Chapter 447: Past
Lumi thoughtfully said,

[That might be possible, after all it’s been a good while since she had started talking normally with you.]

Orion nodded in agreement and shortly after reached outside Seraph’s room. He gently knocked on the door of the room, “Seraph, it’s me.”

He heard footsteps coming as the door soon opened and Seraph’s calm face with a hint of nervousness, “I’ve… been waiting for you.”

Orion chuckled softly, “You didn’t have to wait for me. You can just come to my room if you want to talk you know.”

Saying so, he entered inside the room and glanced around to see that the room remained unchanged despite him not visiting it for weeks. He inwardly exhaled a sigh at her disinterest in anything.

He went ahead towards the chair and table beside the window and sat down while Seraph took her seat across him.

Settling comfortably on the chair, he softly exhaled and said, “It’s been weeks since I last came to your room but it’s still the same.”

Seraph’s lips curled into an almost imperceptible smile as she softly said, “At least you told me about your trip before heading out this time.”

Orion looked at her speechlessly, “Why are you saying as if I leave somewhere without telling you? I was half dead the last time I couldn’t tell you about it.”

She finally smiled a little hearing his words while Orion couldn’t help but shake his head, he asked, “So anyways, what did you want to tell me?”

Hearing his words, she took a deep breath as her expression turned serious, she slowly said, “I… want to tell you about my past. During these past few weeks, I have sorted out my memories and want to tell you about them.”

Orion’s expression also turned serious as he sat up straight and nodded his head towards her for her to continue speaking.

Seraph mulled inwardly for a bit before she started saying, “I was the… Second Princess of an Empire in the Elven Zone.”

Orion nodded his head with an expression that said, ‘Just as I expected.’

She didn’t notice his expression as she continued speaking, “I was one of the most talented heirs in the history of my kingdom, born with Tier 6 Wood Element.”

Orion raised an eyebrow with surprise, ‘Tier 6? Damn, her talent is same as those Top True Dragons.’

She continued, “My talent was so good that I quickly overshadowed my Elder Sister and other Royal Brothers. But everything changed when I reached my 18th birthday, my mother was assassinated, and while the palace was in chaos, someone came in the palace and put a curse upon me, sealing my mana channels and my SoC while fully suppressing my talent.”

Orion’s expression held a hint of anger, he knew someone had betrayed her in the palace. Otherwise no one would be able to enter and place a curse upon her without anyone taking action.

But she continued speaking, seemingly not seeing Orion’s slightly angry expression, “And slowly, my father and other family members began to make distance from me until somehow the imperial decree came that I conspired with outsiders and killed my mother and then without even a trial I was thrown in the dungeon.”

Orion clenched his fist, ‘These beasts! They throw an 18 year old girl in a dungeon??’

She paused here, looking at Orion who was obviously angry hearing her story, she exhaled a sigh of relief as she seemed to choose the right person to share her past with. ‘

She continued saying, “Only after a week of imprisonment in the dungeon, I got to know what had happened and why it had happened. My First Royal Sister, who I had overshadowed orchestrated everything.”

Her fist clenched while her shoulder slightly trembled as she mentioned this part, but she grit her teeth and continued saying, “She came in the dungeon every once in a while for a few weeks to laugh at me while screaming how I stole her limelight and how I dare to fight with her for the throne.”

Orion’s brows furrowed, the one thing he hated about the royal family the most was the infighting and bloodbath for the ascension of the throne. Because there was no right or wrong in that, only winner and loser.

But before he could think further, she continued, “But I never even wanted the throne, and I didn’t even show any interest in the throne… she just assumed everything on her own. But killing my mom, sealing my talent, and throwing me in the dungeon wasn’t enough for her… She sent me in the deepest part of the dungeon in an environmental isolation chamber, where there was no light or anyone to talk with, only endless darkness with no sense of time or self.”

Her body trembled as she mentioned this, reliving the most horrifying part of her life from the past. Orion’s expression turned increasingly cold as he heard her words.

She continued, “She kept me there for a year while sending food once every few weeks without visiting even once. But then for some reason, she started to come every once in a while and told me how it was all my fault that my mom died and our father abandoned me… but even that wasn’t enough for her. She started placing illusion formations in my cell, replaying the day of my mother’s death…”

Her voice cracked as she reached here, her eyes welling up with tears. Orion shifted his chair beside her and wiped her tears before he placed his hand upon her hand to comfort her.

She took a deep breath to calm down, and continued, “It continued like this for a decade until my caretaker, the old granny who used to take care of me somehow got the chance to break in the dungeon and came to find me hurriedly to take me away.”

Even her hands shook as she remembered that day, “But she was found by my First Sister, who came inside the dungeon with a group of guards to arrest her with charges of treason. But granny came prepared for something like this, she took out a one time use Long Distance Teleportation Scroll and sent me away from that hell.”

“That’s how I came to the Human Zone, but before I could even make sense of the situation, I was captured by those people and was later sold into slavery. But fortunately, you… saved me…”

She finally finished speaking all the things she had buried deeply in her heart, for fear of someone telling all this to her First Sister.

But she finally found someone who took care of her and whom she can trust. But after she finished speaking, she couldn’t stop the tears flooding her eyes and before realizing it, she burst out with tears.

She had been holding in everything for far too long, with no one to share her burdens and no one to share her past. She couldn’t talk with anyone and she couldn’t ask for help from anyone.

Orion hugged her tightly and patted her back softly as she cried her heart out, “Sigh, don’t worry. I will help you get everything back with interest. For now… you can cry all you want.”

She seemed to be even more stimulated hearing Orion’s words as she grabbed his robe and cried loudly, while Orion continued to softly pat her back with a melancholic look on his face.

Lumi, who had stayed silent until now while hearing Seraph’s past, finally broke the silence and softly said,

[Looks like her memory wasn’t locked by the curse but she couldn’t speak about it due to her trust issue as well as the trauma of her own past.]

Orion deeply agreed with her and continued to silently comfort Seraph in his embrace.

Seeing the continued scene, Lumi couldn’t help but release the notifications that had been built up for a while now.

[Ding!]

[Congratulations, Quest: Fate Unravel II Completed.]

[Reward: 5000 SP (10x times reward due to the degree of completion)]

[Bonus Reward: Tracking Map (Can help to track the person who cursed Seraph, Range of use: One Zone)]

Orion raised an eyebrow looking at the rewards, but the only thing he was concerned about was the Tracking Map.

His eyes flashed with a cold light but just then Asteraxa’s voice sounded in his mind.

[You don’t need to think about finding trouble with the person who cursed Seraph. If I’m not wrong then he is at least at the Paragon Level or even above. So you should wait until you reach that level.]

Orion suppressed the anger in his heart and nodded his head inwardly as his eyes narrowed, ‘Don’t worry, I don’t plan to seek him out so soon. But he won’t live for long.’

Lumi softly said,

[It looks like your next Fate related quest will be in a while.]

Orion shook his head, ‘I don’t care. It will be when it will be. For now…’ his expression softened as he looked at Seraph in his embrace. Sighing softly, he started to softly console her.

After a couple hours, he put her to sleep and left her room with a heavy heart towards his own room.
