Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3190
Chapter 3190: Chase
“Take down the formation.”
“Close the barrier.”
“Let me out!”
The White Tigers helplessly shouted at the non-White Tigers around the area, who were keeping a guard on the formation. Being far enough away, with their spiritual sense only extending as far as 500 meters, they hadn’t the faintest idea what had happened at all.
All they could hear was explosions, so the sudden arrival of all these White Tigers had been a surprise to them. They more or less understood what the task they had come here for was, and it was supposed to be a very easy one.
And yet, the panic they saw in the faces of these White Tigers was one that made them panic as well.
“OPEN THE DAMN BARRIER!”
More shouts came, causing the beasts to hastily rush to shut down the formation. However, before they could do so, fights began next to them, causing them to move away.
They turned around just in time to see a stripeless tiger kill the White Tigers that were running away. Those beasts could hardly believe their eyes. Fear crept up their bodies, their spines growing cold at the sight of the bloody tiger.
Pearl took one glance at the non-White Tigers and struck them, simply knocking them out. There was no reason to kill them.
One by one, the White Tigers began dying all around. Even when they managed to use some important treasure to protect themselves from Pearl, even managing to kill him in the process, another Pearl would come from the side and finish them off.
After the array’s disappearance, none of the beasts were strong enough to stand a single hit from Pearl. Bai Yanbei, who was the only one who could maybe go toe to toe for a while, was busy running away right then.
His 3 duplicates had long since turned into a single one, unable to keep up the White Tiger’s Steps after the array’s dismissal. As such, 4 of Pearl’s duplicates were hunting down the other White Tigers, while a single Pearl followed Bai Yanbei.
The damn tiger was faster than Pearl could have imagined. With his Divine Qi, his speed far outstripped Pearl’s speed that came from his physical strength.
On top of that, he had gotten onto the ship they had arrived upon and was making his way out of the barrier. Someone had finally shut down the barrier, allowing 3 remaining White Tigers to escape.
The other two were quickly hunted down by other Pearl duplicates, but Bai Yanbei managed to leave Pearl behind.
Pearl had not the slightest intention of letting him go. The other Pearl duplicates vanished the moment all the other White Tigers were dead, Pearl’s final body recovering all of his strength.
Then, he chased after Bai Yanbei.
Space warped around Pearl as he shrank space and teleported, all at the same time, to speed him up far faster than his regular speed could give him. He crossed mountains in a single step, teleporting across dozens of kilometers.
Even then, Bai Yanbei was so much faster.
Pearl feared at that point that the ship Bai Yanbei was using was in fact a Divine-grade ship. That sort of ship would be in its own tier of speed that Pearl could hardly follow with his own ability.
Sadly, he didn’t have much of a choice.
Considering what Bai Yanbei had called his mother, he had created a death feud between the two of them. Pearl would either kill Yanbei today or die trying. There was no in-between anymore.
Pearl was thankful that he was so far up north. Even at the speed Yanbei moved in his ship, it would at least take him an entire day to reach the southern half of the island, where laws existed and he could be punished.
Pearl thought about it and still found it unlikely that he would stop there. The main issue there would be that there would be Divine beasts that wouldn’t let him get his kill.
In a way, he was thankful that Bai Yanbei didn’t have any teleportation artifact or talisman to escape the island. He had likely come here imagining there would be no one stronger than him, thus he would never have needed any escape methods.
Normally, such recklessness would be valid for the beast. But today, that would be his downfall.
Pearl sped up to his absolute limit, following the Divine ship even as it tried to weave around the sky, getting rid of Pearl. Not once did Bai Yanbei turn around to attack Pearl, simply focused on his own survival.
Pearl wasn’t sure if that was because of his panic or if he simply didn’t have any option to do so. Since nothing did happen, Pearl was only left racing after the ship.
He ran for nearly 3 hours, growing very much certain now that unless Bai Yanbei made a mistake, he wouldn’t be able to catch him. And yet, he still had to follow him.
So, when in the midst of the monotonous chase, a change grew in him, he couldn’t be any happier.
“Brother!” Pearl called out as he finally sensed Alex in the distance. No reply came at all; the distance was still too far away, it seemed, but he did sense Alex.
Considering how slowly the sense came, Alex had to have arrived some time ago.
A subtle hint of a sensation came through their bond, a feeling of happiness and success.
Pearl didn’t want to think what that meant just yet. He would leave it for after he was done with his revenge. Instead, Pearl sent over a message of his own through the bond.
He did his best to send over a sense of urgency and need for haste, while trying his best to make Alex understand that he was not in any danger.
A sensation of confusion and yet obedience returned from Alex. He moved from where he was, approaching Pearl with all the haste he could muster.
Pearl smiled. Since his brother was going to help him now, he couldn’t imagine failing anymore.
