane nodded. “Exactly. This is how we’ll make this new shelter develop faster than other new shelters.”

Some time ago, as Shane was guided by Tundra to the inner part of the villa, Fiona was guided to her room in the main villa.
It wasn’t luxurious, but it was clean, with fresh sheets and a small wooden cabinet. For someone who had been running for her life, it felt like a haven.
She wasted no time in taking the offer of a warm bath.
The water steamed as it filled the tub, and the moment she stepped in, her body relaxed completely. The warmth seeped into her skin, washing away the exhaustion of travel…
“Whoa~ This is the best!”
After a few weeks, she felt truly refreshed.
After drying off and changing into the clothes from her inventory, Fiona decided to explore.
This time, she left her rats behind. She wanted to see things with her own eyes, not through their senses.
The shelter was still new, and it showed.
Many buildings were unfinished, with wooden scaffolding and piles of stone waiting to be used. The watchtowers were functional but rough, and the crop fields were only beginning to take shape.
Survivors moved about, carrying supplies or repairing walls, but the place lacked the bustle of a fully established settlement.
Fiona walked past the storage depot and followed the path toward the outer barricades.
Beyond them, she could hear the steady rhythm of waves.
‘Ahhh… I miss this sound of waves…’
Curious, she continued until the sea came into view.
The cold wind hit her immediately. It was cold, but she didn’t mind.
She stood at the edge of the cliffs, watching the waves crash against the rocks below. The horizon stretched endlessly, yet strangely calming.
It was as if there was no Zombie Apocalypse outside this shelter whatsoever.
“It’s cold… but I like it.” Fiona said as she hugged her cloak tighter…
Fiona stayed there for a while, letting the wind tug at her hair, before turning back toward the villa…
“What a pity… I just hope this shelter can hold out.”
