Chapter 277: The Bizarre Wyvern Tribe. Part-1.
“Isn’t this large cemetery located right beside the forest of hatred? Did you not come here to visit in the past?”
“How long have you even been here for in the first place?”
*I don’t know… I was here when I opened my eyes. I don’t remember how much time has passed; after all, it’s impossible to tell day and night inside that forest…*
*The thought of leaving the forest never occurred to me… it never even came to my mind… I wouldn’t have left if not for you capturing me like this…*
“Why so? Isn’t it hard for sentient being to live in such a lonely place where only mindless beings wander…”
*It’s not that I didn’t want to leave… I just couldn’t…*
Jareth narrowed his eyes at those words.
“The miasma in your body is a ‘shackle’ keeping you confined to one place? You only managed to leave because I captured you in a special artifact and isolated you with my powerful mana…”
“Why have you been shackled like this? What crime did you commit?”
*You are very sharp… just from my words, you figured out most of what I was about to say… yeah, I am shackled to this place…*
*You barely managed to move me from the forest of hatred, but you can’t bring me out of the ‘wailing hills’; my soul will shatter if you brought me out of here…*
*I am cursed to stay and watch this place for eternity… my crime… my crime was being a ‘coward’…*
Jareth found it very interesting that Rororon was so full of information and mysteries.
“Being ‘Coward’ is only considered a crime in very few types of species and races across the world… for example, Dragons, orcs etc…”
“Dragon perhaps do not exist in this world anymore… So, were you an orc warrior or what? Your body did resemble a goblin, though…”
Jareth was confused and asked,
“Isn’t it natural for a goblin to be cowardly and shrewd? that’s their basic nature…”
*I am not a goblin! Do not compare me with that pathetic race!!*
*I am different… at least I used to be something ‘special,’ but I do not know anymore…*
The little fellow went silent and stopped talking as if he was feeling deep sadness and had no intent to talk anymore.
Jareth could only shake his head in helplessness at that and keep moving.
*BOOOOM!!* *BOOOM!!*
After several hours of continuous struggle and hard work, Jareth finally managed to make his way through the entire dark graveyard area.
‘Here it is…’
After making it through that massive graveyard full of giant skeletons everywhere, Jareth reached a massive valley.
Many skeletons that were still attacking Jareth collided with him and lost balance before falling down into the deep dark valley.
Jareth glanced to the front, and hundreds of small and big pointed giant peaks were stretched far and wide.
He was standing on a plateau, and there were hundreds of massive mountains located in front of it.
The valley in between them all was so deep that Jareth couldn’t see the bottom of it all, as dark miasmic clouds were blocking his sight.
Fast and strong winds were raging in the area, and those giant mountains were shaped in such a way as if they were artificially arranged by someone there.
The area resembled a trap of iron needles in a dungeon.
In dungeons, when you take a wrong step and fall for such traps, your foot ends up stabbed by many sharp iron needles arranged in the same place.
‘This trap is on a much larger scale though…’
The strong winds and powerful miasmic currents were not the main troublesome things in the area; the main sources of the problem were those flying beings wandering around the mountain peaks.
Jareth could feel their powerful aura from far away.
There were hundreds of large flying beasts swirling around among the mountains.
‘So, these are the corrupted wyverns that seemed to be on the ‘False Dome Cult’s’ target list?…’
Reaching the miracle city of Levina is Jareth’s personal goal and mission; the official mission that was handed over to him was to investigate the situation of these wyverns.
‘It was said that the false dome cult members were trying to control them? But I don’t sense the presence of any cult members in this place…’
Jareth’s mana detection was working at full capacity, and he could scan nearby areas, but he couldn’t notice the presence of any cult members nearby.
‘Perhaps I might have to go closer to investigate after all…’
He also didn’t want the false dome cult to have the opportunity to control the corrupted wyverns, and thus he had no other choice but to properly investigate the matter.
If these corrupted wyverns fall into the hands of the false dome cult, everything will become chaotic.
The False Dome cult already has a lot of powerful individuals working in it, and their leader seems to be a powerful grade-1 mage too.
Every corrupted wyvern is equal to a pseudo grade-1 being and has very strong combat capabilities.
It will take one or two grade 2 mages and a squadron of grade 2 knights to even deal with one, let alone so many.
A grade-1 mage like Reynald might be able to deal with all of these powerful wyverns all at once, but even he’s just one person after all.
He can’t be everywhere at the same time, and the false dome cult is very good at infiltration.
They might sneak in places that Reynald and Jareth can’t reach fast enough. This way they can slowly destroy the nation one city after another.
Just like the city of Artavia, they might cause a massive level of destruction.
[Basic Magic: Float!]
Jareth had been saving this spell up until now because he was afraid of the miasma adapting to it, but he had no other choice left now.
He had to fly to cross such vast distances, as there’s no foothold to jump or run here anymore.
The narrow, broken road beneath his foot ends here; he has to make his way on his own from this point forward.
Jareth flew into the air, and several giant skeletons that were chasing him fell straight down into the deep valley.
Their massive bodies pierced the dark miasmic clouds below and disappeared from sight.
Jareth doesn’t know what down there in the valley, so he doesn’t know whether those skeletons will smash into the ground or will fall into some stream of miasma-filled water.
In the game, if you fall down from here, your character will die after touching the miasmic clouds below, and you will respawn back into the city of Asoport.
The true bottom of this valley was an out-of-bounds area in the game; the character could not go there.
Currently Jareth is in a real world and is capable of going down to find out the truth and satisfy his own curiosity, but he has no interest in doing so.
His time in this place is already very limited and precious; moreover, now that he’s already using the float magic, he has lost another one of his trump cards.
It’s better to finish his work in the area as fast as possible before miasma adapts to all of his spells and he has nothing left to retaliate with.
With determination flashing in his eyes, Jareth flew towards a nearby mountaintop.
