Chapter 444: Reaching Home
Edgar and Lucan exchanged awkward glances, both having matching wry smiles. Eventually, Edgar sighed gently and replied, “It’s not that we didn’t want to look for you, Young Master. Master Eldric specifically ordered us not to intervene. He wanted you to experience this journey independently, considering it as a part of your training.”
Lucan nodded seriously, quickly adding with a playful wink, “We never doubted your ability to overcome any obstacles, Young Master. And clearly, you’ve done more than well for yourself. You look even fatter than you left.”
Orion’s lips twitched, “What nonsense. Even if you die from overeating I won’t get fat.”
At his side, Lyra tugged softly at Orion’s robe, tilting her head curiously and innocently looking up at Edgar and Lucan, who remained clearly fascinated looking at her.
She tugged lightly again, whispering softly yet audibly, “Papa, who are these strange uncles staring at Lyra?”
Lucan and Edgar immediately exchanged stunned glances, eyes widening in shock and confusion at her choice of words.
Lucan’s mouth hung open comically, finally managing to sputter out incredulously, “Papa…? Young Master, this… this girl is your… daughter?”
Orion’s face darkened immediately, his lips twitching violently as he shot Lucan an exasperated glare, “Of course not! She just refuses to call me anything else. I found her… found her somewhere. That’s all!”
Lucan chuckled uncontrollably, elbowing Edgar lightly, “Sir Edgar, did you hear? Our Young Master is already raising a child! Wait until the others hear about this.”
Edgar’s lips twitched as he restrained the smile that threatened to break out in laughter, “Let’s go, Young Master. I’m sure Master Eldric and Lady Selene will be happy to see her.”
Lucan nodded his head repeatedly, “Of course, of course, they became Great-Grandparents after all. Haha, I wonder how Young Master plans to explain this to them.”
Orion looked at him with a speechless look, “You are enjoying this a bit too much, no? Wait until we go for the celebration of your breakthrough, see if I don’t make you broke all at once.”
Lucan’s lips twitched as his laughter died down, he said with a forced smile, “Young Master, is Magi not enough for such a financial beating? That guy is resilient, my poor heart can’t take it.”
Orion turned his head and walked towards the carriage standing at a distance, “Let’s go, I want to head home after so long. I need to head out for the academy test in the next few days then.”
Lucan and Edgar looked at each other before following after Orion and Lyra. Soon, they reached the luxurious obsidian carriage standing where at the original position of the two of them.
Seeing the carriage, Lyra’s eyes widened in curiosity and excitement. Orion picked her up and helped her to get on the carriage before entering inside and settling himself comfortably beside Lyra.
Edgar followed calmly, maintaining his respectful demeanor, while Lucan swiftly climbed up to the driver’s seat at the front. Despite his breakthrough, he had no intention of abandoning his position as Orion’s carriage driver, it was a role he seemed to quite enjoy.
Orion smiled slightly, shaking his head softly at Lucan’s stubbornness. He had asked him before if he wanted someone else to become his carriage driver while he could be lazy somewhere, but Lucan had refused. He didn’t mind it either.
After all, Lucan was not just his subordinate; he was both his friend and a brother figure. Without further delay, the carriage smoothly entered the bustling streets of the capital, drawing the eyes of numerous passersby.
Lyra pressed her small face against the carriage window, her emerald eyes wide in fascination as she observed the vibrant life within Thunderpeak Capital.
Orion gently explained to her about each place they passed through, from the lively and crowded fifth ring filled with commoners, small markets, and cheerful street vendors, all the way toward the inner rings.
When they crossed into the fourth ring, where prosperous merchants and affluent individuals resided, the streets were even more bustling with activity as this was the place where the majority of the cultivators of the city came to trade or rest.
Lyra curiously pointed at beautifully decorated shops and splendidly dressed people, eagerly asking Orion endless questions about the differences between each ring.
Soon, they passed into the third and second rings, entering the domain of high-ranking nobility. The streets here were meticulously maintained, decorated with fragrant gardens, mansions, and fountains sparkling elegantly in the sunlight.
Lyra was utterly captivated, her mouth slightly agape as she gazed upon the splendor around her. She hadn’t seen such grand places before, after all, Orion had only taken her to some small cities.
Finally, after a leisurely ride, the carriage arrived before the Helstorm Mansion, its structure radiating a majestic aura.
The gates swung open smoothly as the carriage approached, allowing the group to enter without delay.
Lucan brought the carriage to a stop in front of the main entrance of the mansion. Orion stepped down calmly and carefully lifted Lyra into his arms, placing her gently onto the ground below.
Edgar descended next, bowing slightly toward Orion with a mysterious and amused smile on his face. With a subtle sparkle in his eyes, he said, “Young Master, Master Eldric is awaiting your arrival in the main hall.”
Orion narrowed his eyes suspiciously, his lips curling into a smile, “Why so stiff? Haha, it’s been a while since I met with him. Let’s see what my grandpa is up to.”
He could feel it wouldn’t be anything good, but he couldn’t anticipate what he had up his sleeve now.
Lyra looked at him with a tilted head, Orion looked at her with a smile and grabbed her small hand before walking inside the mansion.
Inside, Lyra nervously asked, “Papa, are we going to meet with your grandparents?”
Orion stopped in his tracks, lowered his head, and looked at her straight and said, “Now, you must call me Big Brother, alright? We can’t mess around here, otherwise I don’t know how much my grandma and grandpa will tease me.”
Lyra looked at him with an absolutely serious face and for the first time nodded her head, “Ok papa.”
Orion took a deep breath, stood up straight and looked towards the sky, ‘…I’m doomed.’
Lyra grabbed his hand and looked around to see paintings decorated on the walls while maids worked in the hallway. They all turned their heads curiously to see Lyra as their eyes brightened seeing such a cute little girl.
Orion could do nothing but walk forward with her towards the main hall of the mansion, while inwardly talking with Lumi, ‘What do you think Grandpa prepared for me? It seems like I won’t have an easy time.’
Lumi didn’t know if she should tell him that Eldric and Selene were following him since the start, but now she could only bite the bullet and echo with him,
[Yes, I wonder what it could be. It will be fun nonetheless, hehe this will be the first surprise from him that you will see here.]
Orion exhaled a sigh and nodded his head, soon the two of them reached the hall as Orion pushed open the gate, but the scene in front of him made him open his eyes in surprise.
In the hall were sitting some of the closest people to him in this world, Rina, Fiora, Seraph, Nyss, Arya, and his grandparents.
Lyra curiously looked at the group ahead as they all turned to see Orion come in, all of their eyes brightened seeing him but just then, Lyra spoke, “Who are they, papa?”
