Chapter 401: Older Brother’s Test [II]
Sylus opened his eyes as he stepped out of the cracked wall, dust falling down his shoulder as he rolled his neck and stretched his spine back into place.

He breathed out slowly, letting the sting of Azel’s earlier blow settle into something that felt more like excitement than pain.

The grin that formed on his face looked like a man who had just tasted a rare wine.

“You really caught me off-guard,” he said, and for a moment he looked almost impressed with himself for admitting it because even though he told Sybil he wouldn’t hold back, he had subconsciously listened to his sisters’ pleas and went soft during the first clash.

He dusted off the hem of his tracksuit with a casual flick, but there was a definite sparkle in his eyes… one that only appeared when he found someone worth fighting seriously.

“I picked hand-to-hand because you’re extremely experienced with the sword,” he continued while lifting his hand, letting threads of wind gather around his fingers like dancing ribbons.

“But it seems like you understand the concepts of close-combat pretty damn well too, so I guess I underestimated you.”

Sylus drifted upward as wind coiled around his legs like miniature tornadoes, lifting him into the air with a sense of effortless mastery.

The spirals grew tighter, denser, until it felt like the entire arena was being pulled toward him as the air vibrated with the pressure of his mana.

“This is called Windflow,” he said with pride, as if lecturing a junior clan member. “It’s a technique passed down since the beginning of the Astra line.”

Azel listened with mild interest, but his expression made it clear that he didn’t actually need this explanation.

‘All this time he’s using to talk about the technique…’ Azel thought while stretching his wrist. ‘He could have attacked me already.’

Sylus didn’t notice the thought; he was too busy enjoying his own speech.

“Windflow allows me to synchronize the wind in my mana circles with the wind in the environment,” he said, and his voice deepened as the technique manifested fully. “Meaning I can exceed my normal rank and do things far above my current level.”

Wind cracked beneath his feet and Azel finally felt that oppressive pressure settle over the arena.

He vanished.

The floor shattered where he had been standing and before Azel even fully shifted his stance, Sylus appeared overhead like a falling blade. He was faster than the first time…

The downward kick came with enough wind to bend trees, and Azel blocked it, but that was precisely the opening Sylus wanted.

The Windflow surged through the contact point like a living thing, wrapping around Azel’s arm and hurling him sideways in a violent spinning arc.

Sylus grinned as Azel rotated rapidly through the air.

“Did I forget to say the windflow transfers to the attacked as well?” he said smugly, before lunging forward with another strike that connected squarely with Azel’s ribs.

The blow itself wasn’t devastating, but the added Windflow amplification launched Azel into the air like a ragdoll caught in a hurricane.

‘Damn, what a troublesome ability,’ Azel thought, unable to stabilize his spinning body until he let his aura burst outward like a wave.

The first point released inside him, doubling his aura output instantly, and suddenly the world slowed enough for him to maneuver.

He bent one leg, gathered aura beneath his foot, and stomped.

A platform of dense aura formed under him for a split second… enough to counter his momentum and Azel shot back toward the ground in a reversed trajectory.

Sylus blinked. “You bounced off the air?”

“It’s not as hard as everyone makes it out to be,” Azel replied as he landed with poise. “You just need to stop yourself completely and then use your aura to move forward.”

‘I just used my aura to create a platform, but they don’t need to know that.’

Sylus only laughed louder, his excitement was practically overflowing.

“Every time you seem to surprise me even more!” he shouted before firing off several concentrated blasts of wind at Azel.

Each shot screamed through the air like a bullet, creating shockwaves in their wake. “Even if you lose, you have my respect and my sister!”

Azel dodged the first two blasts with a calm tilt of his body, flipped out of the way of another, but the next one clipped his shoulder and Windflow surged to push him backward.

Azel countered with a burst of aura that cracked the pressure apart like a weak shell.

Sylus’s eyes widened as he fired more blasts… each one faster and sharper as he sprinted forward to follow the barrage.

He threw a punch at Azel, packed with Third Windflow, intending to trap him in rotational backlash again.

However, Azel caught Sylus’s fist mid-air, gripping it tightly enough to halt the swirling wind inside it.

The technique hissed as it struggled against Azel’s suppression, but his aura enveloped Sylus’s fist, choking out the spiral.

Windflow died.

Sylus’s shock flickered across his face. “He broke it… while holding my hand?”

“Windflow is powerful when you let it roam freely,” Azel said as he tightened his grip. “But once it’s trapped…”

He pulled Sylus toward him and slammed a hard punch into his stomach.

Sylus’s body bent visibly as the air left his lungs in a painful grunt, and even as he tried to leap back, Azel held his arm firmly to prevent escape.

Only after Sylus’s focus flickered did Azel release him… just in time to land a brutal kick to his jaw.

The ground cracked from the impact, but Sylus refused to fly backward.

A burst of redirected wind exploded behind him, redirecting the force and allowing him to remain standing despite the brutal hit.

‘Fifth Windflow.’

The Second Windflow allowed the user to seize control of the wind around their body and legs, letting them accelerate to speeds far above their natural limits.

The Third Windflow took that control a step further, condensing the gathered wind into a focused stream that could be channeled into a single punch or unleashed as a destructive blast.

The Fifth Windflow was an advanced version requiring immense discipline to activate. It redirected momentum backward like a reversed explosion, reinforcing the user’s body at the point of impact.

Sylus grinned even while blood trickled down his lip; he was thrilled Azel pushed him far enough to use it.

But the grin vanished when Azel flickered forward.

He barely had a split-second to form a compressed wall of wind in front of his face.

Azel’s aura-infused fist broke through it like glass and slammed into Sylus’s cheekbone with decisive power.

Sylus’s vision flickered, the world went soft around the edges and consciousness slipped out of his grasp before he even hit the ground.

Azel lowered his arm and rolled his shoulder.

‘Damn… this Windflow really is powerful,’ he thought respectfully.

He could have finished the battle quicker but he had to make sure his Brother-in-law looked good as well.

‘Wait if it’s this strong… why hasn’t Sybil learnt it yet?’ He wondered.
