Chapter 1010: Last Chance
Tyrant Shane’s eyes glowed as if he were truly a Zombie.
His hands with elongated nails like claws were also sharp enough to cut through steel.
Raahh!
He let out a roar that shook the ground, forcing dust and debris to rain down from the shattered walls.
The Raiders braced themselves, but Shane’s movements were unlike any Tyrant they had faced before. The moment he leapt forward and seized one of their members, they knew something was wrong. If not for that Raider’s blink skill, he would already be dead.
This creature’s movements were too quick and accurate… His aura was perfectly controlled, and his eyes were scanning not only the fighters in front but also the healers and archers behind.
Without a doubt, his intelligence was way above the normal high-tier Zombie they had fought before.
Hanzo narrowed his eyes. “Something’s wrong… this one isn’t ordinary.”
“I thought that the system said there wouldn’t be a significant event for the next year… What is this Zombie doing here?”
“Maybe we’re just exhausted… We fought against three kings and one lord… So we’re not in peak condition.”
No matter what, those four Zombies they defeated would never be killed by Survivors below level 50. They needed to be at least level 55 and have completed the ascension quest at the very least. After all, only those with an improved physique could handle those strikes from Zombie Lords. Without the ascension, their internal organs would collapse just by getting grazed by those Zombies.
Bismarck’s third eye flared, locking onto Shane’s form… His expression hardened as he couldn’t find any weakness in it… Furthermore, the way he reacted from the third eye was also alarming…
‘This was no mindless zombie.’
“Stay sharp!” he shouted. “This one’s different.”
Shane charged once again, with his feet tearing through the ground as he closed the distance. The Raiders moved to intercept, but fatigue betrayed them.
Their shields rose too slowly, their blades trembled, and their formation began to collapse after the brutal fight with Bonehorn.
They had realized only now that they had taken a toll from their previous battle.
Furthermore, without their knowledge, Shane had actually crushed the Toxic Shards of the Flesh Puker Zombies!
Unfortunately, Flesh Puker Zombies were quite rare…
Even if they appear, someone has to be lucky in order to loot it since only Shane had the Complete Loot Talent.
In any case, these Shards he had obtained were mainly used by Anna for her medical operations. They may not be outright lethal, but an accumulation of them could paralyze their targets.
Now, with everyone’s exhaustion plus the toxic air that Shane had created, they immediately felt weakened.
None of them thought that they were being poisoned yet because of its subtlety!
“Guys! That’s just a Tyrant… Drink potions or use those Healing Tokens now. I’ll buy you time.”
Hanzo said as he darted forward, with his Shadowfang Dagger flashing violet.
He activated Shadow Step, blinking behind Shane in almost an instant speed… His afterimage detonated, releasing a burst of shadow energy meant to stagger the Tyrant. But Shane didn’t even look behind… His hand just swept in a wide arc!
The blast barely grazed him, and at the same time, it forced Hanzo to retreat, with his dagger vibrating from the impact.
Kresh roared, swinging his Bloodreaver Axe with all his remaining strength. Crimson fire flared, and the axe cleaved into Shane’s shoulder.
It happened so quickly as Kresh used a Survivor Skill called Sure Strike that would make his attack unblockable…
For a moment, the Tyrant staggered, then his flesh regenerated!
It was knitting itself back together with horrifying speed. Even the Zombie Lords wouldn’t have such terrifying regeneration ability!
Shane lashed out, claws raking across Kresh’s chest. Only the axe’s Blood Frenzy saved him, restoring a sliver of vitality as he stumbled back.
Another Raider unleashed the Twin Serpent Blades, activating Venom Surge. The blades dripped with corrosive venom and they were even sizzling as they slashed across Shane’s hide.
However, as the wounds smoked, his body pulsed again. The regeneration was sealing them almost instantly. Shane soon caught the blades mid-swing and twisted, snapping one in half. The wielder fell back in horror.
That was not a simple blade after all.
Breaking it in half so easily made him aware that the Zombie’s strength was way above him!
At this moment, arrows of fire and ice rained down from the backline.
One exploded against Shane’s chest, engulfing him in flames. Another pierced his leg, freezing the ground beneath him.
But it was simply not enough… Shane just stomped forward, fire extinguished, ice shattered by sheer strength.
Bismarck’s third eye blazed, unleashing a telekinetic wave meant to pin Shane down.
Soon, debris slammed into the Tyrant’s body, slowing him for a heartbeat. Then, with a powerful roar, he broke free, hurling the rubble aside.
“This guy… Isn’t he a bit too strong?!”
“It must be a new Zombie Type! It must be running out of strength now. Don’t give up!”
“Just continue attacking!”
The Raiders may have limited Spirit Points right now, but they were still experienced fighters. They had survived numerous Zombie Wave Events, they reached at least 30 floors in the Boss Raid Challenge, they also defended their shelter during the Red Night Event, and even survived numerous Zombie Lord Hunting Missions… They didn’t believe that a single aberrant Tyrant Zombie would be strong enough to defeat them all!
In just a few moments, when Shane was getting his momentum, shields flared with protective auras, spears tipped with obsidian stones pierced his hide, and explosive daggers detonated against his chest. Everything happened too fast with Bismarck’s assistance, yet Shane endured it all!
His movements remained unaffected, with his aura pressing down on them!
Hanzo blinked again, carving glowing lines across Shane’s back. Kresh swung his axe in a desperate arc, crimson energy tried to pierce through his organs and arrows streaked through the ruins while numerous spears thrust forward…
The Night Raiders were going all out!
Then, as they all got closer to engage him in close combat, Shane unleashed Heaven’s Wrath!
[ Heaven’s Wrath Lv1: Summons a localized storm ( 30ft radius ) for 10 seconds, where every step the user takes triggers chain lightning, passing between enemies and stunning them briefly.
Limitation: Drains stamina rapidly; overuse risks cardiac overload. ]
Lightning erupted across a thirty-foot radius. Each step of the Tyrant Zombie triggered arcs of lightning that leapt between Raiders.
Just like that, shields were destroyed, skills failed to activate, and the Night Raiders staggered as electricity numbed their limbs. Hanzo’s dagger sparked in his grip, forcing him to retreat.
All of them were surprised by the sudden appearance of lightning but this was all weird since the beginning, so none of them were surprised anymore.
When the storm subsided, Shane vanished.
His hulking Tyrant form blurred unnaturally as Predator’s Edge took hold.
Indeed, Shane was planning to end this now!
The Raiders moved wildly, searching for him, but he was already behind them.
His long nails raked across the rim of a cracked tower shield, widening the split until it sheared apart. Another swipe sent a defender staggering with his flank exposed.
Bismarck’s third eye lit up even more, desperately scanning for Shane’s aura. He caught traces of his movement, but Predator’s Edge masked the Tyrant’s true position!
Then Shane struck with Force Breaker.
His hands glowed with momentum as he slammed into a defender’s shield.
BOom!
The impact shattered it instantly, shattering the protective aura.
Finally, all the defender-type Night Raiders were defeated!
They no longer have any Survivors that could stop him!
With a burst of speed, he followed through, piercing the Raider’s chestplate and throwing him across the rubble. Another strike snapped a spear shaft in two, leaving its wielder defenseless.
A third blow overloaded Hanzo’s parry, the shock traveled up his arm and forcing him to retreat, burning precious Spirit Points to recover!
The Night Raiders fought valiantly, their Legendary weapons were used to their limits… But each clash drained them further. Their blades would shatter, their shields would crack, and their stamina bled away with every exchange.
Shane’s Tyrant body was also regenerating wounds as fast as they were inflicted…
The clash dragged on, but the outcome was inevitable.
The Night Raiders’ strength was spent…
If Shane wasn’t worried that all the Legendary Items would be destroyed, he’d end this sooner…
After all, he already destroyed 5 Legendary Items of the Night Raiders… It would be a pity if he actually destroys them all during this battle…
Soon, Hanzo tried one last desperate Shadow Step, blinking behind Shane with his dagger raised and bombs planted on his body!
Those bombs could even kill a Zombie Lord!
“What?” Shane was shocked as he didn’t expect this person to be so desperate…
However, the man probably has a False Revival Talent or any skill that could help him survive even with 1 Vitality Point…
“Tsk…” Shane frowned as he had to escape from the man’s grasp!
