From Bullets To Billions - Chapter 450
450: Sable Vix, The Tactician 450: Sable Vix, The Tactician Vivian, or better known in the Black Hounds as Vix, was currently walking around the second venue, carefully inspecting the crop of fighters assembled in the lounge.
She was gathering crucial information so she could help with the betting that was about to take place.
There were still odds to be worked out, and there were quite a few newcomers she needed to assess.
Vix was known as the tactician of the gang, and it was widely rumored that she had a quite a good eye for talent and weakness.
So, walking around, based on people’s general demeanor, their sheer size, their muscle definition, and other small things, she was giving information to the host on what initial bets to make.
But there was a second, more pressing reason why she was here.
‘Due to the trouble that happened at the last event, Darius told me to come in person to make sure things are smooth,’Vix thought, her heels clicking softly on the floor.
‘But I don’t understand, if they’re that worried about Chad causing another scene, then why did they invite that useless guy back in the first place?
Doesn’t he still owe us money?’ Her mind shifted to the deeper conspiracy.
‘If things are correct, last time, the group that attacked while Chad was in the betting booth was known as the Billion Bloodline Group.
Jett passed on some information saying that the Billion Bloodline Group was also a business, but it seems that the two organizations are actually linked and one and the same.’ Vix scowled internally.
‘And the head of it all is some kid with red hair, but there are no details of his name, and Jett couldn’t remember anything about his name, the useless buffoon!’ Vivian was thinking, running scenarios.
If the two things were linked, what if it wasn’t a coincidence that the Bloodline Group had attacked that day when Chad was there?
Although the Head of the Billion Bloodline Group was officially meant to be at another meeting today, there was a good chance that maybe they would decide to attack rather than just take a cautious, wait-and-see approach.
‘If they are linked, wasn’t there that other kid as well?
The Stern family member that Chad had brought with him.
He had red hair as well, but he was so young… this is annoying.
There was no one we could really question as to what happened that day either.’ ‘But I guess that’s why Darius is worried as well, because the leader of this Billion Bloodline group could be another Stern,’ she concluded.
‘Although that’s an opportunity for us, this one could actually have a decent head on his shoulders.’ While Vix was walking around the room, deep in her paranoid thoughts, she stopped directly in front of two contestants and looked at them rather oddly.
“What the,” Vix demanded, her voice sharp.
“Are we so lacking in fighters that we’re letting in scrawny kids right now?” A man with a mask on his face, complete with a distinctive hat and a question mark design, the event’s host, came scurrying over, rubbing his hands together nervously.
“Although these two look young, they have quite the reputation,” the host quickly claimed.
“This is Wolf, the head of the Pit Gang, a street gang known for their fighting from Mancur City, and this is his second-in-command.
Due to their reputation, we decided to bring them in, as we thought they would be quite interesting.” Vix looked at the two of them for a while, assessing the subtle differences between their trained, street-honed bodies.
Then, she went ahead and grabbed Joe’s body, her fingers probing his shoulders and then running quickly across the rest of his frame.
She was feeling his bone density, his muscle firmness, everything.
“You’re right, I judged too quickly,” Vix conceded, finally letting go.
“They’re good enough.
But put them down as C ranks.” The host quickly noted that down as Vix walked off.
Vix used letter rankings for the participants, and in doing so, this would decide the odds when going up against different fighters.
If two C ranks were fighting, then the odds would be even.
If an A rank and C rank were fighting, then the odds would be heavily skewed in one favor.
The fights were always in a tournament-style fashion anyway, so it didn’t account for previous damage from earlier fights or tiredness, which was what made it a little more exciting, and profitable, for them all.
“So she ranks people like that as well,” Wolf scoffed, shaking his head once Vix was out of earshot.
“Although to give us a C rank… I guess she’s just basing that off your body.
What a poor ranking system she has.” Joe flexed his fingers, the newly awakened energy flowing beneath his skin.
“And I guess now that we have the power of the Vow, that is something impossible to see unless it’s with your own eye,” he replied, a grim confidence in his voice.
After Vix finished walking around and evaluating everyone, she gave the signal that they were free to head to the rooftop to enjoy themselves and that they were to enter the stage when the fight was to officially start.
As everyone made their way to the rooftop, the spectators were immediately excited and pleased because it meant that the fighting could start at any moment.
Wolf was immediately looking around for Chad and could see him sitting on his own at a round table that was slightly elevated, giving him a perfect, isolated view of the fighting arena.
He looked incredibly isolated, and his eyes were wide with genuine fear.
“That’s Vivian… what is she doing here!” Chad mumbled to himself, recognizing Vix instantly.
He remembered full well that she was the one who had paid him a terrifying visit along with Max the last time she had demanded payment.
Now, seeing her here meant this wasn’t just a friendly betting event, it was a trap.
