Chapter 415: Alchemist’s Shop [II]
The dwarf came down from the high chair at the side of her table, hopping off with a little jump.

Up close, she truly was the size of a ten-year-old child… short enough that Esme had to angle her gaze downward to meet her eyes.

Yet despite her height, the dwarf’s presence radiated excitement and energy like a bright flame ready to burst.

“My lady, it’s been a dream of mine to meet you.” Rosalia declared without hesitation.

Her voice was sweet, high, and overly enthusiastic, almost making Esme reel back in confusion.

Why would someone dream of meeting her?

Esme blinked.

‘Sure, I’m a good alchemist but… there are far better people.’ It didn’t make sense in her mind. She was just doing what she loved.

“Well, nice to meet you uhm…” Esme started awkwardly.

“Rosalia. My name is Rosalia.” The dwarf puffed out her chest proudly, even though that only lifted her height by a few centimeters.

“Yes, nice to meet you, Rosalia…” Esme looked at her closely. “I’m very sure I’ve seen you before though.”

Rosalia’s eyes sparkled instantly.

“Ah, I was in the front crowd during your public reveal of the Heart Cleansing Potion last year.” Her cheeks glowed red as she clapped her hands together. “I always wanted to meet you in person… Oh! And the Sword Saint’s son too? Are you two a couple?”

“N-no…” Esme said quickly, waving her hands.

“Yes.” Azel replied immediately.

Both Rosalia and Esme snapped their heads toward him.

“We’ve been seeing each other for a while now.” Azel added smoothly, as if it were the most normal lie in the world.

‘Huh?’ Esme’s mind froze. Her soul left her body and she stared at him blankly.

Rosalia, meanwhile, perked up with the excitement of a fan who just discovered her favorite main characters were secretly dating.

“Oh? I wasn’t even aware.” She beamed at them. “I can give you a big discount if you buy anything.”

“Thank you…” Azel nodded politely.

Behind his calm smile, he had another thought. ‘I’ll need to get a teacher for Alchemy as well… I need Lillia prepared for anything.’

Esme’s face went completely red. Her ears burned. She couldn’t even look at him without wanting to hide behind a shelf.

Rosalia clasped her hands.

“Is there any specific item that you’re looking for in my shop?”

Her eagerness was overflowing… she genuinely wanted to impress Esme.

“No, we just wanted to browse through.” Esme said, trying to keep her voice steady.

Rosalia nodded happily and returned to her high seat behind the counter, flipping open a thick guidebook… the very same guidebook Esme had written about Elixir fundamentals.

“If you need anything, Lady Esme,” Rosalia said, eyes glued to the pages, “please don’t hesitate to call for me.”

Esme glanced at Azel with narrowed eyes and whispered. “Why did you lie…?”

“Sorry, I’m trying to get a great deal on materials.” Azel rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish chuckle. “I guess I should have asked first.”

“Whatever.” She puffed her cheeks in irritation, grabbed his wrist, and dragged him deeper into the rows of shelves. “There are many kinds of materials used when you’re making potions, elixirs, or even pills… you have to use everything in a perfect order or it can go boom in your face. You would know this if you were in Alchemy class.”

“Hey, you shouldn’t jab me for that.” Azel said defensively.

They stopped in front of a neatly arranged shelf, and Esme plucked a vial off it. Inside were tiny salt-like grains. “I wasn’t that interested in Alchemy until lately.”

“Hm?” Esme raised a brow. “Bring your head down…”

“Huh?”

“Just bring your head down.”

Azel sighed but leaned toward her.

Esme poured a pinch of the white grains over his hair and the effect was instant. His soft silver hair exploded outward into a massive puff.

It stood up like an angry cloud, losing its curliness entirely. The transformation was so dramatic that even Rosalia poked her head up from behind the counter in shock.

Azel touched his hair slowly, horrified. “What did you do to my beautiful hair…?”

Esme burst into laughter, unable to contain herself. Then she faltered. He still looked handsome. Even with hair that resembled an overgrown cotton bush.

‘Huh…?’ Her heart skipped as she found herself staring at him. She quickly shook her head and turned pink.

“This vial has an ingredient known as Inflating Salts,” she explained, trying to sound composed. “It’s usually used in pill crafting to increase the pill’s internal structure, making it expand properly during the binding stage.”

“Well how does my hair go down now?” Azel asked, still poking at the giant puff with visible distress.

She put away the inflating salts and brought out a vial filled with black grains. “These are deflating salts.”

He lowered his head without complaint this time.

She sprinkled the black grains through his hair and watched it deflate rapidly, reshaping itself. It didn’t return to its perfect smoothness, but it looked far more normal than before.

She chuckled.

Azel narrowed his eyes playfully, snatched the Inflating Salts off the shelf, opened the vial, and shook the grains over her head.

Her hair puffed up instantly into a huge fluffy mess.

“Meanie… look at what you did.” She tugged at her hair, but every attempt only made it bigger.

She looked like she had just stuck her head into a furnace.

Azel picked up the deflating salts and sprinkled them gently over her hair, watching it shrink back to its usual bouncy curls.

They both laughed loudly.

‘I don’t think it was a bad idea now…’ Esme thought. She loved showing off in alchemy, and seeing Azel this eager and involved made her oddly happy.

She didn’t see anything wrong with spending more time like this.

“Come, let’s see more ingredients and uhm… let me… uhm… make a pill for you.” She said after clearing her throat. Then she turned to Rosalia. “Rosalia, can I borrow your crafting—”

“Yes, my lady!” Rosalia practically leapt from her chair. “You can use ANYTHING you want. My store is your store!”

Azel blinked. Then he turned to Esme. “What kind of pills are we going to be making?”

Esme stopped at another counter, took two glowing items from it, and turned to him slowly while sticking out her tongue mischievously.

“It’s a surprise.”
