Chapter 3199: Punishment
Alex needed to do 3 things before he could revive Pearl’s father using his beast core.

First, he needed to introduce a Sunheart to the beast core, and infect it with the potent Yang energy.

Second, he needed to pump Life aura into that infected beast core so as to help improve its state.

And lastly, he needed to add some Azure Dragon blood into his own blood. Since his blood was what would be used to form Pearl’s father’s body, Alex wondered if having some Azure Dragon’s bloodline would help his spirit be closer to what he used to be.

He would have to definitely do some experiments afterward to see if he was compatible in any way to help Pearl, but that would be easy. There were many paternity tests that could be done through soul alone, and this one would not be so different either.

The first two happened on their own in the emptiness of his Soul Space. As for the third, he had to make it happen soon. So, Alex brought out the Azure Dragon blood he had collected and began examining them.

It wouldn’t take him long before he found the common bloodline elements in the blood.

Alex sighed when he remembered that he had been wanting to collect the Black Tortoise bloodline first, but since this took precedence, he would have to do that afterward.

So, to bring Pearl’s father back to life as soon as he could, Alex slaved away in a closed room.

Pearl had been in the middle of cultivating when he got the message from the patriarch to visit him. Bai Jingshen had been staying over for their safety, so the two of them left together not long after.

Bai Fulin waited outside the patriarch’s door and led them in once they arrived.

Pearl saw the patriarch waiting upon his seat, and greeted him.

“You have come,” the patriarch said as he walked down from where he had been sitting. “I have been lost in thought on how to deal with the situation you have brought upon me.”

“Surely that’s not Pearl’s fault,” Bai Jingshen said from the side.

The patriarch smiled. “No, of course not. But it’s an issue nonetheless, and I’m not sure how I can help you all.”

“I trust you fully, patriarch. You have no doubt come to a great decision,” Bai Jingshen said with a wide grin.

The patriarch stared at him for a moment. “You and I need to have another talk separately some time in the future. I hear you’ve been keeping a few things from me still.”

Bai Jingshen gave an innocent look. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

The patriarch ignored him. “Regarding the culprits… well, the true culprits are all dead, and their crime is evident per the wildcat you brought over, so we have let their deaths be. Not that we would have done much since their death took place in the Fighting Island.”

“But… as is clear as well, although not very evident sadly, they weren’t the ones who came up with the idea. It was their seniors. They have accepted to pay back a hefty fine for me by hiding this issue under the rug.”

“What?” Bai Jingshen’s eyes widened. “They try to extract Pearl’s blood essence, and they get away with nothing more than a flick on their forehead.”

“Do you want me to go after them?” the patriarch asked.

“Yes, obviously,” Bai Jingshen said. “I left them alive so they could be punished harder.”

“And what if they weren’t the ones that wanted Pearl’s blood essence?” the patriarch asked.

“What?” Bai Jingshen’s eyes narrowed. “Are you saying…”

“Bai Caoming, my cousin. As far as I’m aware, he is the one responsible for all of this. If I were to punish the others fairly, I would end up finding myself face to face with him. And going after an ancestor is not something I wish to do. In my opinion, you’ve punished them enough.”

Bai Jingshen couldn’t hide his anger, but he said nothing further, understanding the situation they were in. The death of 29 White Tigers, even though they had died in the Fighting Island, had just gone unpunished. Those were the talented descendants of so many White Tigers that could be considered pillars of the family.

Should the patriarch do anything to divide the family at this moment, they would no doubt choose the other side, breaking the family in half. It was clear the patriarch didn’t want that.

There could be no civil war between the family members.

Bai Jingshen looked at the patriarch and wondered if there was another reason there. Did the patriarch feel pity for the families that had lost their children?

Well, some of those that had died were his descendants as well. And the family had lost 29 White Tigers, so there was that too.

“Forget about them for now. There should be no danger now that they know for certain we are aware of what they are doing,” the patriarch said. “Now, the bigger problem is that you failed the trial.”

Pearl looked down, feeling ashamed.

“Don’t feel bad,” the patriarch said. “If you ask me, you absolutely passed the trial. Hell, killing 29 other White Tigers at once should be considered as more than passing the trial. Sadly, that was not the criteria I set, and therefore I cannot go against it.”

Pearl nodded.

“As such, from today onward, you must leave the main palace and relocate yourself to one of the outer palaces. Some servants will come to get you soon.”

There was nothing more to say. Pearl bowed toward the patriarch, knowing this was the outcome, and prepared to leave.

“Did you bring the corpses?” the patriarch asked before he could turn.

Pearl gave a confused stare.

“The corpses of the ones you killed. I was told you took it.”

Pearl blinked. “Oh, yes. My brother has it.”

“Would you mind returning them to the family?” the patriarch asked. “I hope to give peace to those who have lost their loved ones.”
