Chapter 1435: Golden Ray (Part 1)
Darkness surrounded Adam, becoming denser and heavier. It narrowed in, trying to crush him from all sides like a mere insect.

Despite the golden palms pressing down on him, Adam saw no light, only darkness surrounding him, increasing the tension with every heartbeat.

“Adam, are you alright…?” Silvana asked, a hint of panic in her voice.

In response, Adam clenched his teeth, trying with all his might to push the palms pressing down on him apart.

“Grh!” Adam clenched his teeth. “Damn it, I can’t even move them! I knew the last hunter would be strong, but this is not what I expected.”

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Adam’s hands trembled while Menax watched it all from the sidelines. He hovered in the canyon, watching intently as the golden palms gradually narrowed, squeezing the space between them.

He had no control over the process and could do anything he wanted at that moment. He just had to give his energy to the golden palms so that they could continue to do their job. Considering the amount of energy a monster like Menax possessed, he could do this for hours.

However, both Menax and Adam understood that one attack would not be enough. Otherwise, their fight would be meaningless for both of them.

“Alright…” Adam croaked as his aura grew stronger. “It’s time to end this. I can’t let him kill me right at the beginning!”

Menax’s eyes widened momentarily as electrical discharges burst out through gaps in the golden palms.

The black lightning bolts increased in power with tremendous force until they finally managed to shatter one of the palms into pieces.

Whoooosh.

Adam flew out with a great frown. It was only the beginning of the battle, and Menax’s attack was nothing more than a greeting, but it was enough for Adam to understand how serious things were this time.

‘Tsk, I can’t treat him lightly.’

His wings spread wide as he soared through the canyon, looking down at Menax from above.

“Impressive.” Menax nodded slightly. “I thought I could force you to use some ability and even hurt you, but… Your lightning bolts are surprisingly strong, especially for someone who uses threads and needles for battle.”

Adam rolled his eyes.

“Come on, no one will believe that. I’m sure you didn’t even use 1% of your energy on that attack.”

In response, Menax glanced back at the corpses of the hunters covering the bottom of the canyon.

“You may not believe it, but I used much more power on that than to deal with this trash.”

“Trash?” Adam raised an eyebrow.

Menax nodded.

“Yes. They were of different ages, different factions, and different strengths, but they all had one goal — to kill you. Yet none of them could have done it. Sure, you would have been injured if one had gone up against all of them, but you would have definitely dealt with them.”

Adam narrowed his eyes, sensing not only arrogance in Menax’s voice, but also sincere belief in his words. It was one of the most dangerous combinations.

“Yeah? What about you, then? Do you think pieces of gold can defeat me?”

In fact, Adam was impressed, not only by Menax’s first attack and the fact that he had killed all the hunters, but also by Menax’s abilities. Usually, the opponents Adam fought used one of the standard elements, be it flame, fire, wind, or lightning.

Sure, this was not surprising, as rarer elements were not encountered as often. Adam himself was one such example. Also, he had fought opponents with complex and unusual abilities several times, as had any warrior who had been through many battles.

However, despite his battle-filled path, Menax was the first monster to use gold as a weapon.

“Pieces of gold?” Menax raised an eyebrow. “You can call it what you want, but gold is not my power, it is only its reflection, one of several.”

Before Adam could react, Menax put his palms together and thrust them forward like a spear.

He swung one palm up and the other down, leaving a straight line of dense, golden light in the air.

Adam’s pupils narrowed as he flapped his wings, trying to fly away as quickly as possible.

Whooooooosh!

The golden blade swept past him on his right, cutting through a wing and the dark clouds high above.

Adam’s gaze followed the golden blade to the very end, until a bright flash covered the sky.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

A deafening explosion of golden flames erupted from the dark veil as the clouds fled away from the flames.

Strangely enough, Adam couldn’t take his eyes off it. He couldn’t believe that all this had happened from a simple wave of two palms.

Clutch!

Suddenly, something tightened around Adam’s neck as he looked down, only to see Menax’s cold eyes.

“Are you looking at the result of my attack as if it were a painting?” Menax tightened his grip, causing Adam to gasp. “You’d better be more careful if you don’t want to turn this fight into an inglorious beating!”

Menax roared as he threw Adam down with such force that when Adam’s back hit the bottom of the canyon, a cloud of dust and earth billowed upward.

Yet, that wasn’t enough. Menax had come here to surpass his limits, to prove to himself that even a stellar phantom was no match for him.

Tap.

Menax waved his hands as more than a dozen portals appeared above the crash site. In the next moment, the golden arms came out, like hail falling directly on Adam.

At least that’s what Menax believed.

Whoooooooosh.

Adam ran out of the dust cloud as blue lightning covered his body. He could no longer fly and perform powerful attacks, but his physical abilities had increased, and he had spent almost no energy.

“Decided to get rid of your wings?” Menax thought, moving his hand slightly. “Well, that won’t help you.”

The golden arms ran after Adam, ready to lock him back in the cage.

Menax was ready to smirk, he was sure it was inevitable, but…

“Agh?”

At the last moment, he saw the girl appear next to Adam, then the golden arms and his world were split in two.
