Chapter 962: Suspicious Item
Fiona froze after hearing the question…
Still, she gathered her thoughts and revealed what she knew…
“It’s in Sector 16. I only learned about it through my rats. They scouted the outskirts of a shelter there… I couldn’t get close myself, but I saw strange movements… Caged survivors entering and never coming out. My rats sensed heavy concentrations of infected blood and… something unnatural. There are many more clues, like how they were purchasing Zombie Blood in many other Neutral Shelters and how they managed to take over several Research Labs…”
She paused for a moment and looked at the two who were silently listening to her.
“Those things aren’t an accident… One of my rats confirmed that they have at least 20 Alchemists or Physicians working on a capsule with a Survivor Zombie. I’m sure they have been targeting those laboratories for a reason. That’s all I know. Limited, but enough… And it’s definitely the reason they’re chasing me. I saw too much.”
Shane’s expression hardened. “Sector 16… figures. That explains their persistence.”
Alex muttered, “So they’re hiding their experiments there. No wonder they want you silenced.”
Fiona nodded grimly. “Exactly. I’ve been running ever since.”
The group pressed on as the wind howled across the road. Fiona’s rats scouted ahead, moving through broken structures and frozen trees.
Suddenly, the swarm of rats halted. Fiona’s senses were soon filled with information.
“Something’s ahead… ten of them.”
The group quickly turned to their battle mode as they readied themselves to fight.
Below, in the middle of the road, stood ten Bone‑Armored Tyrant Zombies.
Like always, they were all massive with their bodies encased in bone like natural armor.
But what caught their attention was the mound at the center of the formation. A cluster of black flowers seemed to be under their protection!
The Tyrants circled it protectively, snarling at anything that drew near. This was a weird scene since they had never seen such Zombies protect something in the wild.
Alex frowned. “What the hell are those flowers?”
Shane’s gaze also focused on those flowers and confirmed that they were emitting some sort of Spirit Energy.
“Doesn’t matter. We’ll clear the Tyrants first.” He drew his weapon and approached the enemies.
It was a Legendary‑Grade Bone Sword.
It was once a Master‑Grade blade taken from a Crusher Zombie. However, after spending his Item Upgrade Crystals, he managed to successfully turn it into a Legendary one.
He then turned to the others. “I’ll handle the front. Support me with rifles. No need to get into close combat.”
Fiona and Alex nodded, raising their weapons.
They trust him a lot, and there was no need to worry about Shane’s safety.
The Tyrants roared as they saw Shane charge at them.
Vale could tell that with the sword in hand, his Swordmaster’s Domain Talent was triggered.
There was a sudden shift in his aura that would pressure any of his opponents… if they’re not Zombies.
Then, at the same time, rats scurried outward, squeaking warnings as they mapped the Tyrants’ positions.
The first Tyrant came straight at Shane, swinging its bone-armored arm.
Bam!
Shane shifted his weight, brought his sword down, and struck the arm at the joint. The creature staggered, and Shane finished it with a clean thrust through the chest…
‘Ahh…’
However, after realizing that these Tyrant Zombies wouldn’t die from that, he also quickly cut off its head…

Then, two more advanced. This time, Shane activated Domain Sever…
It was his talent’s special skill. With this skill triggered, his strikes carried further than the blade itself.
A horizontal cut tore across both, breaking their bone armor and dropping them to their knees.
Seeing that they’re down, Alex’s rifle fired and bullets punched into their exposed flesh.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Fiona’s shots followed as she aimed at those at the back, trying to pounce on Shane. Although it wouldn’t do much damage, it was enough to stop them in their tracks and give time for Shane to act.
As expected, another Tyrant tried to circle behind. Shane’s Phantom Instinct picked up the movement before it struck. He turned and waved his sword low, and severed its leg. The zombie collapsed, and it tried to stand up, until Shane drove the sword through its skull.
Lightning sparked from his blade as Stormbreaker’s passive triggered.
Bzzt~
A Tyrant also froze before it could grab Shane, stunned by the shock.
“Too slow…” Shane closed the distance and cut straight through its chest before severing its head…

“Five down!” Alex called out, firing again.
Shane pressed forward.
Three Tyrants rushed together, trying to overwhelm him.
This time, Shane triggered Tempest Crash. Just like that, a storm of energy burst outward, spreading across the battlefield.
It was only a 30 Spirit Point ability, but it did so much!
The creatures convulsed as their skin and flesh started smoking. Because of this, Shane cut through them one by one, almost without any resistance!
Thud! Thud! Thud!
[ You have eliminated a Bone-Armored Tyrant Zombie. ]
A series of notifications followed and confirmed the deaths of the Zombies.
The last Tyrant roared and charged ahead…
Shane met it head-on and used his Five-Meter jump to swiftly drive his blade upward through its throat, then pulling free in a single motion that ultimately decapitated the Zombie.
It happened so swiftly, and just like that, the creature collapsed to the ground.
That was less than five minutes of battle…
Shane then lowered his sword as he steadied his breathing… He had used some other skills during that battle after all…
“All ten. Cleared.”
Alex lowered his rifle and nodded. “That was clean work.”
Fiona also nodded and confirmed through her rats that all Zombies had been eliminated.
“You two can loot the Zombies. I’ll check the flowers.” Shane said that his experience points wouldn’t move anymore. It would be better if these guys could level up faster.
With the battlefield secured, Shane finally turned the mound of black flowers that the Bone-Armored Tyrant Zombies were suspiciously protecting…
