Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3198
Chapter 3198: A Decision
The fact that the matriarch of the Black Tortoise family had not only infiltrated the Fighting Island, but had also found Alex after somehow learning that he was the next Sun God was beyond something Bai Jingshen could’ve expected.
He tried to reason out how she could possibly figure all of that out, but not once could he understand. The eccentricity of the old woman far exceeded his own.
Alex continued explaining. “Once I figured out a way to concentrate bloodline, I needed to learn how to fix the issue with altering Pearl’s soul. For that, I could think of no better location than an Ancestral Bloodline pool. So, I made a deal with her. In place of me helping her by finding a way to improve the chances of evolution for a Black Tortoise, I would be granted the chance to enter and see the process of evolution all by myself.”
Bai Jingshen stared with wide eyes. “And you did, didn’t you?”
Alex nodded. “I found more than just a way to help non-Black Tortoise evolve. I found a way to help any regular beast improve their bloodline drastically. The Black Tortoise matriarchs were more than satisfied with my result.”
“And you entered the pool?” Pearl asked. He too was excited about the story, having not heard it before.
“I did,” Alex said. “I got to stay there for around 2 weeks, before I found the answer I was searching for.”
Bai Jingshen narrowed his eyes. “And the answer being?”
“That we need someone who can help Pearl’s soul change,” Alex answered. “A soul, most likely.”
“I don’t understand,” Pearl said.
“You see. To change the soul of a weaker beast, you need something from the beasts known as Soul Confluence. It’s when the soul of a beast with a stronger bloodline helps push the weaker beast’s soul to become closer to his own,” Alex said, before feeling a tightness on his chest that made him snicker a little. “I’m teetering on the edge.”
“What?”
“Nothing. I swore an oath before entering the bloodline pool, and I’m trying to find a balance between what I can say and cannot say.”
Bai Jingshen was curious, but he did not press the issue any further.
Pearl tapped the side of his bedpost with a single claw. “So wait, we need to find an Azure Dragon that is willing to help us?” he asked.
“Not exactly,” Alex explained. “Not just any Azure Dragon can work. We need to find one that has had some mutations, allowing him to reproduce with a White Tiger.”
Bai Jingshen scoffed. “Good luck finding someone like that. Do you know how difficult it is for someone with such a mutation to be born? We could never find someone like Qing Tianchui again.”
Pearl’s face fell. Where was he supposed to find another dragon like his father?
“Who says we have to find someone like Pearl’s father?” Alex asked with a grin, flipping his palm as a beast core appeared upon it. “We already have him.”
Bai Jingshen suddenly became alert, staring at the beast core. “That’s…”
“Father,” Pearl said in a weak voice, confusion filling him immediately. “What are we doing?”
“Turning him into a Blood Beast,” Alex said. “You see, I thought of something. When I realized that I needed someone whose soul matched your own, I wondered, ‘Where can I find someone like Pearl’s father?’ and then I thought, wait a second, I don’t have to. I have him right here.”
“But,” Pearl flustered a little. “But… he’ll be a Blood Beast. Will that work? Will that even be his soul anymore?”
“I won’t lie, I don’t know,” Alex said. “I don’t even know if we can figure that out until after we have formed a Blood Beast out of him.”
Pearl’s eyes drooped. “Then… do we take the risk?” he asked.
Alex gave a soft smile. “That’s for you to decide, Pearl. Whether or not he can help you, I have pretty much already considered using your father’s core to form him as a Blood Beast. He won’t be the same person who died all those years ago. He may not even have all of his memories. But he will be your father.”
Pearl’s breathing deepened.
“We’ll form a Blood Beast out of him and you can spend some time with him. If you feel you want your father, we’ll forget about giving you your bloodline in the end. But, if you think you want your bloodline, your father can help you.”
Pearl’s eyes narrowed. “What will happen to him if he helps me?” he asked.
Alex took a moment before answering. “His Blood Beast will most definitely die. I was told that a Divinity would likely kill themselves when trying to improve the bloodline of an Immortal.”
Pearl’s face fell. He couldn’t make the choice at all. It was not so easy. He wanted his bloodline, but more than that, he also wanted his father.
All this time, he had been waiting in expectation to one day talk to him when he was in Alex’s mind, just like his mother had been for that brief period. However, thanks to Alex’s advancement in Blood Beasts, he could now form one with memories of the past.
Pearl had been looking forward to that for some time, but the time to call for his father had never come.
Now that his father was going to return to life, he needed to make the decision on whether to kill him or not.
Pearl wasn’t sure he could make the decision.
“You can spend some time with your father, Pearl,” Alex said. “It will take a while before I’m anywhere close to being ready to help you evolve anyway. We can revive your father as a Blood Beast in a few weeks’ time, and you can spend most of the other times with him, getting close to him. By then, you will have hopefully spent enough time with your father to know what you want.”
“You make that decision, and we will accept it, no questions asked.”
