Chapter 136: Two miserable girls in scandalous dresses
Leilani.
“Here’s your mango cake!” Maya called out excitedly, whistling loudly as she waltzed into my kitchen holding a box of large freshly baked mango cake. I watched her as she placed it on the kitchen counter before coming to hug me.
My eyes lit up when I saw the cake, smiling when she leaned even closer to ruffle my hair and drawled; “Alpha Jarek told me you needed a mango cake and asked me to bring this to you.”
“Oh.” Of course, he did!
“What do you need one so large for?” She continued softly, whilst eying the cake before moving away to come sit on the stool closest to where I stood slicing some tomatoes.
Because my mood was slightly more pleasant today, I shrugged and said; “It’s for Chalice. She loves mango cakes and I want to give it to her as her wedding gift for tomorrow.”
And as soon as those words escaped my lips, Maya frowned deeply. She snorted. “You want to get Chalice a gift after everything? Do you not realize that she’s getting married to your mates? Your motherfucking mates?!”
I know. I know. But now, who cares about the three stupid mates? This is just me repaying her in her coin! I do not give a shit about the triplets right now!
Pushing these thoughts away, I drawled; “That isn’t the only gift I have for her tomorrow. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.”
“Leilani!”
“What?!”
“This is insane! At this point, I don’t know if you just have a good heart or if you’re just simply naive, because I don’t get it. Why?!”
“Don’t worry, you’ll understand it tomorrow.” I said quietly, and with a smaller voice, I added; “Make sure that my gifts are presented to them after… and only after they’ve said their vows. Okay?”
That made Maya turn to look at me quietly, her brows furrowing as she mused; “Now, that sounds like you have something sinister up your sleeves. Is there some tea to this thing that I do not know about yet?”
I smiled. “Yes, there’s tea; But to enjoy it, you need to witness it happen. So make sure you’re dressed in your sexiest outfit tomorrow and come with popcorn.”
She giggled. “Of course, I will!”
And with that, I returned to cooking, basking in the joy of what I wanted to do next while Maya busied herself with helping me with cooking, her excited chatters filling the kitchen as we made lunch side by side.
—
Later that evening, Maya and I went to pick up dresses at the boutique because after rummaging through our closets for several hours, we finally agreed that we both had nothing jaw-dropping enough to wear to Chalice’s wedding.
We had just walked into a popular high end boutique however when the scent of vanilla hit my nostrils and I snorted, rolling my eyes as I turned to Maya and drawled; “She’s here.”
“Who’s here?”
“Hello sister!” Chalice’s overly sweet voice called out to me from a distance, grating against my eardrum. I looked forward just then to see her sandwiched between her two friends whose faces were scrunched up in distaste when they saw me.
Maya, on the other hand, looked like she wanted to give Chalice her ‘present’ today as she instantly frowned, turned to me and whispered; “Let’s get out of here!”
“Oh, no! Let’s shop!” I answered back with a smile. “This Barbie Dracula over here cannot be the reason l’ll walk out of a boutique as beautiful as this without buying any item.” I said softly, and almost snorted when Chalice’s eyes bulged.
She screamed; “You—”
But before she could finish, I turned away from her to face Maya and hissed; “You shouldn’t be worrying about me right now, sister. You should be worrying about yourself. Tomorrow is your big day, and we don’t know… I might as well share some candy to the guests.”
If she was angry before, then now, whatever she was feeling was way worse than anger.
Her face had turned into a bright shade of red and she was shaking angrily as she glared hard at me. “Leilani, you’re out of line!” She spat.
I rolled my eyes. “And you’ve been out of line for so long, beautiful. Bear with me this time.”
And maybe that had it for her because next thing I know, she snarled in anger and tried to slap my face, but before she could lay a hand on me, I took a step back, grabbed her by her shoulders and twisted her hands so far behind her back that she screamed in pain.
“Arghhhh! Leilani! Stop!”
Her cries sounded like music to my ears. It made me want to hurt her even more, but deciding that bruising her arms could perhaps make her cancel the wedding again— because she would want to look her best— I loosened my grip and drawled into her ear; “You don’t learn, do you?”
“Leilani, let me go!”
“You still think you can beat me, don’t you?” I seethed, ignoring her desperate cry. “Well, I’ll have you know that I have you in the palm of my hands now, and sweet innocent Chalice, I intend to crush you.”
With that, I let go of her and turned to Maya only to find her pinning Chalice’s friends against the wall, their faces red in fury and embarrassment. She let them go when she realized I’ve let Chalice go and flashed me a bright smile.
“I had to stop these ones so they don’t disrupt your little sisters’ get together!” She muttered, gesturing to Chalice and I; And goddess I couldn’t help it at that point, I laughed.
“Do you still want to shop here?” She asked me, ignoring the sales lady standing close to her.
“No.” I snorted then smiled at Chalice who immediately recoiled. “I’ve had my fun here. It’s time to leave.” I said, and with that, walked out of the boutique with Maya who wouldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear.
Her smile made me quite uncomfortable— in the sense that it almost made me want to continue laughing— so I whipped my head around to face her and snapped; “What?”
“Huh?” She replied, frowning in confusion.
“Why are you smiling like that?”
“Oh that?” She giggled. “It’s nothing… it’s just that after what I just witnessed, I now know that you didn’t buy her that cake out of the goodness of your heart.”
“There’s no goodness in my heart.” I snapped back; But Maya only rolled her eyes at me and nodded;
“Yeah right, you don’t! But you always give me everything I ask for without flinching… and you cry whenever you watch some certain movies.”
“You and those movies are entertaining, and that’s the only reason I do that.” I hissed, ignoring the way she laughed from behind me like a maniac.
And do you know what’s even worse?
The fact that she continued to tease me the rest of the day, even after we’ve gotten ourselves the kinds of dresses that were enough to cause a scandal tomorrow.
But apparently, she didn’t care.
All she cared about now was making my life miserable; the same way I planned to do to Chalice but with a different approach.
And goddess, I really couldn’t wait!
