Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3184
Chapter 3184: Failed
Pearl could hardly think about the dead wolf when the others turned their gazes toward him. The first to lunge for him was one of the other two Immortal Spirit realm beasts, striking at Pearl with White Tiger’s Golden Claw.
If Pearl took this hit, there was a great chance that he would be critically injured. That would leave the others to kill him within seconds.
Without hesitation, he teleported away, arriving next to one of the other White Tigers.
The White Tiger reacted just in the nick of time, her body glowing with a golden glow even as Pearl’s spear came close to striking. The force of his attack sent her crashing backward, but it hardly did anything to actually hurt her.
Pearl had half his attention on the formation that had been prepared, used to keep him from teleporting away. If he could reach the edge of it, maybe he could—
Pearl reacted just in time as another White Tiger charged for him. He teleported away from the location, but noticed a feeling of sluggishness when he did so.
His eyes turned around, scanning through the gathered White Tigers, until he noticed a few who had already begun attempting to stop him from teleporting.
Pearl remembered back to the first White Tiger he had fought and killed. The tiger had known quite well how to keep him from teleporting using his Intent. Considering these people came here for him, there was no surprise that they knew this very technique as well.
Pearl held his spear more tightly, taking in deep breaths. He looked around, feeling the pressure against his teleportation. He would have to put in some work to break through it, and that would give ample time for the others to attack.
He thought of escaping the barrier that had been set up, but would that even help? That artifact from earlier could find him as soon as he left.
Things were dire.
Pearl took in a deep breath and calmed down, outwardly showing a somewhat panicked look to lure the beasts into a false sense of security. He needed them to think that he was captured, so that they let their guard down.
No White Tiger did anything, waiting only for the main one to come back for him.
The beast did. He walked slowly, approaching Pearl with a mirthless face. He stopped about 50 meters away from Pearl before opening his mouth again.
“I do not believe we’ve been acquainted. My name is Bai Yanbei, a 4th Generation White Tiger,” the beast introduced himself. “Considering your apprehension of us, I will assume you are aware of what we are here for. As such, I will not waste either of our time. I will give you one chance to live. Surrender your Blood Essence and you can walk away unharmed.”
Pearl let out a snort. “You say I can be unharmed, and yet no harm could be worse than giving up my Blood Essence. Your words are contradictory, Bai Yanbei.”
“Of course, it will be harmful for you,” Yanbei said. “But no additional harm shall come to you from any of the White Tigers.”
Pearl stared at the beast for some time before a lopsided grin appeared on his face. “You wish to steal my Blood Essence, which is a crime worth the most extreme punishment in the family, and yet you say you’ll let me live. When you say no White Tigers will harm me, does that mean you wish to have one of the non-White Tigers in your group kill me?”
Yanbei remained expressionless for a moment before a small smile formed on his lips. “If you know all this, then you know that you are not leaving here alive. We will take your Blood Essence from you. Whether you wish to give it up on your own, or have us rip it out of you, that’s all up to you.”
“Why are you doing this?” Pearl asked. “Why would you want to kill another one of your kin?”
Yanbei’s smile disappeared in an instant, a hateful expression appearing on his face.
“You are no kin of mine. You are a mixed blood, someone who doesn’t even have the stripes. You are only alive because of your whore of a mother, when you should have been killed in her womb. I know why you won’t transform. Your impurity makes you vomit, doesn’t it? Just like it does to the rest of us.”
Pearl heard the world around him ring, colors fade for a moment before it slowly saturated in his vision. Never before had anger flared in him so suddenly that he nearly lost all sense of sound and sight.
His grip around his spear tightened, his eyes slowly growing red with rage.
At that moment, nothing mattered to Pearl. It did not matter that he was surrounded. It did not matter that these people were going to strip his Blood Essence from him.
It did not matter that he was in the middle of the trial.
If he could kill the one standing before him, he was willing to let himself fail in every single thing else.
So, he did.
With 2 years left before the trial was over, Pearl failed.
The exotic brooch pinned on his chest fell to the ground, its restrictions no longer affecting Pearl. His cultivation base didn’t change. He was still only an Immortal Transcendent 1st realm beast.
However, his body cultivation was a different matter.
Pearl let out a deep, visceral growl.
“I’ll kill you.”
He moved. He didn’t teleport. He didn’t shrink space. He just moved.
And in the next moment, he arrived before Bai Yanbei, holding not a spear in his hand, but only a fist.
Pearl punched.
Bai Yanbei barely managed to keep up with Pearl’s speed, his body glowing golden as he used the White Tiger’s Dominating Body at the last moment.
Pearl’s fist landed on the tiger’s face, creating an explosive boom that leveled the area. Despite the defensive technique, Yanbei was still blown back through the ground, leaving a crater at the foot of the mountain.
