Chapter 452: Blood Flame City
Orion and the rest had been traveling for a few hours now, seeing the beautiful sceneries on the way from high above the sky.
Inside the carriage, there were only the three of them while Lucan was driving the carriage. Edgar didn’t come this time as he was busy with some other stuff, while Lucan would return after leaving him due to the academy’s rules.
During this time, Orion had also made some plans about what to do after reaching the city. Since the Test of the academy was nothing more than to make contributions in the city against the demons.
And out of the 250 remaining students after the first test, the bottom 50 who made the least contributions would be eliminated during this test. So no one could afford to slack off.
Orion didn’t care about the bottom ranks as his goal was to get the top spot without a doubt. But strength alone wouldn’t cut it as there were myriad ways to make contributions, not only to kill demons.
So he needed to make more preparations once he reached the city. Fiora and Rina on the other hand didn’t care much about the ranking, they had firm belief that Orion would get the top spot.
And for that reason, their only reason in coming here was to train and spend some time together with Orion.
The two of them sat on either side of Orion as Fiora sent a sound transmission to Rina, ‘Did you only come to train this time?’
Rina didn’t turn her head to look at her but inwardly said, ‘Hmph! I need to make sure the others didn’t get ahead of me. So I came this time not only to train but also to get closer to Master.’
Fiora inwardly nodded her head, this was what she was expecting from Rina as she knew this sister of hers too well. ‘Hmm, we already talked with Nyss, and she doesn’t seem to be budging about this. Is she looking to compete with everyone for Master?’
Rina said with a slight sneer on her face, ‘If it was that easy then we would have already gotten Master’s heart. She is thinking too much. But we can’t be sure yet. Princess hasn’t shown it frankly like Nyss but I think she is also after Master, though she is too shy about it. I don’t think Nyss will get any advantage above the rest of us.’
‘Sigh,’ Fiora couldn’t help but sigh with a light headache hearing about everything, ‘This is too troublesome. I won’t bother with all of this, I will just wait for Master to accept me. I have all the time and I can wait for Master. He won’t throw me away anyway.’
Even Rina became silent at her words as the two of them became lost in their own thoughts.
Orion on the other hand was thinking about something else, ‘I wonder if Lyra will get cavities after eating too many sweets.’
[You are overthinking Master. Don’t be a grumpy papa for her. (´⊙ω⊙`)!]
His lips twitched hearing her call him grumpy papa, ‘You… sigh anyways, looks like I can let go and unleash all of my powers during this trip. I already discussed with Grandpa and he told me it’s alright to use my Draconic Form.’
Lumi nodded her head, agreeing with Eldric,
[Yes, we can’t afford to hold back against demons. Otherwise we won’t even know how we died. It’s best to conserve some strength for emergencies while fighting.]
Looking out of the window, he thoughtfully said while rubbing his chin, ‘Yes, that’s when Asteraxa will come in handy. I can take care of most Tier 9 beings using her. And I don’t think there will be many Exalted Grade beings in this battlefield.’
[We should regroup with the others first. I think they will have more details about the situation since they reached the place early.]
Orion nodded his head and closed his eyes to rest.

Soon, after half a day, a flying carriage descended from the skies, appearing outside the massive city situated on the vast flatlands.
Orion, Fiora, and Rina gazed out of the carriage window, silently observing the shocking landscape before them.
The once fertile and beautiful plains had been turned into an unsightly sight, scarred by violent battles and burned by destructive energies.
Craters, trenches, and scorched earth were everywhere outside the city walls, painting a grim picture of the fierce battles that had taken place here.
The ominous remnants of demonic creatures were scattered all around the city’s perimeter, creating an eerie, unsettling atmosphere.
Black and red blood stained the soil, and a faint aura of death and resentment lingered on the ground, showing that countless intense confrontations had occurred.
And if this resentment wasn’t cleansed in time, then it would give birth to some dark beings like ghosts or evil spirits. But that would take a long time, and this was also one of the reasons why ancient battlefields were so dangerous for others to explore.
Fortunately, there were no human bodies left behind; the city’s soldiers had clearly recovered their fallen comrades, preserving their dignity and preventing further desecration.
Observing from high above, Orion noticed the vigilant demeanor of the soldiers standing on the towering city walls.
Each soldier was standing firmly at attention with their weapons ready. Their eyes constantly scanned the horizons, clearly wary of any surprise demonic incursions since this had happened far too many times during the last year or so.
The flying carriage descended and came to a smooth stop just outside the heavily fortified gates.
Orion stepped down first, carefully surveying his surroundings, with Fiora and Rina closely following him, their faces equally solemn as they quietly looked at the dark scene.
Lucan, remaining seated on the driver’s seat, turned his head towards Orion and spoke with his usual playful tone, “Good luck, Young Master. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to accompany you any further.”
Orion turned to look at him with a gentle smile, nodding his head, “Thanks for the ride, Brother Lucan. And remember, don’t spoil Little Lyra too much with sweets.”
Lucan laughed heartily, his eyes shining mischievously as the carriage slowly lifted off the ground again, “Hahaha, Young Master, I can’t make any such promises! She will beat me up if I don’t give her sweets.”
With that, the carriage swiftly ascended back into the sky, vanishing quickly from sight.
Orion could only shake his head with a helpless smile. He softly muttered to himself, “Well, you deserve to get beaten.”
Turning back to face the fortified city gate, he sighed lightly before saying calmly, “Well, let’s go and find the others first.”
Rina and Fiora nodded simultaneously, stepping closer to Orion’s side as they approached the imposing city entrance.
Upon reaching it, Orion noticed that the enormous gates were tightly shut, with only a small viewport sliding open.
A pair of cautious eyes stared out from within, accompanied by a gruff voice asking warily, “Who are you?”
Orion nodded his head in appreciation seeing the cautious nature of the guards, he spoke with a calm tone, “Orion Helstorm, from Duke House Helstorm. I’ve arrived here for the Thunderpeak Royal Academy’s Test.”
As he spoke, Orion’s gaze momentarily drifted upward, noticing the large engraved name above the gate: Blood Flame City.
