Chapter 292: The Relay Race Against ‘Destiny’! Part-4.
Sea of Endless Miasma. Relay Race Log 72.
A civilization of dwarfs reached for the stars but accidentally caused changes in the barrier protecting the planet.
Due to their civilization’s focus on technology and extreme mana scarcity on the planet, there were no strong enough people present to sense the ‘Truth’ of their world.
The barrier shattered, and the majestic civilization was overrun by despair and misery.
…
Sea of Endless Miasma. Relay Race Log 93.
A civilization of Elves could not create technology but regressed into worshipping the sea of miasma, as there were too many strong people and none had any hope for a future.
A hopeless world where living in despair and suffering was the norm.
One group could no longer endure the suffering, succumbed to the whispers of the demon gods, and willingly broke the barrier that had been protecting them.
The entire planet was saved; there was no destruction, and the planet was not shattered by miasma.
Instead, all creatures on the planet were eternally enslaved and turned into abominable, disfigured beings only able to wail and feel pain with every movement and action.
…
Sea of Endless Miasma. Relay Race Log 387.
A race of giants wages wars on each other for several millenniums, rules above other species as overlords, and brings immense pain and bloodshed to the world.
Technology or mana research never progressed; no one knew the ‘truth’ of the world; everyone fought like barbarians and relied on hard power.
A human mage appeared, and with deep hatred for the giants in his heart, who had killed his loved ones, he willingly destabilized the world protection barrier and invited miasma into the world.
The planet was shattered, and each organism was turned into a massive planet-sized blob of organs and mass, only capable of producing demons in batches using miasma.
The broken fragments of their planet were forcefully embedded in them to constantly remind them of their home’s failure.
They are still suffering this endless torture to this day, facing a destroyed and hopeless end with no salvation in sight.
…
Sea of Endless Miasma, Relay Race Log 782.
A primitive world filled with primitive beasts and animals.
Mana evolved them overtime but they could not create any proper civilization and could only form small tribes at most.
One of the tribes came upon the golden nail and accidentally caused it to shatter.
A massive miasmic rift that was sealed inside the golden nail opened and continuously poured tremendous amounts of miasma into the barrier.
Over several millennia, the world kept getting corrupted from inside and outside, all the golden nails shattered from corruption, and the world barrier collapsed.
All the creatures on the planet were turned into horrible monstrosities even before the shattering of the barrier due to the miasma already on the planet.
There was no hope for the planet from the beginning, as there was no intelligent race present to even consider the emotion called ‘hope.’
…
…
The list kept going on and on.
With each new memory log, Jareth was forced to watch hundreds of worlds shatter and die.
He was forced to watch the pain and the suffering of millions of creatures; he was forced to watch the endless carnage of the sea of miasma.
He was forced to watch and learn the truth that, just like this planet.
There were actually many other planets trapped inside the sea of miasma, and each of them was protected by a world barrier.
The truth was beyond his comprehension, but he could finally understand that the reason why the ‘King’ Allen Von Reinhart couldn’t save this planet was likely that this one planet was not the only one that needed saving.
There were thousands of them; there were many of them present in the sea of miasma, with each of them suffering tremendously.
The Golden King, Allen Von Reinhart, created that powerful barrier on all these planets all by himself before the Sea of Endless Miasma could take hold of them.
They were then engulfed by the Sea of Endless Miasma.
Massive amounts of information poured into Jareth’s mind as he learned that the ‘Sea of Endless Miasma’ is a semi-conscious existence that constantly keeps expanding and expanding with no end in sight.
One planet that might be safe today might end up in its claws the next day.
There is no place in this universe the ‘Sea of Endless Miasma’ can not reach, only that it hasn’t reached there yet and will need more time.
Nearly 1 tenth of the entire universe is already covered by the ‘Sea of Endless Miasma,’ and it’s expanding at a very rapid rate every single passing second.
No one knows where it’s getting so much miasma, no one knows where it originated from, and no one knows what happened to the ‘King’ who tried to stop its expansion.
There was only one clear message, and that was that there was no real escape from the ‘Sea of Endless Miasma.’
Even if you go to the other corner of the universe to live, at most you can only pass your time peacefully; once the time comes, the entire universe might be overrun by miasma, and there will be nowhere to escape anymore.
Before Jareth could think further, more and more information poured into his head.
The coordinates of all the destroyed planets rushed into his head like a massive series of code words transmitting directly into his head.
He finally understood what these ‘Relay Race Logs’ were referring to.
This ‘Unknown Fragment’ that had entered his body had somehow managed to carry the will of the destroyed races and planets along with their ‘Hopes’ for a better future.
This ‘Unknown Fragment’ carried the ‘Hope’ of thousands of races in it; it has recorded the birth, the progression, and the death of many glorious and primitive civilizations.
It was a record keeper and was safely storing the ‘hope’ of each civilization so that it could pass it on to the next one.
The more civilizations died, the more records appeared, and once someone could find this ‘Fragment,’ they would get all the knowledge and coordinates of thousands of races combined.
This way, not only will they be able to know that these ‘Races’ once existed, but they might be able to use these coordinates to make a way out of the ‘Sea of Endless Miasma.’
This ‘Fragment’ was like a torch of ‘Hope,’ and each race was passing it to the other in this endless ‘Relay Race’ that was going against ‘Destiny’ itself!
Jareth finally figured out why he felt that a big change was going to happen once he came in contact with the ‘Spirit Realm Node Detection Device.’
With all these coordinates in his mind, Jareth can create a new and more accurate map of the ‘Sea of Endless Miasma,’ and then he can use the ‘Spirit Realm’ coordinate equivalents of the real-world coordinates to bypass the sea of miasma and escape outside!
For every place in the real world, there is a spirit realm equivalent, and the coordinates of both places can be calculated if you know one of them.
Once a fortunate person manages to escape, the ‘Relay Race’ that’s trying to go against the inevitable destiny of destruction due to the ‘Sea of Miasma’ will reach the finish line and succeed.
The hope, the technology, and the proof that all these civilizations once existed in the world will make it out of this hellhole, and all of their hopes will come true.
Jareth finally figured out the real motive of this logbook of history.
‘But why create such a massive record… almost as if this ‘Fragment’ knew that someone in the future would come and he might need these coordinates to open a portal to the outer world!’
Jareth could not help but feel a sense of shock.
“It’s all been planned from the very beginning!”
