Chapter 491: Ch-491: Auction (1)
“Tsk, tsk,” Wang Ming clicked his tongue as he saw the guards punch Zhang Liang in the face and knock him out cold.
“Sleepwalking my ass,” one of the guards said in an annoyed voice as he looked at the unconscious body on the ground.
“Hmm?” The leader of the group suddenly frowned and looked around the room.
“Leader, what are you looking for?” one of the guards asked when he saw the leader scanning the room as if he were searching for something.
“Nothing. I just felt someone was watching us,” the leader said with a frown, which caused Wang Ming to raise an eyebrow.
‘ Sharp intuition,’ Wang Ming thought, surprised by the man’s senses. He was sure no one there could find him while he was hiding, and he was right.
“What? Leader, do you think someone else is here?” The guards looked alarmed and quickly used their spiritual senses and various techniques to search the room, but found no presence of anyone hiding and spying on them.
“Maybe it’s just my imagination,” the leader said in a whisper. He then shook his head and turned back to look at Zhang Liang and the corpse.
“Grab him, and also grab the corpse and dispose of it,” the leader barked his orders, and the guards nodded. One of the guards used a fire technique and burned Mei Mei’s corpse to cinders, while another grabbed Zhang Liang and carried him like a sack.
“Leader, are we going to toss him into the prison? And can we beat him up if he causes trouble?” one of the guards asked excitedly, as they rarely got a chance to put a member of the Eight Great Families in prison, much less beat one.
The leader’s lips twitched when he saw this and said, “Yes, you can beat him up.”
“Please resist,” the guards thought as they looked at the unconscious Zhang Liang with glinting eyes, while the unconscious Zhang Liang felt a chill run down his spine and shivered.
“I will go and inform the Zhang Clan,” the leader said with a look of amusement on his face. “Hehe, those Zhang Clan bastards have been causing too many problems recently, and I couldn’t even scold them because they didn’t break any rules—but now…”
The leader could already imagine the scene of the Zhang Clan leader being speechless as he listened to the reprimand. Of course, if it were any other clan leader, he would restrain himself, but the Zhang Clan had internal strife going on. He was sure that even if he did nothing, the opposing faction within the clan would not let the current patriarch escape unscathed.
After they left, Wang Ming deactivated his technique, and his figure appeared in the room.
“Hmm, there are still three days until the auction starts. I’ll just explore the city; maybe I’ll visit the main regions of all the Eight Great Families,” Wang Ming mumbled and nodded his head as he activated his technique and left the place.

Three Days Later
Jiang Family Estate, Gold City
The news of the five-star auction had already spread not only within Golden Leaf City but also outside it, and many people who heard the news had rushed toward Golden Leaf City within the last three days. A higher number of guards had been deployed across the city to prevent any incidents.
Wang Ming arrived at Golden Leaf City, and his eyes narrowed as he felt several powerful auras. He thought, “There are a few new Golden Core Realm cultivators as well.”
Wang Ming walked toward the auction house and noticed that many people were already wearing masks. He raised an eyebrow and thought, “As expected, showing your true identity without a background at this auction is inviting calamity.”
Wang Ming also brought out his mask and put it on his face. Even though he was not afraid of trouble, he still wore it. He noticed that the only ones who did not wear masks were people from the top families and disciples from sects who had also come after hearing the announcement. They had elders and guards acting as their bodyguards.
Honestly, he had received a call from Jiang Hong, who informed him about the auction early and said that if he wanted, he could use the name of the Yang-Yin Sect. He also mentioned that Feng Mei would be sent as a representative from the sect.
“Now where is she?” Wang Ming mumbled while looking for his partner, and he also kept an eye out for the Tang sisters, whom he was supposed to meet.
After walking for half an hour, he finally spotted Feng Mei, who, to his surprise, was chatting with Tang Ning and Tang Nian. He walked toward the trio and heard them talking.
“Feng Mei, long time no see. I heard you got yourself a partner,” Tang Ning said as she embraced Feng Mei. They knew each other as they were both prized disciples of their respective sects and had met a couple of times, becoming friends.
“Oh, how did you know?” Feng Mei returned the embrace and asked in surprise.
“We have our own sources,” Tang Ning said with a wink.
“Sources? You mean spies,” Feng Mei thought. Every sect had a few spies in other sects, and she assumed that was the reason—until Tang Nian told the real reason.
“Heh, it was actually your mother who told the sect master,” Tang Nian said in a teasing voice.
Feng Mei heard this, and veins popped out on her forehead as she guessed her mother must have exaggerated many things to embarrass her. Not wanting to talk about it, she diverted the topic.
“Hey, do you know who caused trouble a few days ago in the capital? I heard that person was from the Eight Great Families,” Feng Mei asked with curiosity.
“Yeah, it’s true, but the news has been suppressed, and we also don’t know,” Tang Nian said with frustration.
Step. Step.
They looked to the side and forward when they saw a masked man approaching them.
