Chapter 1434: Golden Light (Part 2)
About an hour ago, when Adam Vinter left Izardo, a young man with black hair and deep golden eyes and a calm look was drinking coffee in one of the coffee shops.

At that moment, his eyes turned as he saw through the window a multitude of shadows leaving the city, heading west, straight towards the line of hills.

The hunters moved forward, each of them wanting to catch up with Adam Vinter and kill him to become stronger. That was the sole goal of each of them.

“Agh…” Menax sighed before taking a sip of the brown drink.

A waitress passing by noticed his slightly sad face:

“Sir, is something wrong? Maybe you don’t like your drink?”

Menax shook his head.

“No, this is excellent coffee. Quite expensive, but definitely worth it. Just…” Menax lifted the cup as his hands trembled slightly. “I’m afraid, afraid that this might be my last cup of coffee.”

“Hahaha, don’t worry about it.” The girl laughed briefly, waving her hand. “You’re right, our prices are high, but the quality of our food and drinks is top-notch. We don’t plan on closing anytime soon, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to come back. Come here tomorrow morning!”

The girl left, leaving Menax alone with his half-empty cup of coffee.

“Tomorrow, right? Unfortunately, for one of us, tomorrow will never come…”

Then, Menax spent a few minutes in silence, finished his coffee, and went out into the streets of the city.

Adam had already reached the canyon, and the hunters were behind him, pursuing him as their chance for a new life.

Strangely enough, Menax was in the same situation. However, unlike all the other hunters, he had no problem overcoming his barriers. After all, he was a stellar monster, and the strongest believed that he had every chance of becoming a Lord, no, that it would happen in the near future.

But for Menax, that wasn’t enough.

‘The stellar monster, huh? What kind of stupid title is that? What does it even mean?’ Menax shook his head as he slowly walked down the road leading to the western gate. ‘The phantoms, there are few of them, every phantom that can reach the Second Rank deserves your special attention, but monsters?’

He sighed.

‘There are many more of us. Even though the names are the same, there is a huge gap in importance between a stellar phantom and a stellar monster. That’s not enough.’

Menax didn’t want to be one of the best, especially when it was among monsters that were much more numerous than humans and whose evolution was easier.

But… What if he defeated a real stellar phantom? Someone that every powerful monster knew about, and even powers like the Befallen Crown saw as a threat?

‘Well, that would change a lot.’ Menax looked ahead as his eyes grew deeper. ‘Quite a few monsters can become a Lord, but what next? How can I be sure that I won’t become just another insignificant Baron?’

In fact, Menax followed a simple rule: if you wanted to become stronger, you had to fight against the strong, defeat them, and break your limits.

Soon, Menax found himself on the line of hills as Adam and a dozen hunters were already very far away. Even to his vision, they were nothing more than black dots moving among the canyon in the moonlight.

“None of them are capable of harming him, they don’t stand a chance, though they don’t even realize it. They are no different from Erada and that other Hybrid girl. Adam Vinter, he knows this, but… he doesn’t know about me.”

Step.

Menax stepped forward as a golden flame covered his legs. His pupils narrowed as the entire path in front of him turned into a light route leading him straight to the hunters already fighting each other.

With a speed surpassing every hunter and Adam, Menax raced through the canyon, approaching his target.

The young man who had just killed two hunters with chains and ice was his first target:

“Hmm? Someone wants to fight me?!” The young man turned around, ready to fight and kill anyone in his path.

But…

Thrust!

The golden blade swept across his neck, severing his head from his body. Blood spurted upward in a powerful stream as Menax rushed past the young man, paying no attention to him.

Several other hunters who were fighting at that moment noticed that a stranger had appeared among them.

“He…” The old man with the long beard narrowed his eyes, thinking he had seen Menax somewhere before. “Wait, could it be…”

Suddenly, Menax disappeared.

In the next moment, a bloodied palm covered in golden energy entered the old man’s chest, squeezing his heart tightly.

Without mercy, Menax clenched his fist, exploding the old man’s heart and ending his very long, but meaningless life.

The other hunters exchanged glances. They were still alive and had already killed some, so their keen instincts told them that Menax was the main threat.

In a heartbeat, several of them attacked Menax, realizing that he had to be eliminated right now or they would die before they could fight Adam Vinter.

Unfortunately for them, Menax understood this well. He had joined the hunt only now because he knew he could handle each of them if necessary.

Adam sensed that battles were taking place behind him, but his goal was to increase the distance, so only when Menax was the only hunter left did he see him for the first time.

Despite the fact that Menax had previously fought several hunters, the only injuries he sustained were a few scratches. Adam noticed this, but he didn’t know under what circumstances it had happened.

Well, either way, none of the hunters could compare to Menax. He was a monster on another level, a truly talented and cruel one, the way monsters were supposed to be in the first place.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The golden palms trembled as they tried to crush Adam, who was inside the cage.

‘Come on, Adam Vinter.’ Menax’s gaze darkened. ‘Show me that I didn’t come all this way for nothing.’
