Chapter 479: Going Out for a Walk
In the end, most of the city was affected due to the demon war. But these hard times also created a lot of talented individuals who shone brightly during this war. Some of them were also directly admitted in the Thunderpeak Academy or even taken in by other institutes or powers.
Orion walked toward a large square at the corner of the city. There, on large stone monuments a lot of names were engraved. Those were the names of people who died while fighting the demons.
Their family members or close friends come from all over the city to pay their respect daily. Orion also came this time to visit this place and pay his respect to the predecessors who fought until the end to protect the city.
He stood in front of a monument with Nyss at his side, silently gazing at the names. He inwardly wondered, would he have been able to fight to the death against the demons here or run away since he was capable of it?
In the end, he couldn’t come to any conclusion, and it wasn’t because he loved his life too much but because too many people were connected to him. If he were to unfortunately die, then not only would his grandparents be depressed after losing someone precious to them again but quite a few people would be affected as well.
He inwardly shook his head, ‘No point thinking about it, I don’t think we will be reaching that point here.’
Nyss tilted her head upwards and softly said, “It’s almost time for the auction.”
Orion came to his senses and looked towards the sky, “Yes, it’s time. Let’s go, I want to see if there is something good in the auction. Hopefully it won’t disappoint me.”
“Don’t have too much hope of it. It’s a local auction after all.” Nyss said, fearing he would have too high expectations for the auction.
Orion turned around and headed some distance away from the solemn square where the families were mourning before speaking, “Don’t worry, I’m just going there to join in on the fun. If there is something interesting there then I will buy it, if not then I won’t be disappointed.”
Nyss nodded her head and didn’t say anything further.
Soon, the two of them reached back the auction house after crossing half the city, by now a stream of people were entering the auction house. Despite the scale of the auction being small, the items were still very enticing for the average cultivators in the city.
Orion could see cultivators from Tier 4 all the way to Tier 9, some even had hidden aura making it impossible for him to gauge their strength.
But he didn’t pay too much attention to them, after all they were here to bid on treasures and not to fight. And even if it came down to fight he wasn’t afraid of anyone except of course Exalted Grade beings, but how rare were they?
They wouldn’t be joining in the fun between juniors here in such a small auction.
Just as the two of them were about to head towards the auction house, something inside Orion’s SoC stirred and before he could react the Soulpiercer Sword flew out of his SoC and rapidly transformed into an average-looking adult woman.
Orion looked at Asteraxa’s changed face with slight shock, “Damn you can come out on your own?”
Asteraxa’s lips twitched slightly, “Of course, I just didn’t want to bother before so I never came out but it’s been too long and I want to take some fresh air so I came out.”
Nyss warily looked towards the newcomer, secretly wondering what her relationship with Orion was. As for how she came in front of them all of a sudden? She didn’t bother to think that way, the only thing concerning her was her relationship with Orion.
Orion also saw Nyss looking at Asteraxa, he lightly coughed, “Cough, let me introduce you to each other. Nyss, she is Asteraxa… just consider her my close friend. And Asteraxa, as you already know she is Nyss, one of my club members.”
Asteraxa charmingly smiled towards Nyss and nodded her head, “Hello, nice to meet you.”
Nyss looked at her with slight confusion, ‘Close friend? How close?’
Asteraxa, seeing Nyss lost in thought, turned to Orion and said, “Well I’ll be exploring the city. I’ll be back before the auction ends.”
Orion asked with a hint of worry in his tone, “Are you sure you are fine? Your main body is damaged right now. Moving like this might be troublesome.”
Asteraxa rolled her eyes at his words, “Alright little mister no need to worry so much. I’m not so fragile that the wind will break me. Alright I’ll be going now.”
Before he could say anything else, she abruptly vanished from in front of him. Nyss also came to her senses and looked ahead in shock.
“Orion, who was she? How strong is she?” She finally asked after getting over her shock.
Orion speechlessly looked at the scene where Asteraxa vanished. He speechlessly thought to himself, ‘Damn it, couldn’t you vanish after going some distance away? Now see what mess you left for me to deal with.’
He turned to look at Nyss and calmly said, “She is a friend whom I found before meeting with my grandparents, as for how strong she is? To be honest I don’t know, she has never made a move in front of me.”
Lumi’s voice sounded at this time in his mind,
[Hmph, that Dragon-Cow is nothing more than a broken sword. Master doesn’t need to mind her! (ง’̀-‘́)ง]
Hearing her words, he wryly smiled and changed the subject, “Alright let’s go inside the auction. We already wasted quite some time.”
Nyss nodded her head and walked towards the entrance of the auction house with Orion.
There were two roads to enter the auction house, one for normal people and another for the VIPs. And of course Nyss and Orion took the VIP route and headed straight for the private room number 1.
They soon reached their room. Orion quietly opened the door, only to find four young maidens standing inside, waiting quietly for the guests.
The four of them bowed gracefully and said in unison, “Welcome, Young Master, to the Spring Breeze Auction House.”
Orion raised an eyebrow, “Not bad not bad. They certainly know how to keep the guest happy.”
Nyss entered inside the room and frowned seeing the four young women standing inside.
The girls hurriedly bowed again seeing Nyss enter, “Welcome Young Miss, to the Spring Breeze Auction House.”
Nyss didn’t say anything and went to sit on the sofa at the end of the room.
The room was lavishly decorated with silver and gold as if it was worthless crap. And it truly was worthless crap since there was no use of it for the cultivators. Gold could still be used in alchemy but its uses were limited and it was quite common.
And beside the decoration, the room was mostly empty with three sofas at the front and a table placed right in front of the glass panel. And outside the glass panel was a vast hall where the auction would take place.
