Chapter 257: Power against power.
*~Leon’s POV~*

The fake Aurora was right. Coming here was a death sentence—no doubt about it. But at least I stopped her wedding. At least Aurora had a chance to escape.

Thousands of demons surrounded me now, beating me down. I couldn’t even move. The only two I’d managed to kill were long dead, and now I was paying the price.

Punches came from everywhere—claws, fangs, laughter. Each hit landed harder than the last. My vision blurred, blood dripping from my mouth as I lifted my gaze toward the altar.

Darius stood there, watching me with an evil smirk—beside him, that demon bastard lord I’d met the other day.

Some of the demons were laughing now, mocking me like it was sport.

I should’ve come with backup. I should’ve brought more wolves. But I was in a hurry—desperate. And yet, even as my bones cracked and my body broke, a dark smile crept across my lips.

At least I stopped the wedding.

If I hadn’t, Aurora would’ve been tied to these monsters forever. I couldn’t believe it was real—but if my life was the price, then fine. I’d pay it.

A demon grabbed me by the neck and lifted me off the ground, slamming me into the wall. Pain seared through me; my whole body screamed. The demon raised his claws, aiming straight for my eyes—

Then suddenly—

A thunderclap loud enough to make everyone pause.

Everything froze. The demons stopped moving. The one holding me dropped me instantly, stumbling backward in shock.

The bright afternoon sky turned dark—so dark it felt like midnight had fallen in seconds. The air grew heavy, thick, and terrifying.

I coughed, blood spilling from my lips. A grin tugged at the corner of my mouth.

Aurora…She must’ve regained her power.

“Who is that?!” Darius roared, spinning toward the staircase.

I turned my head weakly toward him and muttered, “You don’t know who you’re messing with.”

Darius snarled and marched toward me, shoving through the crowd. He backhanded me so hard my head snapped to the side.

“Did you bring anyone here with you?!” he shouted.

I spat blood and lifted my gaze. “No,” I rasped. “But I came here for someone who’s… not as weak as you think.”

Everyone turned to see someone slowly descending the stairs.. Aurora

“Au.. Aurora?”Darius stuttered, as his throat bubbled.

“You think?” I smirked.

“Catch her!.” He yelled. “Take her back to her room!”

A dozen demons lunged toward her but she kept her calm demeanor,

She raised one hand… and snapped her fingers.

All of them collapsed instantly. Blood poured from their noses, their eyes rolling back.

My breath caught…Did she just fry their brains with a single snap?

I let out a rough, pained chuckle.

“Say your last prayers,” I muttered towards Darius.

It seemed my words didn’t sit right with him. Darius grabbed my head roughly, forcing me to look up at him.

“You say yours first,” he growled.

He was about to kill me when, suddenly, I felt his grip vanish—and my body slammed against the wall with a violent force.

I turned, dazed, to see Aurora.

She was controlling me—commanding my body with her power. My feet dangled above the ground, my back crushed against the stone wall. Darius froze, eyes wide.

“Aurora, what are you doing?” he barked. “You should be getting married to me! And why is your body covered in those… Isah Iskander veins?”

She didn’t respond. Her eyes were black and hollow as she kept walking forward, every step heavy with fury.

Several demons charged at her—she only waved her hand.

All of them collapsed instantly, their bodies hitting the floor with sickening thuds.

“She’s not Aurora,” one of them gasped. “The dark magic… it’s taken over her!”

“Rebecca!” Darius shouted. “Summon the Furious Five and take her down—now!”

I didn’t even know who Rebecca was—until I saw her. A white-skinned demon swooped down from the upper floor, five others following behind her like shadows.

They launched themselves at Aurora. Two managed to grab her arms, pinning her down, while the female demon held her by the neck, trying to stab her with an odd, glowing blade.

But before the strike landed, Aurora only exhaled—a low, guttural growl.

In a single pulse of energy, all six demons were flung backward, slamming into the walls. Their skulls cracked against stone, blood spilling down the floor.

“How did she do that… so effortlessly?” I whispered, horrified.

George finally moved. He lunged at her, lightning sparking from his hands. Aurora responded in kind— as she also released lightning.

Power against power.

But Aurora was overpowering him. Her energy tore through his lightning, striking him square in the chest. He was flung across the hall, his body crashing into the wall with a thunderous crack.

That was when I noticed it—blood dripping from Aurora’s nose.

She couldn’t hold out much longer.

Then, without warning, she turned and ran.

I fell to my knees, exhausted, but forced myself up and stumbled after her. Darius and the others were too stunned to move—terrified by what they’d just witnessed.

“Aurora!” I called out, chasing her through the corridors.

She didn’t respond. The dark veins across her skin began to fade as she ran, her power burning out, her body slowly returning to normal.

“Aurora, where are you going?” I shouted. “I’m here for you!”

Nothing. She didn’t even glance back.

“Aurora! That’s not the way home—I know the way home!”

“Leave me, Leon!” she shouted suddenly, her voice breaking.

I froze. “Did you just…did you just speak to me?”

“I can’t,” she said. “I don’t need saving. I just need to get away from all of this.”

“Aurora, you can’t go!” I yelled. “They’ll catch you. You can’t just run! Your powers will burn out again, you won’t be able to defend yourself! They’ll hurt you..”

“Stay away from me, Leon!” She cried out loud.

Then I blinked and. “What…?” I spun around, scanning the Trees. “Aurora!”

“Damn it,” I muttered under my breath, my fists clenching. “I can’t lose her again.”

“FIND HER!” then i heard some demons voice behind me.
