Chapter 403: Date With Sybil [I]
He patted her head, and Sybil instantly pushed away, cheeks heating up as if she’d just been caught doing something indecent.
“The restaurant is… down there,” she muttered, pointing toward a tall, elegant building lit with lanterns and banners.
Then she extended her hand to him with a shy but excited smile. “Shall we?”
“We shall.” Azel took her hand, his wings folding away as they descended gently toward the city’s restaurant.
…
They landed in front of the restaurant… an extravagant three-story building made of polished crystalwood with its windows glowing amber.
Sybil looked perfect for the setting, wearing her luxurious gown that hugged her figure in that effortless noble way.
Azel, however, was in a track-suit with the Astra insignia burned into the chest.
He looked like he had just finished morning training which wasn’t exactly wrong since he had just wiped the ground with Sylus but He wasn’t sure he matched the vibe.
“Should I go get the suit…?” he asked Sybil quietly, worried he would embarrass her.
Sybil burst into loud laughter, grabbing his hand and tugging him toward the door before he could even turn around. “Azel, shut up and get inside.”
The moment they stepped in, the whole place froze.
Conversations died mid-sentence, Forks stopped halfway to mouths and the workers stiffened. The customers were even more surprised.
Because the Sword Saint’s son had walked in.
And because the girl holding his hand… green-haired, loud, chaotic Sybil was the Astra clan’s last daughter.
A ripple of whispers followed them instantly, but Sybil refused to let any of it bother her.
She guided him like she owned the place, extending a chair for him with a smug smile on her lips.
“Well, thank you,” Azel said, amused as he sat. “But… am I not the one who’s supposed to be holding the chair for you?”
“Who cares about that?” Sybil plopped down opposite him, waving a hand. “Chivalry is overrated. Sit down and eat.”
A waitress approached immediately… trembling, blushing, and sweating like she was terrified of breathing wrong.
She handed them menus with shaking hands.
Sybil opened hers, skimmed two pages, then flipped it aggressively. ‘I swear Big Sister said they still had this,’ she thought as her eyes darted all over the menu.
Azel watched her scan the menu with determination usually reserved for finding trouble.
Finally… her eyes sparkled.
‘Found it.’
The couple’s section.
‘I almost thought they took this shit out,’ she thought in relief.
“I would like this and this and this… Oh and this too… it’s a couple’s meal so it’s enough for both of us,” Sybil declared with zero hesitation.
The waitress turned to Azel like a frightened animal. He nodded gently. She almost fainted from relief and scurried away.
Azel sighed lightly. “There are couple’s meals?”
Sybil proudly twisted the menu around for him to see. “For sure. It’s a tradition for lovers to share dessert here… look at the ice cream.”
Azel blinked.
The dessert was a massive crystal cup filled to the brim with swirling frost-ice and cream, topped with a single straw.
“One straw?” he asked. “We’re… sharing?”
“Yes,” Sybil replied with a mischievous glint.
She lifted her hand to her mouth, breathing in and out, checking her breath like she was preparing for war. “Ooh, smells like mint~”
Azel tried not to laugh and cleared his throat. “Well… a date is for us to get to know each other, so why don’t we start with that?”
Sybil leaned back dramatically. “Okay. I’m Sybil as you know, I have an annoying family, I hate and love them all equally, except my two big sisters and their husbands… they’re all bastards obsessed with breasts. I can’t with them. And Big Brother Sylus really needs a girlfriend. Man’s pushing thirty and still reading smut novels under a lamp.”
She paused, glanced at him, then squinted suspiciously.
“You know everything else about me, right? Like how horny I am or—”
“That’s not how you start introductions,” Azel interrupted with a helpless laugh. “But… you’re technically not wrong.”
Sybil leaned forward with her elbows on the table and her green eyes shining. “Okay, Mister Husband-Candidate. Your turn. Tell me more about yourself. You married Veyra. You have other women at home. She said I’ll have to compete for your attention since it’s turn-by-turn… and honestly I don’t mind, but explain.”
Azel blinked. “She told you that?”
“Of course. And she said if I get pregnant fast I get a head start.”
Azel choked on air.
Sybil dragged her finger along the table. “I don’t mind competition. I just don’t want to get neglected. So… explain the family situation, okay?”
Azel exhaled. “Alright. Veyra was correct. I have four women at home. I also already have a daughter. And another daughter that’s a year old. And… my second wife is currently pregnant.”
Sybil froze.
Her face slowly turned pink.
‘He… he’s so virile in bed,’ she thought, staring at him like he was a mythical creature. He was just giving women children left and right. Did that mean that if they did it… she should expect a baby?
‘I kinda want that… If I give him a child, my position is secured.’ she nodded to herself.
Before she could spiral further, the waitress returned with a tray filled with couple items… two plates of seasoned meat, a shared dish of roasted vegetables, some dipping sauces… but Sybil grabbed the huge ice cream immediately.
Without hesitation she stuck the straw in and began drinking like she was siphoning fuel from a tank.
The cream disappeared at alarming speed. By the halfway point, she released the straw and clutched her head.
“Brain freeze~” she whispered with a trembling smile as her legs kicked under the table.
Azel sighed, leaning forward. “You didn’t have to inhale it—”
“It was good,” she said proudly, still clutching her skull.
He watched her with amusement as the waitress fled again, probably to hide from embarrassment.
Sybil shook off the freeze and took a deep breath, resting her chin on her palms. “So… Azel. If we’re going to get married, what would you want in the future? More kids? A small house? A giant mansion? A farm? A dragon pet? You look like someone who would love a dragon pet.”
“I’m… still working on not dying and performing my duties as the Hero even though the Saintess hasn’t announced it yet,” Azel replied honestly. “But yeah. I want a peaceful family someday. I want my daughters to grow up safe. And I want my wives to not get caught in danger because of me.”
