Chapter 381: Welcome To The Club!
The corner of Alex’s lips twitched when he saw the two ladies standing behind Chuck.
A part of him wanted to shriek like a little girl. Another part of him wanted to walk calmly to the window and jump out. It didn’t matter to him that he was on the highest floor. In fact, he thought it was a good thing he was on the highest floor!
“Everyone, please welcome our two aspiring club members!” Chuck said with a smile. “Let me introduce you to Ms. Eleanora of Class 2-A and Ms. Evangeline of Class 1-C!”
The club members clapped politely to welcome the two aspiring club members Chuck had suddenly brought inside their club room.
Princess Xenia and Mary narrowed their eyes at the same time when they noticed that Chuck seemed particularly close to the girl named Eleanora.
The princess then gave Mary the “investigate her background as soon as possible” gaze, to which the maid nodded in understanding, having already planned to do so.
“Chuck, can I have a word with you?” Alex asked, wanting nothing more than to give his troublesome roommate a smack on the head for bringing the two girls whom they shouldn’t interact with, no matter what!
Originally, Chuck had only planned to “invite” Eleanora to the club because he wanted to keep a close eye on her.
He’d been waiting for her to show up.
Unsurprisingly, Eleanora had shown up, only that she’d been dragged by Evangeline. At this sight, Chuck had asked what was happening.
“I want to join Endless Horizon,” Evangeline had said truthfully.
“Welcome to the club!” Chuck, ever the troublemaker, had just accepted her enthusiasm to join the club without asking anything else.
His reason was that since they were classmates, there was nothing wrong for Evangeline to join Endless Horizon as well.
Perhaps sensing that Alex might reject the two girls, Chuck didn’t budge and crossed his arms over his chest.
“Alex, I’ve already given my word that they can join our club,” Chuck said, determined. “I hope that you look at them kindly.”
“I haven’t had the chance to mention this yet, but I have updated the requirements for new applicants,” Alex answered. “I’m afraid that they don’t meet those requirements.”
“You have?” Chuck blinked.
“Yes, I have,” Alex answered.
“So, they can’t join our club?” Chuck tilted his head.
“It’s not like they definitely cannot join,” Alex said carefully. He was tempted to let Evangeline in since she was one of the Main Heroines of the story.
However, letting Eleanora join would be akin to letting a fox into a henhouse! She was a spy of the Lord of Vampires, one of the Executives of the Demon Worshipers.
“So can they join or not?” Renard asked as he rested his chin on his palm. “I think you should let them join since Chuck has already promised them. It will not be good if rumors spread that we are not men of our word.”
Chuck gave Renard a thumbs-up for the unexpected support.
Nessia had been observing Alex’s reaction from the start. Although Evangeline and Eleanora were standing together, the future Phoenix Tactician had managed to pick up that Alex was wary of only Eleanora.
‘So she’s the problem, huh?’ Nessia thought. ‘But Chuck seems adamant that she should join our club. Is he being blackmailed by her? Did he fall into a honey trap?’
While Nessia was deep in thought, Lumi—who didn’t like noisy discussions in the club room—made a proposal.
“Then how about we vote for it?” Lumi proposed. “Those who are in favor of letting Ms. Evangeline and Ms. Eleanora join our club, raise your hands.”
Chuck, Charles, Renard, Lumi, and Lapiz raised their hands.
Those who didn’t raise their hands were Alex, Lavinia, Nessia, Princess Xenia, and Mary.
Technically, Latifa didn’t raise her hand either, but since she was sleeping, the votes were tied.
“I really want to join this club,” Evangeline said as she held Alex’s gaze. “Please let me join.”
Alex found himself looking at her eyes, which reminded him of that little girl lying in the snow.
He couldn’t feel any malice or hostility in Evangeline’s gaze. Instead, he felt longing, determination, and even a hint of desperation.
These emotions made Alex scratch the back of his head before sighing deeply.
“Fine, both of you can join,” Alex replied. “But both of you will need to sign a magical contract.”
“A magical contract?” Eleanora asked. “What kind of contract?”
The words magical contract were enough to traumatize her, especially after what had happened between her and Chuck.
“Don’t worry,” Alex said. “The contract will only state that you are not allowed to divulge anything you see or hear inside the club room.
“Think of it as a Non-Disclosure Agreement between us. Since we are basically the most famous club in the academy right now, many people want to find our weakness.”
Evangeline nodded readily. “I agree to sign this magical contract.”
“I-I also agree.” Eleanora wouldn’t allow her Mistress to join the club without her, so she had little choice but to accept Alex’s condition.
“Great!” Alex smiled. “Nessia, please write the contract.”
“Understood.” Nessia fixed her glasses with her middle finger as she squinted at Alex.
She had been overworked as of late. If not for the fact that she was being paid generously by her club president, she might have already filed for a week-long paid vacation from the club.
After Nessia had written up the contract, Evangline and Eleanora were asked to drop their blood on the magic contract to bind them to the agreement that was written on it.
A faint light shone over the contract after it absorbed the young ladies’ blood, proving that the contract was now active.
Although Alex didn’t know if the magical contract was strong enough to bind Eleanora, he decided to believe in the capabilities of Nessia since she was also one of the Main Heroines of ELO.
“Welcome to the club!” Alex said with a mechanical smile. “I hope that we all get along, and may both of you enjoy your stay.”
Chuck clapped his hands, prompting the others to welcome their two new members with another round of applause.
Dim Dim immediately suggested a welcoming party and didn’t hesitate to fill the table with bamboo steamers, each containing a different kind of dumpling.
Evangeline was happy because she had achieved her goal. Meanwhile, Eleanora was observing everyone with a critical gaze as she munched on a custard bun.
Now that she was a member of Endless Horizon, she would do her best to investigate this little club that was making a lot of waves within Frieden Academy.
