Chapter 1007: Zombie Lord and Under Observation
The Super Hunter Zombies circled the Night Raiders…
Seeing how they were even using blades, bats, and whatever item they could hold as weapons, they were certainly nothing compared to other Zombies. These Super Hunters are intelligent without a doubt.
They were also faster and sharper than the usual hordes, but Bismarck did not see them as enemies. He saw them as assets right now…
“Hold your blades,” he commanded with his third eye glowing faintly. “These creatures will serve us.”
From his inventory, he withdrew a parchment bound in black leather, etched with ancient engravings he couldn’t read…
[ Zombie Controlling Scroll: A high-tier artifact obtained only from Platinum Treasure Chests.
Effect: Allows the user to bind up to 30 zombies from any Zombie Class below the Zombie Lord. Bound zombies are stored within the scroll and can be released at will.
Activation: Requires 100 Spirit Points and a blood offering.
Limitations: Cannot bind Zombie Lord or special-type Zombies. Released Zombies can be controlled for 50 Spirit Points per second, and without control, the Zombie will act on instinct. ]
[ Current Zombies:
Armored Giant Zombie x5
Sonic Lurker King Zombie x1
Onslaught Spitter King Zombie x1
Steel King Zombie x1 ]
Bismarck smiled after seeing this…
Since he already had 8 Zombies inside the scroll, the additional 22 Super Hunter Zombies were simply perfect.
Bismarck pricked his thumb, letting blood drip onto the parchment.
The engravings flared, and a spectral chain shot outward, wrapping around the nearest Super Hunter. The creature snarled, thrashing violently, but the chain tightened, dragging its essence into the scroll.
It happened so easily!
These Zombies had no way of resisting this, as he spent 50 Spirit Points each to capture the Zombies.
One by one, the Night Raiders lured the hunters closer, weakening them with precise strikes before Bismarck’s scroll devoured their forms. Twenty-two Super Hunters were bound while Bismarck spent 1,100 Spirit Points.
However, even if he looked tired, he was definitely happy with this result!
The members of the Night Raiders also exchanged glances, impressed with Bismarck’s ability.
“With these beasts under our command, reclaiming the shoreline will be far easier,” Hanzo muttered.
Bismarck tucked the scroll away and nodded.
“They will be our hounds. When the time comes, I’ll unleash them.”
Just like that, the march continued… The terrain grew harsher, forcing them to weave through broken forests and collapsed villages. The scent of saltwater was faint but growing stronger.
Then, the scouts froze.
“Captain… there’s a presence nearby,” whispered one of the Raiders.
His Talent allowed him to sense Spirit fluctuations, and what he felt was overwhelming.
“It’s not on our path… but it’s close. A Zombie Lord.”
The Night Raiders immediately tensed…
Lords were rare, terrifying entities. They had evolved beyond Kings, and they were known to command General or even King-type Zombies. Avoiding it would be safer, but Bismarck’s eyes gleamed.
“Perfect,” he said. “We’ll take it. With a Lord under our control, the shoreline will be ours without contest.”
From his inventory, he withdrew another scroll, larger and heavier than the first. Its parchment seemed thicker, and it was also tied by a special ribbon.
[ Zombie Slaving Scroll: A mysterious artifact obtained only from a Red Crystal Trade.
Effect: Allows the binding of one Zombie Lord. Once enslaved, the creature obeys the user’s commands until destroyed.
Activation: Requires a ritual of weakening. The target must be reduced below 30% health.
Limitations: Consumes 1,000 Spirit Points. Failure may result in backlash, injuring the user. ]
With this Scroll, they would have no problem obtaining this Zombie Lord.
However, they needed to fulfill one of its conditions. They had to fight it and reduce its vitality below 30%.
That was not impossible to do, but the problem here was the fact that they could not see a Zombie’s vitality!
No one could. At the very least, no one in the Overlord Clan could accurately tell the Zombie Lord’s vitality. They would have to rely on their instinct or observation skills to do that…
Nonetheless, the Night Raiders advanced cautiously as they knew very well how much it would help them on their strategy to recapture their Fishing Zone…
Soon, in the ruins of a collapsed fortress, they saw their target.
[ You have entered a Lord-Tier Zombie’s Area. ]
Name: Bonehorn the Ravager
Type: Colossal Mutant
Threat Level: Catastrophic
[ Description: Bonehorn the Ravager is a Zombie Lord covered with natural bone armor. Its body has fused with skeletal bones that regenerate over time. The three horns from its skull had mysterious energy, and it commands lesser zombies through instinctive dominance. When enraged, Bonehorn can become even stronger. ]
The Night Raiders crouched low among the destroyed walls of the collapsed fortress. At this time, they weren’t noticed by the Zombie Lord just yet because of their own stealth abilities.
Well, they were part of this elite group for a reason. Soon, their eyes fixed on the clearing ahead.
Bonehorn the Ravager stood like a mountain of bone and muscle with its three horns seemingly emitting a miasma around it…
But what caught their attention even more were the three figures flanking it.
Each was a Zombie King that they had to deal with first before being able to fight the Zombie Lord.
The first one was Smoker King Zombie. Its bloated chest expanded and contracted while releasing thick clouds of toxic vapor like a living fog.
The stench was suffocating, and even from a distance, the Raiders could feel their lungs tighten.
Then, there was also the Licker King Zombie. It was a creature with an elongated tongue that lashed out like a whip, and they knew from previous encounters that it was hiding three more tongues that would be used to surprise its enemy…
These hidden tongues had claimed a lot of lives, so they knew that they needed to be careful in front of them…
Finally, there was a Hunter King Zombie. Unlike the other Zombie Kings, it was lean and seemed more like a Super Soldier… Then, it also looked really intelligent, ready to pounce at the slightest provocation.
Together, the three Kings formed a living barrier around Bonehorn…
Hanzo whispered… “This is a bit too unfair… We will have to face them all at the same time.”
Indeed, entering another Zombie Lord’s territory would normally pit them against weaker zombies first until they reached the Zombie Lord’s main Chamber.
This time, however, there was no buffer zone. They would have to immediately face them all, and not one by one.
Bismarck’s third eye glowed faintly as he studied the Zombies carefully.
He wasn’t reckless… He knew the Kings had to be weakened or distracted before they could even create some serious damage to the Zombie Lord.
They had to plan their approach carefully since the Slaving Scroll could only be used after the Zombie Lord reached the required health…
But the thought of enslaving Bonehorn, with three Kings as potential spoils afterward, made his blood stir.
“We’ll break them one by one,” he murmured. “The Lord cannot be touched until its guards fall… so we have to use our Legendary Items for now…”
To be honest, many of them didn’t want to overuse their Legendary Grade items. After all, it wasn’t easy to obtain them. Even if you had plenty of Item Upgrade Crystals, it wasn’t guaranteed that they could upgrade an item to such a level.
They couldn’t just let its durability run low against weaker opponents. They didn’t have any blacksmith or craftsman who could repair this level of equipment in the first place….
One by one, they reached into their inventories.
Hanzo was the first. He unsheathed a blade that shimmered with a faint violet glow.
[ Shadowfang Dagger (Legendary): An Assassin Weapon…
Effect: +40% Critical Damage, +25% Attack Speed
Special Ability: Shadow Step – Teleports the user within 10 meters, leaving behind an afterimage that explodes in shadow energy. ]
Another Raider, a burly fighter named Kresh, hefted a massive axe from his Inventory.
[ Bloodreaver Axe (Legendary): A Heavy Weapon…
Effect: +50% Damage against Mutant-class Zombies
Special Ability: Blood Frenzy – Restores 5% of health for every kill. ]
Another Raider also brought out the Legendary Weapon that he obtained in a Platinum Treasure Chest.
[ Twin Serpent Blades (Legendary): A Dual Weapon…
Effect: +30% Attack Speed, +20% Poison Damage
Special Ability: Venom Surge – Coats blades in corrosive venom for 5 seconds, ignoring armor. ]
Others followed suit, bows that glowed with fire, spears tipped with mystical stones, shields that radiated protective auras. Each item was rare, costly, and irreplaceable.
Bismarck himself drew his weapon last. From his inventory, he pulled a massive halberd…
It didn’t take that long before everyone was ready.
But as they prepared to strike, none of them noticed the small shadow watching from the rubble…
It was an ordinary-looking rat that blended perfectly in the shadows. It had scurried along the broken stones with its whiskers twitching.
Its eyes glowed faintly deep red as it observed everything that was happening…
As soon as Fiona, the Rat Princess, realized what was happening, she immediately shared the information with Shane, who was getting closer to this spot!
