Chapter 377: Chapter 377 – I Will Become That
Atlas once again found himself drifting at the edge of his own consciousness, taking several deep breaths as he looked at the figure of Dullorak floating before him.
How many times had he tried this with the Void Core? If he counted correctly, this was the twelfth attempt. Yet every single time, it felt as if his very soul was being pulled apart, shredded into pieces he could barely hold together.
He knew, of course, that nothing fatal would happen to him. Dullorak and the others were there to make sure of that, always keeping him safe. But still… it was not enough.
Like… this time, Atlas was fighting something completely different. If before he had struggled to master his mind in countless training sessions, now he was facing something deeper. Now he was fighting to control his own soul.
It was an extraordinary kind of training. And surprisingly, astonishingly difficult.
A faint smile appeared on his lips, followed by a quiet chuckle.
Of course, he had never expected his training to become monotonous, had he? Only through challenges like this could he keep evolving, pushing himself toward new and greater heights.
“Damn it!” Atlas muttered under his breath.
He would do what he always did. Keep trying until he broke through this limit.
Once he was done with the Void Core, he moved on to the next part of his training. He would jump from the height toward the floating island below.
He had truly lost all fear of heights now, which was an incredible improvement. Atlas felt like he could finally breathe freely as he dove through the air, gliding and maneuvering with ease. He even began practicing his combat techniques by controlling the surrounding air element.
He could glide, slow his fall, and change direction at will. Atlas no longer needed any kind of gliding device.
Although, at this point, he was still only using the most basic form of air element manipulation and had not yet managed to trigger any new skill that might be even more impressive.
But well, as long as he enjoyed the process, he would keep doing it. Day after day, pushing himself further.
Then came the next morning, and the one after that, until finally, the day arrived when they were scheduled to return to their own islands.
Atlas stood before thousands of soldiers on the surface of the floating island, the wide grass field swaying gently in the soft morning breeze. His elite subordinates and several other lords stood by his side at that moment.
“Can’t we just go back to our own islands right away?” he asked, glancing toward Luna with a hint of hesitation in his voice.
“Atlas!” Ember was the one who responded immediately. “You’re the leader of this alliance. You have to give them your inspiring words!”
Atlas fell silent for a moment.
Ember added quickly. “We ended up clashing with Bolin because of your trash talk that night, remember? So show some spirit!”
Atlas gave her an awkward smile at that. “Your words sound more like you’re blaming me than cheering me up, Ember!” he said.
Ember just giggled in response, clearly amused.
Atlas took a deep breath, and his eyes sharpened with unwavering focus. He wore his full Nightfall Sentinel Armor Set. Then he summoned his Wavebreaker Spear, the legendary-grade weapon he had not used for quite some time.
With firm steps, Atlas walked forward until he could clearly see the thousands of soldiers lined up before him in perfect formation. The army before him was not made up of only his own subordinates, but also those who served under the other lords of the alliance.
Still, because they would soon fight as one united force… At this moment, they truly stood as one. Each of them would rely on the others to win their battles ahead.
Atlas paused for a moment, realizing that his speech today would be broadcast to every island of every lord, allowing even those who were not present to hear his words.
He gave a faint smile, knowing full well that Luna had gone to great lengths to place him in this position, huh?
Taking another slow breath, Atlas looked once more at the sea of people standing before him. He steadied himself, reaffirming everything within him before he spoke.
“I…” Atlas began, pausing for a moment as his voice echoed across the vast field, carried clearly through Kaeris’s control of the Air Element.
“I was falling into the deep ravine the moment I was chosen as a lord. No matter what I did or tried to do, I was already as good as dead at that moment, if the system hadn’t saved me and given me this chance.”
He continued. “I started my journey as a lord on an island no bigger than half a football field. Just a stretch of desert with no resources at all.”
Atlas tried to keep his words brief, yet he felt the urge to speak his heart completely.
“I trained! Harder than ever, as far as my mind and soul could endure!” he continued, his voice rising with each word.
“I completed my rank-1 lord battle in just two seasons, and by my third battle season, I had already reached level 167. Ready to face rank-3, even standing close to rank-4.”
He paused again, taking a breath.
“I pushed myself, truly pushed! Not a single day passed without training, without forcing myself to go higher, to defeat someone stronger.”
He fell silent once more. “For what reason?”
Atlas shook his head. “I have none.”
He shook his head again, slower this time. “I simply gave myself entirely to this lord battle system.”
The soldiers before him stirred, reacting faintly to his last words.
“I sold my soul to this lord battle system,” he said firmly. “If the system demands a powerful lord, one who wins again and again…”
“I will become that!”
Atlas paused again, and this time he could feel every word burning inside him, ready to be spoken with his whole soul.
“If the system demands a lord who can lead, who can plan, or even be cunning. Someone who uses every bit of his strength to win…”
“I will become that!”
He said it firmly, a faint smile touching his lips.
“If the system demands a lord who can command vast armies, earn their respect, and be fully followed by his people…”
“I will become that!”
He said it again, his eyes growing sharper with determination.
“We will move forward and face something enormous,” he continued. “A challenge that will never seem reasonable to anyone. Except to those who believe in themselves and are willing to give everything for this war.”
He paused once more before continuing. “We have trained, prepared, and planned every single possible strategy, down to the smallest detail. We might look reckless, maybe even foolish.”
A faint smile curved his lips. “But that’s good… it means we’ll have the chance to strike back at them, to shock them with what we’ll show at the finish line.”
He swallowed hard and then raised his voice, his words thundering across the field.
“We will march forward! And we are ready to win!”
For a moment, the entire area fell silent. Then, all at once, the stillness shattered.
Everyone roared, lifting their weapons high as their voices thundered across the field. The sound was raw, filled with passion, echoing from the depths of their throats.
Atlas could feel it. The atmosphere, the sheer intensity of it all, pulsing through the air like a living force.
Yes! There was not a trace of doubt left in him. Atlas knew it with absolute certainty.
He would win this war!
