Chapter 264: Secret
Naelia was more mature than Azel remembered.

Her hair, once reaching just below her shoulders, now flowed down her back in soft waves.

Her expression was calmer too, but he could swear she was still mischievous as well…

She had not only grown in beauty but also in figure as well.

Her breasts were a lot bigger than before, pressing against his torso as she hugged him tightly.

It had been over a year since they last met and in that time… she had grown a lot.

“It’s been a while,” Azel said softly, patting her head.

She was about a head shorter than him, and that made the gesture even more natural.

Naelia pulled back, her cheeks puffed in frustration.

“Why didn’t you come visit?” she asked. “I kept waiting for your letters, but then Father said you were off the Empire and then off tothe academy! I didn’t even know if you still existed!”

She hadn’t been able to get in contact with him one bit ever since her mother “died” in an explosion at the castle…

it was like her father was purposely not wanting them to speak to each other, for whatever reason.

“Believe it or not,” Azel said with a nervous scratch of his head, “I didn’t know where you were until now.”

She crossed her arms, still pouting.

“That’s a poor excuse.” Then she threw a light punch at his stomach.

He didn’t flinch… it was adorable how much she thought it would hurt him.

“I really want to go to the academy too,” she continued after a moment with a downcast expression. “But Father said it’s too dangerous for me right now. He thinks there are still people who might want to hurt me… so I have to wait until I can defend myself. Maybe by next year.”

Only a handful of people knew where she currently was, which were just the people that her father trusted a lot.

But he was still worried about her safety…

Azel nodded, listening as his eyes glanced toward the nearby soldiers.

Rhun and Ravik were sitting not too far from the stake where the werewolf’s head was still impaled.

The two were drinking mugs of ale, clearly forgetting that this was supposed to be a military wall.

‘Lazy bastards,’ Azel thought, suppressing a sigh.

It was still surprising how Ravik fit in nicely without any issues… at least they couldn’t suspect him of sneaking the true werewolf over the walls now.

He turned his attention back to Naelia.

“You mentioned you’re training?”

She smiled brightly. “Ira and I are studying under a Grand Mage who lives nearby. You should meet her! She’s scary sometimes but… she’s amazing.”

Azel blinked. “A Grand Mage?”

In this world, a Grand Mage wasn’t just a powerful spellcaster… they were also living legends.

You could only become a grand mage when you had six or more magic circles around your heart which was why they were so respected.

Ordinary people could go their whole lives without ever seeing one in person. Well that was before the plot of Fall of Ares began, they would be seen like birds very soon.

Yet, in Azel’s case, he’d met several.

It felt too normal now.

“Yes,” Naelia said proudly. “Ira’s training with her right now. When word spread that a silver haired man was on the wall in the Town, I couldn’t believe it. I had to come and see for myself.”

Azel chuckled. “Rumors travel fast.”

“So…” she leaned forward, her smile turning a little shy. “Are you staying long this time?”

“I was only supposed to check on you and Ira before leaving,” he said, watching her expression dim slightly. “But I guess staying a few extra days wouldn’t hurt.”

Naelia’s eyes lit up again instantly. “Good!”

He smiled a bit.

Lycas wasn’t going anywhere.

He could afford to stay… just a little longer.

It would be good to see how far Naelia and Ira had come since he’d last seen them.

And he was interested in Ira’s magic especially since she had a unique kind of magic…

As they started walking toward the lift that would take them down the inner wall, Naelia suddenly glanced at him sideways.

“So…” she began, trying to sound casual, “do you have any girlfriends at the academy?”

Azel blinked.

That came out of nowhere.

He thought about it for a moment.

Sure, he was close to a few heroines but calling any of them his girlfriend would be stretching the truth too far.

“No,” he said with a slight shake of his head.

Naelia let out an audible breath of relief. “Good.”

He raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.

“Alright then,” she said, beaming again. “Let’s go! Ira will be so happy to see you.”

Azel smiled as she tugged at his sleeve.

The sooner he did this, the sooner he would finally get to a bed… standing on a wall for a very long time like he was jobless did a lot of things to a man.

He turned slightly, calling out over his shoulder, “Ravik! Let’s move.”

The disguised werewolf jogged over quickly.

He really looked like a harmless noble attendant if you looked at him from afar…

They reached the lift at the side of the wall.

The lift was an old contraption of steel pulleys that carried people from the top to the bottom of the wall in slow movements.

‘The soldiers really ought to clean this thing up.’ He thought and then looked over at Naelia, ‘Is this how she came up?’

It was times like these that he just wanted to jump down, but alas it was a town below them, and jumping carelessly without anything to fall on would just create dents on the ground.

‘Even an elevator would be good.’ He thought while shaking his head.

Then, just as Ravik reached them, Naelia leaned in and cleared her throat as if she was about to tell him a big secret

“…I know you fucked my mother.”
