Chapter 1432: The Hunt (Part 2)
Ten minutes had passed since Adam left Izardo. For a Phantom of his level, that was enough time to cover several dozen kilometers. He did so with ease, putting all his strength into his legs.

As a result, after just five minutes, Adam reached a line of hills from which he could see both the canyon in the distance and several dark spots, shadows, moving at high speed in the same direction as him.

“I see. At least a dozen. Well, let’s see which of you can make it to the end, because I’m going to break one of Xander’s rules!” Adam exclaimed as his aura grew several times larger.

Xander had advised him not to show that he knew he was being followed. But Adam had a different opinion on the matter.

“Everyone understands what’s going on here, so why should I deprive myself of the opportunity to move even faster than I am now?”

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

With a tremor, the Dual Demon Sword appeared in his hand as black lightning wings unfolded on his back with a majestic sweep.

The shadows paused for a moment. They did not expect Adam to act this way. This could not help but bring a broad grin to his face.

“Go ahead, if you hesitate, you’ll never catch up with me!”

The dark wings began to move with a deafening clap like a thunder strike, and Adam disappeared.

From Izardo to the line of hills, he simply ran, and had to continue doing so while pretending he didn’t know he was being pursued.

This tactic had obvious advantages, as the element of surprise would be on his side, but Adam would have to limit his speed because if he did anything suspicious, the hunters would immediately understand his plan.

Adam decided to do things differently.

Whooooooooooosh.

Now, crossing hundreds of meters in seconds and cutting through the sky with his wings, Adam put the hunters in a difficult situation.

They knew he knew about them, but so what?

Now, they had to speed up, do everything to catch up with Adam, but Adam’s cunning plan was different.

Silvana understood his actions well.

“Now, the total duration of the hunt has become much shorter…” She muttered as she sat in her office drinking a cup of hot coffee. “His speed has at least doubled, which means he’ll reach the ‘safe zone’ faster.”

A few moments later, a sly, satisfied smile appeared on her face as she took a sip of coffee.

“Gradually, this will cause the hunters to panic. They will realize that Adam will soon be out of their reach, which means that if they want to kill him, they must first get rid of their competitors. Good, very good.”

Basically, instead of being prey, Adam became the leader of their deadly game. All he had to do was move forward at his maximum speed, and with every minute, with every kilometer, the panic among the hunters would increase.

They couldn’t attack Adam together and therefore divide his energy among themselves. They didn’t trust each other, and it would be useless. They hunted him down to get all his energy and break his barrier.

Any other outcome was unacceptable to them.

Thus, half an hour later, as Adam flew through the Grand Canyon, one of the hunters lost his nerve.

TREMBLE!

A deafening explosion rang out behind him, causing Adam to turn over his shoulder. He smirked as his eyes reflected the two shadows attacking each other.

The others took advantage of this opportunity and sped up to close the distance, but the start had been made.

“Tsk. Idiots!”

One of the hunters frowned as the wind enveloped his legs, allowing him to run through the air at the same speed as Adam. Each hunter had some way to temporarily increase their speed.

“That’s exactly what he wanted!”

This hunter was one of the few who had a partner, a woman with a cold expression.

“It doesn’t matter. Maybe it’s even good for us because they decided to get rid of each other, making our task easier. We just have to keep following him and—!”

Suddenly, her eyes widened as a dark chain tightened around her neck. Cold vapor rose upward.

The man reacted quickly, reaching out his hand to help, but he noticed too late that his fingertips were already frozen and a thin layer of ice was running up his arm.

“W-What…?”

Like a silent assassin, one of the hunters appeared behind him, plunging his palm straight into the man’s chest, easily piercing his heart. The blood didn’t even have time to spill out, the frost immediately turning it into crimson ice.

“You’re just trash…” His hoarse voice rang out as he tightened his grip on the chains, choking the woman. “How could you even think you had a chance against Adam Vinter? Tsk, he would have cut you to pieces in the first seconds of the fight. You’re just wasting my time!!!”

BLAST!

With a bright flash covering the canyon, a frosty explosion rang out as ice crystals covered part of the ground while two hunters, a man and a woman, remained forever inside them with empty eyes full of fear of death.

Even though two of them had just died, it did not affect the other hunters. They knew that something like this would happen sooner or later, but Adam’s actions had accelerated the process.

Once Adam reached the edge of the canyon, even during the battle, he would be able to reach the edge of the Tarnished Lands, which would be a dead zone for the hunters, as Frida would simply destroy them with a wave of her hand.

This meant that the hunters had to attack Adam either when he was in the middle of the canyon or at its very end.

“Alright, it looks like this is going to be harder than I thought…” The old man with a long beard frowned as he moved on a cloud.

Several hunters near him mentally agreed with him. In order to kill Adam Vinter, they would first have to kill each other.

Well, it was a job best suited to people like them: experienced killers who desperately wanted to become stronger.
