Chapter 1262: A Small Gathering!
At one of the many cafeterias within the vast territory of the Four God Nation, a particular hall stood out among the rest. It was a grand, open-air place built atop a floating terrace woven from ancient whitewood branches, suspended high above the capital.
Soft spiritual lights drifted lazily around the ceiling like slow-moving fireflies, illuminating the room with a gentle glow. Voices murmured, laughter rose occasionally, and the scent of warm dishes blended with the fresh breeze blowing from the east.
This hall was not a place for ordinary disciples. Every table was occupied by prodigies whose names carried weight across the Middle Domain. Young men and women who had returned from the Heavenly Lord Secret Domain, individuals who had clawed their way to the peak of Divine Rank, and geniuses who could tilt the fate of entire regions with a single decision were gathered here casually, enjoying a rare moment of peace.
Some wore the robes of the Azure Dragon God Nation, radiating a cold pride. Others bore the fiery patterns of the Phoenix God Nation. A few were wrapped in the icy aura of the White Tiger God Nation. These were the elite, the future pillars of Acaris, and their combined presence made the entire space hum with restrained pressure.
And among them all, seated at a table near the open terrace, was Max.
His presence mingled with the others yet still stood apart. The young Divine Rank geniuses sitting around him were strong, confident, and proud, but every few minutes one of them would glance toward Max with a mixture of respect and silent disbelief. It was difficult not to. The gap between them had widened so dramatically in such a short time that even those who once saw themselves as his rivals now struggled to comprehend the extent of his growth.
A few tables away, two prodigies whispered animatedly.
“I still can’t believe it. Did you see that attack in the Lower Domain?” one said, leaning forward with excitement. “He shattered Mark’s hand attack as if it was nothing.”
“It didn’t even seem real,” the other replied. “And he did it with a single sword strike. A peak Divine Rank genius cannot do that… not even with their life on the line.”
Similar whispers traveled from group to group. Some spoke of Max’s feats in the Heavenly Lord Secret Domain. Others marveled at how calmly he faced Mark. Many simply stared when they thought he wasn’t looking, their eyes reflecting awe.
Max took it all in with a calmness he did not have months ago. He sat casually with his arms resting on the table, a cup of warm tea before him. Alice sat to his left with a faint, playful smile on her lips, and Lenavira sat to his right, her eyes bright with quiet excitement as she listened to a story from a young genius of the Phoenix God Nation.
Lyra was also among them too but she kept her distances from Max unlike Lenavira and Alice.
Across from him sat eight other Divine Rank prodigies—all of whom would follow Max into Nullaria soon. They were laughing, chatting, and trading playful remarks, but beneath their relaxed expressions was a deep undercurrent of anticipation. The idea of stepping into the domain of the demons thrilled them, terrified them, and challenged them all at once.
Max watched them with a faint smile. He could feel the eagerness in their hearts. These young elites had been caged too long, forced to train, hide, or survive under the shadow of demons and ascendants. Now they finally had a chance to strike back—to prove themselves on a battlefield far removed from the rules of Acaris.
The cafeteria buzzed with conversations, plates clinking, and the soft hum of energy. Yet despite the vibrant atmosphere, it was clear that the brightest presence in the entire hall was Max. His calm posture, gentle interactions, and occasional smiles set him apart in a way that no amount of power alone could.
He wasn’t simply one among them.
He was the one they looked toward without realising it.
The hall belonged to the geniuses of Acaris, but the moment Max walked in, the tone of the entire place changed. Some stood straighter, some lowered their voices, and some felt an unfamiliar pressure settle on their shoulders.
He was their leader now, whether they acknowledged it aloud or not.
And in that floating cafeteria, surrounded by the most talented youths of the Middle Domain, Max quietly prepared himself—and them—for the journey into Nullaria that would begin very soon.
The murmurs in the cafeteria faded into stillness the moment Max’s voice rose above the crowd. Even the drifting spiritual lights seemed to pause mid-air as every Divine Rank genius turned his way. There was no arrogance in their silence, only a deep, instinctive acknowledgment that the person speaking held more weight than any elder or ruler they had ever obeyed.
Max stood from his seat, letting his gaze sweep slowly across the hall. He could feel each pulse of power, every surge of excitement, the hidden nervousness behind a few eyes, and the flickers of pride in others.
These were the strongest young beings Acaris had produced in several generations. They were proud, sharp, and capable, but at the end of the day they were still young. Youth brought courage and passion, but it also brought impatience, impulsiveness, and a tendency to underestimate the enemy.
He had to shape them.
He had to make them function like a blade, not a group of scattered sparks.
“Everyone,” Max called once more, his voice firm yet calm. The air thickened with focus as the entire hall shifted their attention to him.
Max continued, “I have selected a few leaders among you who will act as your pillars once we enter Nullaria. You will follow their commands without hesitation and without question.”
His finger rose as he listed the chosen ones.
“Victor. Arthur. Seraphina. Chris. Christine. Daniel. Michael.”
Each named individual straightened in their seat. Some wore expressions of calm acceptance, others of fierce determination, and a few were visibly honored that Max placed his trust in them.
