Chapter 362: The Pettiness Of A Noble [Part 1]
‘Those bastards—how dare they look down on me?!’ Victor clenched his fists in anger. ‘Does Vaan think I won’t dare to expose his secret?!’

He still couldn’t forget the way Vaan had looked provocatively at him, as if daring him to tell everyone about the secret that he’d hidden all these years.

‘Did he perhaps think his friends would protect him once his secret is out?!’ Victor sneered. ‘I bet they will be the first to distance themselves and look at him in disgust!’

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.

In the past, whenever he had even hinted that he might reveal the secret, the delicate teenage boy would look anxious and fearful.

The feeling of having total control over someone’s fate was very intoxicating to Victor. Unfortunately, Vaan had disappeared before he could take advantage of this.

He wasn’t aware that around that time, Vaan—in his moment of desperation—had sought out the Demon Worshipers so that he could take revenge for his family.

Since he had been young and innocent, Willow had easily tricked him and assumed control of his body. She had used it to commit many heinous acts, which had gradually corrupted Vaan’s untainted soul.

As the eldest son of the Montclair Family was fuming in the garden, a man and woman approached him.

“Sir, you called for us?” the man asked.

“You’re one of the Demon Worshipers here, right?” Victor asked. “I want you to do something for me!”

The man hastily looked at their surroundings before dragging the arrogant noble farther from the Grand Hall.

To ensure their privacy, the woman stayed behind to keep an eye out, ready to warn them in case someone walked into the garden.

“Sir, if you want to continue collaborating with us, you’d better be careful of how you address us here in the academy,” the man growled, unleashing a bit of pressure, which made Victor shudder. “Otherwise, you and your family need not exist.”

Victor understood that he had made a terrible mistake due to a moment of anger, so he quickly apologized and tried to pacify the man who had answered his summons.

“I apologize,” Victor replied. “It won’t happen again. I promise!”

“You better make sure it won’t happen again, or the Montclair Family will suffer the same fate as the Damne Family,” the man added. “We only cooperated with your father back then because it aligned with our goals.

“Remember, if your family no longer holds any value to us, you will suffer the same fate as them! Now speak, why did you call us at this time?”

Victor apologized for the second time before telling the agent of the Demon Worshipers his request.

“I want you to do something to make Vaan leave the Grand Hall on his own,” Victor said respectfully. “If he can’t go alone, having one or two of his friends accompany him is also fine.”

“You want Vaan Damne to leave the Grand Hall?” The man frowned. “And why should we do that?”

“Because if you do, I promise we will able to annex the Damne Viscounty sooner than expected. Won’t that also benefit your organization?”

The man’s frown deepened. It was not hard to make Vaan leave the Grand Hall. However, he wanted to know where Victor’s confidence was coming from.

“Very well,” the man replied reluctantly. “Don’t disappoint us, Victor Montclair.”

After saying those words, the man left to realize the young man’s request.

The Montclair Family was a hidden supporter of the Demon Worshipers, so doing them this small favor wasn’t a big deal.

He was also curious how they would be able to gain control over the Damne Viscounty, which had practically lost its owner, just by convincing Vaan to leave the Grand Hall.

Once those lands belonged to the Demon Worshipers, they would be able to use it as a hub of operation and further expand their influence in the Kingdom of Avalon.

When Willow had still been possessing Vaan, the plan was to marry Victor so that the Montclair Family would be able to use the Damne Family’s resources to fund their operations.

However, after a year or two, Willow would kill Victor, making Vaan a widow. Willow would then take over both the Damne and Montclair territories at the same time.

That plan naturally got cut off after Alex had killed Willow in the Mistral Weave Forest.

So now, the Demon Worshipers were still collaborating with the Montclair Family in the hope that they could still salvage the situation.

“Are we really going to do what he wants us to do?” the woman asked. “Won’t this cause a commotion?”

“It’s fine,” the man replied. “I know of a way to make it look like an accident. We just have to wait to see if Victor really knows what he is doing.”

The woman sighed but made no more comments.

They would simply do their job and make sure that it couldn’t be traced back to them.

———

Back in the Grand Hall…

Alex was once again dancing. This time, his partner was Lotte… At least that was what everyone thought.

As he danced alongside the beautiful Fox Lady, he couldn’t help but look at her eyes, which seemed very content as the slow and soft music played in the background.

“I know it’s you, Latifa,” Alex said softly. “Are you playing a prank on me?”

Latifa could easily switch consciousness with her Alters anytime she wanted to.

She had sent Lotte to the party to observe Alex and had gotten annoyed after seeing so many young ladies—who didn’t even belong to their club—asking him to dance!

Alex had accepted some of these requests, including dancing with Lady Celestria.

During the dance, the two of them had discussed a few things. The Saintess’ cheeks had reddened when leaving the dance floor.

Latifa didn’t know what they had talked about, but the smile on Alex’s face convinced her that she should take this opportunity to dance with him as well.
