Chapter 238: Damn it.
*~Leon’s POV~*

Earlier that day…

I stood in the room with Christian. Everything was falling apart.

Hazel, Cayden, Caspian—everyone had lost it. Cyrius was on his way back from France after hearing that Aurora and Heather had been taken, but he wasn’t here yet.

Then the high house door burst open.

Cyrius stormed inside, his coat whipping behind him like a shadow. Hazel immediately ran to him, collapsing into his arms and burying her face in his chest and he hugged her back.

“She’s gone!” she cried. “Heather is gone! Aurora is gone!”

Cyrius jaw tightened. “How did this happen?” He turned toward his brothers, his voice shaking with fury. The others just stood there, arms folded, faces blank, confusion etched into every line.

“Apparently…” Hazel’s voice cracked. “After Aurora found a wizard..Darius— she trusted him so much… she said she wanted to train him. And now he’s taken her—and my baby! .. Leon tried to stop him but he failed.”

Cyrius turned his burning stare toward me. “You were there?”

“I was,” I said quietly.

“And you couldn’t protect her?!” he snapped. “You, a Beta of this pack—you stood there while someone came in and took them? You let it happen?”

“I tried,” I said, my voice trembling. “Aurora—she stopped me. She used her powers to pin me to the wall.”

“You should be blamed,” he cut in. “And punished.”

“No,” Caspian interjected firmly. “It’s not his fault. It completely we the Alpha’s fault.”

Cyrius turned sharply. “What?”

Caspian continued, “He was suspicious from the very beginning. His instincts told him that Darius wasn’t normal—that he was a demon. He even told Aurora himself, but none of us believed him. We were too damn stubborn to listen. So, no—it’s not his fault.”

Cyrius clenched his jaw, still unconvinced. “We need to find Heather. Now.”

“And Aurora,” I said quickly.

He glared at me again. “You were responsible for Aurora. You saw her being taken, and you couldn’t stop it. You’re the one who’ll find her—and the baby.”

Before I could respond, the door opened again. Alice and Lilith walked in, carrying a glowing map spread between their hands.

“We’ve managed to trace both Aurora’s blood and Heather’s,” Alice said. “They’re somewhere in this location.” She pointed to the northern edge of the map.

“Then we head north,” Cayden ordered immediately.

“Wait,” I said, stepping forward. “Maybe we should ask Christian. He’s her twin—he might know where she is. Twins share a divine connection. He could lead us to her.”

The others barely even looked at me.

“You’re not listening,” Cyrius muttered. “Lilith and Alice already found the route, but maybe we shouldn’t stress him—he’s just a baby.”

No one answered. They’d already decided to move north, toward another country entirely. By nightfall, the group was preparing to leave—but something in me couldn’t rest.

That night, I quietly slipped into Christian’s room. He was awake, sitting in his basket, the moonlight brushing over his pale face.

I knelt beside him. “Hey, little boy,” I whispered softly. “You miss your sister, don’t you?”

He stared up at me, those bright hazel eyes unblinking.

“You know where she is, don’t you?” I said. “She must be in danger. You can help us—help me. Take my hand.”

He just kept staring, silent and expressionless.

“Right,” I muttered. “You’re just a baby. I can’t expect a miracle.”

I started to pull my hand away, but then, he grabbed it.

His tiny fingers wrapped tightly around mine.

Everything started to blur. The world around me tilted and twisted as my head spun, my vision trembling like broken glass. I couldn’t tell up from down anymore; everything was moving too fast, like the air itself had become liquid.

Then, suddenly—I was falling.

The cold night wind screamed past my ears as my body plunged downward. I didn’t even have time to react before my instincts kicked in. My hands shot out and caught something solid—an iron window frame. My fingers burned as I clung to it, my hair whipping wildly across my face, blocking my vision.

For a moment, I couldn’t see anything. My heart thundered, my pulse roaring in my ears. Then, with a creak, the window opened from the inside—and I saw her.

Aurora.

Her red hair glowed faintly in the dim light, her eyes wide with shock

“Leon?” she whispered.

We both froze.

And then she reached for me, pulling me through the window with surprising strength. I stumbled forward and fell to my knees beside her, gasping for air.

Then my eyes landed on the basket.

Heather was there, lying peacefully—and beside her was Christian, smiling up at me like he had accomplished something great.

He really did it. He brought me here.

I barely had time to take it in before the temperature in the room dropped.

A door creaked open, and a shadow slithered across the floor.

A mysterious figure stepped in… Looking like what Aurora described to be a demon… White hair and blue eyes. Except this one is not gorgeous but scary.

Aurora stood her ground, after talking for a whole. The demon grinned, his long claws glinting in the candlelight.

And then he lunged.

He attacked her.

Without thinking, I rushed from my hiding spot and slammed into him with all the force I could muster. The impact shook the walls. He staggered, surprised—but then his grin widened, and I felt it. A sharp crackling pain shot through my neck.

Everything froze.

My body collapsed to the floor, my breath caught halfway in my throat. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe.

Aurora screamed my name. “Leon!”

I fought it. Gods, I fought it. I couldn’t give up—not now. Not when she needed me. Not when the twins were here.

I tried to lift my head, to see if they were safe—but the basket was empty.

My heart dropped… The twins are gone

Aurora was still screaming, her voice raw with fear, as the demon approached her again. He grabbed a fistful of her hair and yanked her back.

“Aurora…” I whispered weakly, my voice breaking.

I couldn’t even stand. My limbs felt like lead. My vision was fading to black.

Once again, I was failing her. Once again, I was useless. Once again, I couldn’t protect the woman I—

The door burst open.

A powerful presence flooded the room, sharp and dark and familiar. I looked up weakly, praying to see Hazel—or maybe one of the triplet brothers.

But it wasn’t them.

It was Darius.

“What are you doing, George?” he barked, his voice echoing like a whip through the room.

The demon turned, startled. His face twisted into a sneer. “Ugh… I forgot,” George said mockingly, “you’re in love with this red-headed witch, aren’t you? She laid her filthy hands on me, and now I want my revenge.”

“Get off her,” Darius growled.

George smirked. “Make me.”

In a blur, Darius struck him. The impact sent the demon lord crashing backward into the wall.

My heart burned. The sight of him touching her made something inside me snap.

“Leave her!” I roared, forcing myself up from the floor.

Darius’s eyes snapped toward me—cold, glowing, filled with hatred.

He released Aurora slowly and began walking toward me, his boots echoing against the cracked floor.

“Still alive?” he muttered, voice sharp as a blade.

I tried to move, but my legs gave out again.

He reached me, standing over me like a shadow blotting out the light. Then, without a word, he raised his foot and brought it down on my head.

Then everything went blank
