Chapter 957: Fiona
Although Fiona wanted to leave immediately, she knew that she needed more preparation.

Next, she lit her Zombie Warding Lamp…

It was a small lantern that glowed with a pale blue light, capable of repelling nearby Zombies.

It wasn’t perfect, but it kept walkers, runners, and other zombies at bay long enough for her to move safely around the town…

Soon, she pulled her cloak tight around her shoulder. The fabric was heavy and weather-worn, concealing her figure. Beneath it, she strapped on her short sword, its blade sharpened to a lethal edge, and holstered her gun at her hip.

Her preparations were meticulous.

She knew that it was less likely that the Overlord Clan members who were chasing after her would still be here, but it was better to be on the safer side.

After every weapon was checked, she warmed up for a bit as she felt that she had stayed here in the bunker for too long. She had to stretch out and ensure that she could swing her sword or shoot her gun when needed.

Finally, she stood at the bunker’s exit, and her swarm of rats then started scurrying around her feet.

She took a deep breath as the faint fragrance of incense made her calm…

“Alright… let’s go get that pizza.”

With that, Fiona pushed open the hatch and stepped out of the shelter. It was already getting dark but she didn’t mind…

The Assassin’s Mask glowed faintly before it faded. Soon, her cloak flowed in the wind, and the Zombie Warding Lamp began to repel the Zombies…

At the same time, her rats spread out ahead, guiding her through alleys and ruins, clearing the path of danger. After a few weeks, Fiona had finally left her hidden shelter… and it was for a pizza.

***

Fiona moved swiftly through the ruins, and her rats then started scurrying ahead like scouts.

Thanks to these rats, she didn’t have to be worried about being ambushed by Zombies… Not even Earth Zombies that could hide underground would go unnoticed by some of her rats with several special abilities…

Well, she actually had three tiers of rats… Tier 1 were the normal rats. Aside from being faster and a bit more durable, they had no special abilities…

Tier 2 rats, on the other hand, had special detection abilities that could sense zombies or objects even if blocked by walls.

However, the Tier 3 rats, which she had only five of them, had other special abilities that could save her life during a critical moment, and of course, it was also the reason why she would not have to travel for days to arrive at this hidden Neutral Shelter.

“I’m getting close…” Fiona muttered.

Soon, she got into the range of her Tier 3 Rats…

After sensing one of her Tier 3 Rats, she used her skill. “Rat Swap…”

Whoosh~

Just like that, 500 Spirit Points were used as she swapped her position with one of the Tier 3 Rats… However, she had to do this one more time to truly get close to the shelter.

At this time, Fiona only had a total capacity of 2,890 Spirit Points.

Since she had been controlling the rats for some time now and she used the Rat Swap, she only had 1,900 Spirit Points.

With that in mind, she drank a Spirit Recovery Potion as she’d only feel comfortable if her Spirit Points were above 2,000 Points.

Just like that, it took her another 15 minutes to arrive close to the shelter.

Soon, she was able to see the Neutral Shelter. As she got closer, the louder the sounds became. She heard dogs barking, merchants shouting, laughter spilling from the streets.

It was surreal after weeks of silence underground.

At the outer barricade, Fiona slowed.

Survivors patrolled the walls with rifles, with their dogs pacing beside them.

She kept her hood low, her cloak concealing her figure, and slipped into the flow of travelers entering through the gate and paid the twenty Zombie Cores.

Thankfully, the health inspection was not done with her. The shaman who was doing a full body check was actually absent and she only had to deal with a young medic. Thanks to that, she didn’t have to use her Mind Control skill…

Just like that, Fiona decided to remove her mask and enter the shelter confidently.

Inside, the warmth hit her immediately.

Lanterns glowed in the streets, smoke curled from cooking fires, and the scent of food was everywhere.

Nonetheless, her focus was fixed on one thing.

The pizza stall.

She saw Shane and Alex just leaving the table as they seemed to have a great meal for almost an hour…

Soon, the stall owner pulled another tray from the oven and its steam rose as melted cheese bubbled across the crust.

It looked so delicious…

Survivors crowded around, handing over gold coins eagerly.

Fiona’s stomach tightened. She hadn’t felt this hunger for a while… She had always filled her stomach so she knew that her craving for this pizza was something real.

As she got a seat, a waitress turned toward her, smiling faintly despite the exhaustion in her eyes. “Welcome, miss. Pizza’s fresh out of the oven. One slice or a whole tray?”

Fiona hesitated, her hand turned the pouch of gold coins at her waist.

“One whole tray.”

The waitress blinked, then nodded quickly. “Coming right up.”

Fiona sat at a corner table with some of her favorite rats clustering beneath her cloak.

When the tray arrived, it was hot and fragrant, Fiona stared at it for a long moment.

Then, slowly, she lifted a slice, the cheese stretching as she bit into it.

Her eyes widened.

Delicious…

For a brief, fleeting moment, the apocalypse faded away.

However, she realized that Shane and Alex were actually already seated in front of her…

“So it’s you…” Shane said with an amused smile on his face. He didn’t expect that the rats had a master!
