Chapter 263: Kovu.
*~Aurora’s POV~*

The lion growled while it was in front of me. I wanted to reach for the knife, but it was too far away from me. “Calm down, lion. I mean no harm,” I said. The lion growled louder as it started crawling toward me. I immediately got up and started running, and it chased after me.

“Husband, help!” I screamed for Leon to come help me, but he didn’t. Instead, he just remained there, laughing his heart out as the lion chased me.

“It will kill me! Kill it!”

“You are a man!” he said.

But how can I take down a huge-ass lion, literally big enough to tear me apart in just one slice? I managed to get behind a tree, hiding from it, as the lion stood there. Then it started sniffing me out.

“Oh my God! Leon, help!”

The lion caught my voice and then, in one slice, cut the tree. The tree fell, and I immediately fell on my butt. The lion started walking toward me. So here it is—me dying.

Then, that was when Leon finally rushed over to my side, and then, the lion pounced. I immediately closed my eyes, knowing I’m dead already.

Then, there was silence.

Is this heaven? Because absolutely not—absolutely not—is the lion pouncing on me, feeling disgust. When I opened my eyes, it was the lion licking my forehead. I turned over to Leon, who was also wearing the same confused gaze, and he said, “What is this? And what is he doing?”

“It seems you tamed the lion. That’s even more of a man.”

“Tamed?” Then I saw the lion wiggle its tail and hop around, then come back and lick me again. I got up, and the lion immediately approached me again, licked my feet, then my hand.

“What is he doing, husband?”

“You’ve tamed the lion. I’m guessing the lion likes you. This is actually the first time I’m seeing a lion get tamed. Should I scare it off? Or are you still scared?”

“Yes, please.”

Then the man was about to shift when the lion licked me again.

“Wait, wait, wait.” I immediately stretched my hand toward Leon. “I think I like him.”

“What?” He turned to me. “This is a huge lion. Don’t tell me you’re about to keep it as a pet.”

“But he’s so cute. Look at the way he’s looking at me. I guess he likes me.” The lion circled me again, and then Leon tried to touch it, but it growled at him.

“Uh-oh. Looks like my pet does not like you.”

“Pet?”

“Yes, it is my pet from now on, and since I’m going to be living in a place as boring and ugly as this, I’ll need something to cheer me up.” I bent down and rubbed the lion’s body as it purred. “Oh my God, isn’t it so cute?”

“This is a wild animal that can kill you the moment it becomes hungry,” Leon said. “I am married to a wild animal. Of course, I can also keep another wild animal as a pet. But you’re married to a wild animal. You are a wolf. You literally can also eat me when you’re hungry, and I am just a witch—cosplaying as a human—so someday I may appear as a delicious delicacy for you.”

“The only time you appear as a delicious delicacy for me is going to be on the bed, not literally.”

“Well, I see no difference between you and the lion,” I said as I kept rubbing the lion.

“What? There are differences—many differences—between me and this dumb-ass lion.” Leon raised his voice, and the lion roared at him, making him pounce back.

“Well, you see the difference? The lion is not scared of you, and you are terrified of it.”

“Please.” He brought out his claws. “I can cut this lion’s head right this moment, and I will never let you—”

“Leon is mine from now on. You need to respect that.” I stood up. “Where can we put this lion?”

“This is a lion, Aurora.”

“Eric,” I corrected him. “My name is Eric from now on. And what could be more manly than keeping a lion as a pet? So cute. It is nice to be a lioness.”

“It is a lion,” Leon said.

I bent down, checking the lion’s genitals. “So, I am now a man from now on. I did not kill a wild animal; I tamed the wild animal.”

I got up and started walking, and the lion followed me.

“Have you seriously lost your brains? No way this lion is going to be living in my house.”

“Our house,” I corrected him. “Now, let’s get back to building.”

“In the middle of the night? Hell no.” His stomach growled again. Mine did too. And soon, with Kovu’s growl joining ours, I guessed we were still hungry.

“Now I guess we are going to be killing your pet,” Leon said. “Do you want to die of hunger? The goddess literally sent us this lion for us to eat, not for us to keep as a pet.”

“No.” I immediately wrapped my hands around it. “We are not going to be killing—Kovu.”

“Kovu?”

“Yes. That’s his name. I’ve named it. Kovu.”

“How can you be naming our dinner a name?”

“This is not a dinner. This is my pet. And you need to respect that.” I said raising my finger at him.

“Respect my food, Aurora. Aurora, please. We have no time left. We need to sleep. Early to bed, early to rise. We need to continue building tomorrow. And maybe see the Alpha. We need to be on our best feet. Let’s kill this lion, eat it, and sleep happily.”

“How about we kill you instead? I mean your wolf. How does that sound?” I asked putting my hands on my waist.

“Horrible!” His eyes widened.

“Yes. Horrible. We are NOT going to be killing the lion.” I glared at him.

“Oh, damn it! Why are you so hard-headed now?”

“Hard-headed now? Did I used to be hard-headed before?” My voice softened as I glared at him. He also seemed to reduce his voice.

“Oh yes. You used to be very hard-headed. And you’re even more hard-headed now.”

“Well, it’s in the blood,” I said waving my hair as if it were still long.

“Your hair is short, Eric. Get used to it.” He eyed me.

“I know.” I sat down, and my stomach growled again in immense anger. “I’m still hungry. Husband, can we look for something else to eat? Without killing Kovu?” I rubbed the lion’s back as it sat down right next to me.

“Well, yes. But where can we find what to eat? The only thing surrounding us is trees and leaves. Only if we can eat that, then we are good to go.”

“That is it. Trees!” I gasped. “There must be some kind of fruits nearby.” I immediately got up. “Kovu, do you know any place—any tree—that can provide edible fruits for us to eat that will sustain us for the night?”

Leon pinched the bridge of his nose. “Don’t tell me you’re seriously asking that wild animal for help.”

“Well, yes.” I smiled. “He can tell me.”

Then Kovu got up and started rushing toward a direction.

“Wait, Kovu! Come back!”

And then he rushed even farther away from us.

“Guess your pet is gone,” Leon said. “We should have killed him while we still had him. But he ran away.”

“No, he can’t run away. He’s my pet.” I almost started crying.

“Well… sorry.”

But then, in the next moment, Kovu dashed back.

“Look! He’s back!” Leon said.

And Kovu came back holding a papaya in his mouth.

“Look at this! He brought a fruit! He really listened to me. Where did you get this from, Kovu?”

Then he started running away again, and Leon and I chased after him until he led us to a huge tree filled with different papaya fruits.

“Wow. Good boy, Kovu.” I rubbed his hair as he licked me. “He’s a little more useful than you.”

Leon climbed the tree and brought down several papaya fruits, then started cutting them and removing their seeds. Then he divided them and gave me some as we ate in silence. Kovu and I—well, I gave Kovu some too, but he did not eat it.

“Why didn’t Kovu eat the fruits? He is a wild animal. You are probably his next food.”

“Is that true, Kovu? Will you eat me?” I asked. Kovu purred and then licked me.

“See? He won’t eat me.”

“He just literally licked you. He gave you an answer which was ‘no.'”

“Yes, Aurora.”

“Eric,” I corrected him again.

“Please give me back my Aurora,” Leon said, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“Well, Aurora is gone now, and Eric is here.” I stood up, putting my hands on my waist, standing strong like a man—the way men stood in the storybooks Mother used to read to me.

He sighed. “I have never, for once, thought I would be seeing Aurora like this.”

“Okay, so tell me—what kind of person was Aurora?” I said, looking deep into his eyes, while Kovu got up and slept on my lap, and I patted his back.

“Okay, I’m eating right now, and I will tell you later.”

“No. I want it now.” I looked around and gently picked up a stick. Then I threatened him with it. “You’re going to tell me now.”

“By demonstrating it? How?” he asked.

“I mean by acting it out. Anytime Mother wants to tell me a story, she will act it out for me. Now, I want you to act out how Aurora is and tell me how you and Aurora fell in love. I want to listen,” I said, petting Kovu while Leon just held the stick, looking at me confused.
