Chapter 732: Danger When Preparing for the Auction
“You should be careful, handsome.” Mu La’s husky voice gently tickled Asmodeus’s ear as she leaned close, picking up his emptied plate. The breakfast and meals in Hansberg shared a mixed Eastern and Western style, focusing on healthiness and fresh taste.

‘Hm?’

When he glanced to the side, he watched the sway of her plump, round buttocks already halfway to the kitchen—the past few days after arriving in Hansberg had dealt with many issues. He asked Lun for help with several issues related to the auction, and now, there weren’t many days to wait.

Thankfully, neither Logan nor Thorim caused any trouble.

“Dad?”

“What’s wrong?”

Asmodeus turned back, finding Vivi’s big eyes staring at him in concern. After he told her about staying in Lumeria for a few nights, she became more clingy and nervous.

‘Her frowning face is also cute, though.’

“…Mm…that is…” Her eyes darted around as she chopped into her boiled egg, watching as the yolk oozed down the side and stained the cup.

‘She probably wants to ask if she can stay.’

He wasn’t stupid.

Ever since they started bonding, Vivi became more dependent on him than Nerim, clinging to him as he carried and brought her everywhere in the city. That didn’t mean he would put her in danger. He could probably protect her without issue, but should an arbiter or one of the god-touched appear, it’d be disastrous.

Shifting closer, he ruffled her hair and spooned part of the egg into her mouth.

Vivi’s big eyes looked watery and dazed as her little mouth swallowed the egg and chewed happily.

“If you do this for me now, then how about we go on an adventure, just you and me, after you come back.”

She tilted her head, looking at his handsome features from upside down, his sharp chin, and high-bridged nose. This man was someone she’d not known for long, but in the two months Vivi spent with him, he’d taken care of everything and never once let her suffer.

Food, enjoyment, exercise and even training. All of it! He gave her so much freedom, even saving her friends from the slave traders.

Her little lips curled inward, pouting at Asmodeus.

“You’re unfair, Dad. How can I say no?”

“I know, to be honest… I am a terrible father, right?”

Asmodeus wasn’t talking just about Vivi, but for his other children; the sheer lack of time he gave to them couldn’t match that of a normal father. Even if he spent every hour of the day with them, several wouldn’t get long.

‘Thanks to my Time Domain, I can manage a little.’

However, this truth didn’t vanish.

“I’ll definitely make it up to you.”

“Nn.”

He couldn’t bring himself to lie to her or make excuses, and continued stroking her silky hair, while noticing Nerim’s curious gaze.

“You alright now?”

“Eh? Well…” Nerim’s cheeks flushed red as she spent the past few days rolling in bed, struggling to move. She’d started to recover the morning after, but the pair couldn’t help themselves and once again their passion overflowed. “It’s your fault.” She muttered in a soft voice, while gently baling her fists and hitting him.

‘She’s still shy, haha.’

Her cotton fists couldn’t inflict damage, and so he let her complain.

Whether Vivi or Nerim, his moon started to recover; in two days, he’d enter the auction and do everything possible to save his brother and people.

“Oi, lass. We need more ale!” A dwarf with dark skin complained to Mu La, hitting the wooden table with his hands.

“She’s quite the juicy woman, despite being a human.”

“Avin, you’re a damn pervert. Keep it in your pants, we have a mission.”

The trio sat on a table on the left side of the establishment, just two over from Asmodeus.

He watched the three dwarves, noticing their equipment. It looked old and tattered from a distance, but the moment he activated his divine eyes, Asmodeus found the trick and quickly narrowed his eyes.

‘Enchantments to make them look dirty, and lower rank?’

They were here for trouble.

Asmodeus slowly gripped Vivi’s hips and slid her slowly towards Nerim, and poured magic onto the surface of her clothes.

-Sonar

-Ranged Magic Defence

-Automatic Blink

-Greater Defence Aura

-Greater Speed Aura

-Stone Skin

All the circles rapidly completed thanks to his automatic magic talent; the low-level spells gathered and fused to form higher tiers of defensive magic.

Sonar would allow Vivi to find him, Logan, or Nerim should anything happen in the next 24 hours. The defence, seed and skin buffs would improve her abilities twofold for the same duration, while the ranged magic defence spell could block all ranged attacks on Vivi from existences below Rank Two.

‘That’s good.’

With the snap of his fingers, the same spells slipped across to Nerim’s body.

Asmodeus grit his teeth, feeling his demonic energy depleting rapidly because of the level, intensity and power of each spell.

“Asmodeus?” Nerim’s soft voice sounded as she looked at him with a tilted head.

Of course, unlike Vivi, who didn’t understand magic well. Nerim would surely have felt the sudden increase in magic around her body, and that it was Asmodeus casting them.

He didn’t make it obvious and instead flicked his eyes towards the three at the table, mouthing. “Enchanted Armour and weapons.”

Nerim’s mouth opened, and before her eyes shone with a faint golden light; this was an inferior version of Asmodeus’ Divine Eye ability. She gained this after their fun the night before.

She suddenly began to groan and complained about feeling “full”, and that’s when she snapped the limits and reached Rank One.

In return, she mouthed. “Leave Vivi to me, honey.”

With Vivi and Nerim protected thoroughly, Asmodeus closed his eyes, then listened to the conversation of the dwarves, trying to understand anything, even the tiniest guess.

“Boss, what did that rich client say?”

“You should call him Master Grundig. He’s the future owner of the Bronze Blade Merchant group. He mentioned that we need to keep an eye on the group that met with the Young Miss Lun.”

The dark-skinned male might have occluded Mu La, but when she left, and they spoke together, Asmodeus found this man was shrewd and much more intelligent than he showed the outside world.6

“I’ll follow you, boss.”

The two others sat beside the leader seemed strong, with one of them being quite tall for a dwarf; he resembled Thorim in size and build.

‘Maybe a half-dwarf?’

Asmodeus kept his posture relaxed, one arm resting against the back of the chair, but his focus sharpened into a thin line.

“Keep an eye on,” he repeated internally. “That’s all?”

The leader took a slow drink, wiping foam from his beard. “Aye. No killing. No noise. Just watch. The master needs to know their goals and reason for approaching Miss Lun.”

“Sounds boring,” the taller dwarf grumbled. “Could at least scare ’em a little.”

“Don’t get stupid,” the leader snapped. “This is Hansberg. You start trouble here, and the city eats you alive.”

Asmodeus let out a long sigh, his focus fading as the trio began to argue, once again showing their fake personas. It wasn’t a lie, though. If you messed around in Hansberg, the guards, mercenaries, and desert tribes would all become your enemies. That was a fate worse than death for most who lived on this continent.

He’d finished investigating, at least for now.

He was about to disengage when the tavern door creaked open again.

With the familiar jingle, a sudden hush spread through the room.

Mu La stepped out from the kitchen, wiping her hands on her apron. Beside her stood a young girl, no older than early teens, with long dark hair tied neatly behind her back. She clutched a wooden tray a little too tightly, eyes downcast.

“Lil’Ma,” Mu La said gently. “Just bring it to table seven and come straight back.”

“Yes, Mother,” the girl replied softly.

Ma lifted the tray with both hands and took a small step forward, eyes fixed on the floor. She slid through the air. Almost appearing afraid of taking up space, weaving between tables with quiet, rehearsed steps as if she’d done this in her head a thousand times, but her body still lacked the expertise to catch up.

Though she didn’t make it far.

The dwarf leaned back in his chair, just enough to block her path. “Careful there, little miss,” he said with a crooked grin. “Nearly spilt our drink.”

“I-I’m sorry,” Ma whispered, trying to step around him.

Suddenly, a rough hand caught her wrist, yanking her closer. It wasn’t too rough, but the small pale flesh quickly turned red as it stopped her in place.

“L-Let go!”

Ma’s cry echoed like a glass smashing on the floor.

“Relax,” another dwarf chuckled. “We’re just talking.”

Her big eyes glanced around, wet and brimming with tears as the tray in her hands shook. Standing not far away, Mu La’s heart pounded as she hurriedly dropped the glass in her hand and stepped to save her daughter.

Asmodeus’s gaze hardened, the warmth draining from his eyes in an instant.

Unbeknownst to the people around him, he deployed his time domain at the maximum dilation amount, preparing to expand it when he made his move.

The three dwarves remained in their playful state, but with the leader holding Ma’s wrist, the entire inn transformed into a cold, dangerous zone.

“E-Esteemed guests, please could you let go. If you need a drinking partner, I am willing to join you.” Mu La’s voice lacked its usual charm and sensual tone; she lowered her position while creeping forward a step at a time.

The dark-skinned dwarf’s lips curled upward, and just as he was about to speak.

Asmodeus pushed off the floor and rushed at them with a golden flash of light enclosing the entire inn.

“Move!”
