Chapter 1438: Dark Evolution (Part 2)
Before leaving Izardo, Adam faced a problem — the Path Construct still hadn’t absorbed the Dark Heart.

It seemed that Adam had to stay in the city because, after talking to Erada, he knew that he would be hunted.

But the whole thing was in the Dark Heart. The progress of absorbing its energy slowed down quite a bit. The Path Construct did not stop, but when less than 5% of the Dark Heart remained, the speed dropped significantly.

Adam didn’t notice this last time because he was in a deep sleep for several weeks after the battle against Ureyn and receiving the Connected Heart.

Now, Adam didn’t want to waste so much time. Moreover, he knew what he had to do to significantly speed up the process — to fight.

Sure, Adam didn’t know who his opponent would be, and that it would turn out to be Menax — a monster with power that exceeded even his wildest expectations.

Well, even though Adam suffered several serious wounds and was in mortal danger, in a way, it was a good outcome for him.

It was situations like this that forced his energy and body to work at their limits, so the Path Construct absorbed the last part of the Dark Heart at the very last moment.

The world froze for Adam — a massive golden palm hovered above him, and in a split second, it would crash down on him and turn him into a bloody stain at the bottom of the canyon.

Darkness reflected in Adam’s eyes as he found himself in his inner space.

Before he could even realize it, the runes headed towards him, not wasting a single moment. Even though he was in his inner space, he had critically little time. Any delay could lead to death.

[The Dark Heart was completely absorbed.]

[All conditions were met. The energy from all three sources is stable and under control.]

[Star 7# became the Second Grand Star of the ??? Constellation.]

Adam nodded slightly.

He remembered perfectly well how everything had happened last time. When he created the First Grand Star, his Constellation evolved, and lines appeared connecting the grand star with the lesser stars.

Then, a powerful flow of energy followed, as well as two Star Runes. With their help, he was able to change and improve two of his abilities.

Obviously, Adam expected the same, but the Star Runes were not there, nor was the energy flow.

“What? Why isn’t anything happening…?” Adam muttered, puzzled. His heart began to beat faster since he understood that if he didn’t get new power right now, he would lose.

Whether his evolution would be powerful depended on whether he could survive Menax’s attack and continue the fight.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The Path Construct trembled as a glass prism with a shining tip appeared from the bright light. It slowly swayed from side to side, casting its light on different parts of the Evolution Tree.

[The Star Prism appeared.]

[The Star Prism will combine two parts of your power to create something new, something that will help you become stronger and save your life.]

[You are undergoing evolution in a critical situation, so appropriate measures will be taken.]

As before, Adam had no control over what the Path Construct would decide to do. The first time, this upset him, but now he understood that this was the best way to make the most of this opportunity.

The Path Construct reflected Adam’s will, powers, and most importantly, his path.

Perhaps if Adam had controlled the Star Runes and Star Prism, he would have gained other abilities, but most likely they would have been inferior and not as suitable for his current state.

“Why is it taking so long?” Adam frowned, staring intently at the Star Prism, which still couldn’t decide on a goal. “Come on! A giant golden hand is about to crush me! Make me stronger! Show me that I’ve overcome all the barriers for something!”

Strangely enough, the Star Prism stopped abruptly as three beams of light emerged from the Second Grand Star. They all headed towards the Star Prism, filling it with the power of the Dark Heart, Connected Heart, and Desire of Beyond.

The Silver Weaver, Lone Blaze, and even Silvana watched the situation from the sidelines. They understood that Adam had no time for anything else right now. They only hoped that none of them would become a target.

TREMBLE!

With a deafening tremor, a laser of compressed energy flew out of the Star Prism and split into two rays.

One of the rays crashed into the Evolution Tree right into the Dual Demon Sword, while the second headed towards the Nexus hovering nearby.

Adam’s eyes widened when a mechanical voice came from the Path Construct in the inner space.

[The Foundation Artifact – Dual Demon Sword and the Core Nexus – Epos of Exhausted Descent will be fused and transformed into something new under the action of the Star Prism. This decision cannot be removed or reversed.]

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The Dual Demon Sword and Nexus resisted. They wanted to remain in their places, feeding on the power from the Evolution Tree, but the Star Prism was too strong. Two rays forcibly brought them closer together.

Whoooooooosh.

A bright light ran through the rays, causing the Dual Demon Sword and Nexus to break into myriad particles to merge.

Despite his desire to see every moment, even Adam had to cover his eyes with his hand from the blinding light.

He didn’t know what would happen next and what his Artifact and Nexus would turn into. These were two parts of his power that had never interacted before. They evolved and developed, but had been with him since the beginning of his long journey.

Now, it was time for them to disappear and allow Adam to take a step forward — to create something new, something that would remind him of his battle and defeat against the one who was called the strongest.
