Evil MC's NTR Harem - Chapter 1074
Chapter 1074: Chapter 1074 Binder
“Hey, are you okay?” a beautiful Japanese girl asked softly, her dark eyes full of concern.
She stood beside Daniel, her silky black hair cascading over her shoulders and catching the light that filtered through the dome of Refuge Aegis.
She was one of the many stunning women living inside the fortress—elegant, confident, and effortlessly alluring.
Still, unlike the others who often carried an air of cold detachment, she had always treated Daniel kindly.
Perhaps that was why they had grown closer lately.
Life inside Refuge Aegis wasn’t easy.
With fewer than a thousand survivors, every face became familiar, and every relationship carried weight.
Friendships were rare and precious in a world that had lost so much.
That was probably why Daniel found comfort in her company—her gentle voice, her understanding smile, and the way she could sense when something was troubling him.
“I’m fine,” Daniel replied after a pause, though the sigh that followed betrayed his words. “Just… have a lot on my mind lately.”
She tilted her head slightly. “You’ve been distracted for days. Did something happen?”
Daniel hesitated. How could he explain it without sounding ridiculous?
How could he say that the thing weighing on him wasn’t about the danger outside the walls, or the scarcity of food, or the uncertainty of their future—but about his mother?
He glanced away, his eyes fixed on the distant city ruins beyond the transparent shield. “It’s my mom,” he finally said. “I think she’s… seeing someone.”
“Oh,” the girl said softly, sensing the heaviness in his tone. “And you don’t approve?”
Daniel exhaled, rubbing his temples. “It’s not that I don’t want her to be happy. She deserves that, especially after everything we’ve been through. But…” His voice trailed off, frustration flickering across his face. “It’s who she’s with that bothers me.”
Her curiosity deepened. “Who?”
“I…,” Daniel muttered bitterly. “I can’t tell you yet or anybody else for that matter.”
“Okay.” The girl said and did not push further. She was waiting for Daniel to open up.
“I just… I don’t want my mom to get hurt. She’s been through enough.” Daniel said.
The girl’s expression softened, and she placed a gentle hand on his arm. “You care about her a lot.”
“Of course I do,” he said quietly. “She’s my mom. She’s the only family I have left.”
For a moment, silence fell between them.
The faint hum of the barrier echoed in the background, and the lights flickered above.
Then the girl smiled—a soft, reassuring smile that made the tension in his chest ease slightly.
“You’re a good son, Daniel,” she said. “But maybe… give her a chance to find her own happiness. Even if it’s with someone like him.”
Daniel looked at her, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Maybe you’re right. It’s just hard to let go, you know?”
“I know,” she replied gently. “But you’re not alone in this. You still have me.”
Her words lingered, warm and comforting, and for the first time that day, Daniel felt a small measure of peace return to his heart.
“Thank you, Anya,” Daniel said with a faint smile, trying to sound casual. His chest felt heavy, though.
He truly appreciated her warmth and kindness, but deep down, he knew he couldn’t tell her everything—not this.
Not when the truth would cut far deeper than she could ever imagine.
Because Anya wasn’t just anyone.
She was Ross Oakley’s daughter.
The same Ross who was rumored to be his mother’s new lover.
Just thinking about it made Daniel’s stomach twist in knots.
If Anya ever found out, if she learned that her own father might be romantically involved with his mother, it would create a storm he wasn’t ready to face.
He didn’t want to be the one to shatter her trust or taint the growing friendship between them.
He’d grown to like Anya’s company—her easy laughter, her teasing remarks, her energy that could brighten even the darkest corners of the refuge.
Losing that connection wasn’t something he was willing to risk.
He took a deep breath, pushing down the guilt that rose in his chest.
I’ll keep it to myself, he decided. At least until I know for sure. No one needs to know, not yet.
“Duhh… no thanks needed between friends!” Anya said with a playful grin, breaking his thoughts.
She crossed her arms dramatically and tilted her head.
“Come on, let’s go practice our abilities! You’ve been brooding too much lately, Daniel. Let’s see if you can actually keep up with me today.”
Before Daniel could answer, she giggled mischievously—and in an instant, her form began to blur.
Her body shimmered with a silver-blue light as feathers erupted from her skin, wings unfurling with a graceful sweep.
Within seconds, the beautiful girl standing before him had become a magnificent eagle with sharp golden eyes and gleaming plumage.
She let out a piercing cry and flapped her wings once, soaring into the top of the dome with breathtaking speed.
Daniel blinked, then laughed quietly. “You never wait, do you?”
He looked down, stretching out his palm.
The shadows at his feet stirred, rippling like dark water before gathering together, weaving into a solid form—a floating carpet of pure darkness, humming faintly with power.
Daniel stepped onto it, and immediately, it lifted him off the ground with a surge of energy.
The wind rushed against his face as the carpet accelerated, chasing after the streak of light above.
Anya was fast—too fast—but Daniel wasn’t about to let her win so easily.
“Let’s see how you like this,” he muttered, snapping his fingers.
The shadow carpet twisted and curved upward, cutting through the air like an arrow.
Anya noticed and let out a triumphant screech before diving suddenly, her wings folding close to her body.
She darted between towers and narrow corridors of the refuge’s metallic interior, the artificial lights glinting off her feathers.
Daniel followed, his shadow carpet maneuvering skillfully through the tight spaces.
Their laughter filled the air.
