Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 3179
Chapter 3179: Secrets Unknown
Alex’s face was covered in both surprise and doubt. If the two Divine Senses indeed spoke the truth, then it was a matter for deep surprise. However, there was also a great chance for them to be lying. He could not for the life of him understand how the Progenitor could be alive for this long.
Everything he understood about Immortal life was that every 10 thousand years, every Immortal had to go through the Immortal Tribulation, be they body or soul. For the Heavenly Beasts, it was 15 thousand years.
If so, any Heavenly beasts who was at the end of the Divine realm would have a little over 900 thousand years of lifespan. Even if they were in the Celestial realm and at the peak of that, they only got another 300 thousand or so years before they perished.
At best, the lifespan of a Heavenly Beast, had they properly taken the Immortal Tribulation once every 15 thousand years, would be 1.2 million years. And the Progenitors were a lot older than that.
“Forgive me for doubting your words, but if you are the Progenitor of the Black Tortoises, you should have been dead long ago. Even as a soul, you should have perished through your Immortal Tribulations. How can I trust you are the Progenitors?” Alex asked.
The two voices silenced for some time before one of them spoke again.
“You who has the Sun God’s body, how old are you?” the snake statue asked.
“Less than 2 thousand years,” Alex said.
“And do you think you have discovered all the secrets of this world in the measly 2 thousand years you’ve been alive?”
Alex shrank back a little. “No, I dare not make such a claim.”
“Then how can you be sure that we are alive through means that you don’t yet even have the capacity to understand?” the snake asked.
Alex paused for a moment, realizing that he may have made the beast angry. “My apologies. I was simply confused. You are correct in that I do not yet know everything. I would be honored if you could explain this to me.”
He even bowed a little to make his request.
“Raise your head, child,” the tortoise’s voice came, a little gentler than his brother’s. “How we survive is simple. We have imbued our Creations into these statues, and within these statues, we’ve hid our souls.”
Alex was taken aback for a few seconds. ‘Creation in the statue? Is that why I could not sense anything about it?’ he thought, finally gaining some understanding. Aside from that, he was also quite surprised that the tortoise was actually willing to answer his questions.
In these cases, most chose to keep their reasons hidden.
A fragment of a memory from long ago flashed in his mind, something about a Divine realm cultivator’s dying soul being kept in his Creation. It was the very first Creation Alex had ever seen that he knew was a Creation. The idol back then housed a tremendous amount of Death Aura, which he had later fed to Godslayer.
‘Godslayer said at that time that the Creation housed a soul that had all but died after going through Immortal Tribulations, and was only hanging on because it was inside the Creation,’ he thought. ‘So could a soul hide from Immortal Tribulation by being inside their own Creation?’
The chances of that being true were less than solid. If it were true, there would be many souls running around in their Creations, forever hidden from the eyes of Heaven.
Which meant they were right. Even though he knew so much about this world, more than the average Immortal would know, perhaps even more than what some Divinities would, he still had so much more to learn.
Which also meant the tortoise hadn’t answered him fully.
Alex thought for a moment whether to push for the truth or not, only to quickly take a mental step back. This wasn’t what he was here for. The presence of Progenitors was surprising, sure, but he was here for Pearl.
Everything else, even the tiny hint of chance that these weren’t even the Progenitors, could wait.
“You have some questions,” the tortoise said. “I can see it in your face.”
“I do, senior. Quite a few, but there’s only one I need the answer to.”
“You want to understand the secret behind forced evolution,” the snake said.
Alex nodded.
“Why?”
Alex explained the situation as clearly as he could. He even went into Pearl’s lineage of coming from two Heavenly Beasts. The two souls asked a few questions regarding that matter alone before finally taking his words for the truth they were.
“You have methods to improve his bloodline, do you not?” the snake asked.
“I do,” Alex said. “But I fear that it will create a conflict between his soul and body since his current bloodline is so very weak.”
“But you have methods to improve his bloodline,” the snake said again.
“Yes, but he’s too weak, so the changes will be too strong,” Alex said.
“You don’t have to make him an Azure Dragon. You just need to improve his bloodline to an acceptable point,” the snake said. “After that, he can go visit the Azure Dragons, and Qing Tailong will take care of the rest.”
Alex paused for a moment, never having even considered this line of thinking at all. It was true that he no longer had to fully improve Pearl’s bloodline, just help him get halfway there. Then Qing Tailong could take him the rest of the way.
‘The Azure Dragon patriarch did mention he would allow Pearl to join, so he could—wait… Qing Tailong? That’s not the patriarch. That’s…’
Alex’s eyes widened.
That was the Progenitor of the Azure Dragons.
‘Send Pearl to the Progenitor?’ Alex thought, his eyes narrowing for a moment before shock filled it completely.
“The dragon’s Ancestral Pool,” Alex said, his gaze turning toward the two statues. “Are you saying that the Azure Dragon Progenitor is alive as well, just like the two of you?”
