Chapter 959: Invitation
The sudden commotion alerted everyone near the gate.

Although they knew that they had powerful guards and survived numerous Zombie Waves, many of them couldn’t help but panic.

Mothers pulled children back, merchants abandoned or closed their stalls, and the dogs barked furiously, straining against their handlers.

Shane and Alex rose instantly and held onto their weapons. Fiona’s rats also stirred beneath her cloak, sensing danger, while the scattered rats also checked the surroundings…

‘There’s only 20 of them. They’re probably injured survivors who wanted to get treated…’ Fiona thought after realizing that the people were black-skinned and wearing different clothes than the locals.

The guards at the barricade hesitated only for a moment. Then, rifles snapped up.

“Fire!”

Gunshots cracked through the air.

Several boodied survivors jerked violently as bullets tore into them.

One collapsed instantly, while the ones behind followed as they staggered forward before falling face-first into the snow. The rest of them screamed, and it started to sound inhuman in Shane’s ears…

Still, those screams were covered under the hail of gunfire.

Needless to say, the helpless ‘Survivors’ died from the gunshots.

It happened quickly, and the merchants even felt awkward panicking like that. Still, they just silently opened their stalls as they felt that everything was now under control.

Soon, there was only the barking of dogs and the shamans hurrying to check the bodies…

“Tsk… They’ve really done it…” The shamans complained and moved quickly, checking the corpses. Their grim expressions confirmed what everyone feared.

“They were infected. If they had gotten further inside, the shelter would have been compromised.”

Fiona gently nodded as she watched the scene unfold. She felt that there was something more to it but she decided not to pry too much.

She only planned to resupply here anyway.

Shane and Alex also relaxed after realizing what had happened. Though they were curious what kind of infection those Survivors got, they knew that they shouldn’t be prying too much since this wasn’t their territory…

“Well… Neutral Shelters can’t afford mistakes. They’re more strict than other shelters.” Shane mused. His shelter has Virus Stabilizer and even Aegis Serum. However, this place had none of them, so anyone who was infected should be eliminated quickly.

Alex muttered, “Still… They were strong enough to push past the gates and the guards in front. It’s definitely suspicious.”

Fiona glanced at them both and softly muttered.

“The Overlord Clan… Just to let you know… They’ve been experimenting with the Zombie Virus… I’m not sure how they were proceeding with it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if those people were part of it.”

Shane’s gaze sharpened. “Then we have even more reason to move against them.”

He then looked at Fiona seriously. “You’ve got a useful talent, Fiona. More than most.. I want you to officially join my clan, Eclipse Revenant.”

Fiona stiffened after getting invited directly. She had lived alone for so long, surviving in silence with only her rats for company. The thought of joining a clan felt foreign, almost dangerous.

“I… I don’t know,” she admitted softly. “I’ve never been part of a clan. I’ve always lived alone since I felt better that way and can’t trust anyone… And with the Overlord Clan coming for me, no other clan would accept me…”

“Except… maybe the number one clan.” Shane muttered.

Fiona helplessly smiled after hearing this…

She was indeed reaching the limits of her abilities… her constant use of Spirit Recovery Potions and various healing pills for her rats was getting more and more expensive… Her bunkers were also barely livable…

In the end, she knew it. Alone, she wouldn’t last forever.

Still, she raised her chin and spoke firmly. “If I join… I have conditions. I don’t want to be ordered around like a servant. I want proper payment or rewards for my contributions. I won’t fight for free.”

Alex snorted, trying to hide his grin. Shane laughed outright, shaking his head.

“You really have no idea how I treat my members…”

Or how wealthy I am. He wanted to add.

Nonetheless, Shane’s tone was amused, not offended. “Don’t worry. You’ll be rewarded more than fairly. I don’t run Eclipse Revenant like the Overlord Clan. My people are family, not pawns.”

Fiona blinked, caught off guard by his confidence. Still, an employer telling someone that they’re family was no good. Still, when Shane said it, it felt reliable.

Shane raised his hand, and a faint light appeared in front of her… a System notification.

Her heart pounded. This might be the opportunity she needed. Slowly, she pressed Accept.

There were a total of six skills, and from that, Fiona also realized how convenient the Guild Chat was… There were even some Clan Missions, Clan Resources, and other things she wanted to explore.

“Whoa~”

Fiona’s eyes widened. She had never seen so many buffs at once…

‘There’s even a Clan Hall… I want to visit that place.’

Shane watched her reaction with a satisfied smile. “Feels good, doesn’t it?”

Fiona nodded slowly, still stunned. “It’s… incredible.”

“Then let me give you something extra,” Shane said as he opened his inventory.

After a few moments, Shane placed five small, glowing tokens on the table… Furthermore, there were also two other potions beside them!

Fiona had no idea what these items were, but based on the Spiritual Energy they were emitting, she knew that they were all expensive treasures!
