698: Funf – The Arbiter of Seduction and Illusion 698: Funf – The Arbiter of Seduction and Illusion Vwoom!

The crimson beam destroyed everything in sight, the light so blinding that Asmodeus closed his eyes and turned away. A howl echoed as the beam dissipated, along with the crumble of stone and hiss of water leaving the pipes as steam.

A giant canyon existed where the hideout used to exist, a deep crater where the arbiter stood a few moments ago, at least 20 metres in size.

‘I tried to hold back…’ “Is it over?”  He mumbled the forbidden phrase, shaking his head to remove the lingering pink flickers of aura that floated around his head.

The power of Seduction and Illusion was a terrifying power to face alone.  Asmodeus closed his eyes, spreading the golden dome as far as possible, the pretty threads now like tiny snakes slithering through the ruins.

All he wanted was something positive.

Was she dead?

He just hoped it was over…

“Nothing?” ‘There’s not even a rat remaining.’  The power of his divine aura surpassed all sense of reason when mixed with both demonic and abyssal energy.

‘Amazing.’ If compared to his Sanguine Devastation against the first Arbiters, this might be twice as powerful.

But whenever he stirred the abyssal aura inside him…

something changed.

It clung to his organs, bones and muscles.

“Oh?” His tendrils wrapped around something small, cracked, and pure white in the ruins.

He stepped forward and transformed them into hands to drag the huge shard from the debris.

“Is this an arbiters’ divine shard?” He glanced at it with golden eyes, the size almost double a normal shard and the purity of the divine aura even higher than his.

‘But where is the core?’ All divine beings had a core.

If this Arbiter really lost to him and died, then she would have left her core.

But because he couldn’t find one, it led him to a single thought.

‘Was that not her true body!?’ He turned to the west with a sharp glare because he felt a sudden flicker of divine pressure.

“Damn it!

That wasn’t her true self!?”  ‘How strong are the Arbiters…

can we really defeat them?’  Asmodeus wasn’t alone anymore; he couldn’t sacrifice his life or fight without thinking of his wives, people, children or friends.

He closed his eyes, letting the divine shard sink into his body, like a melting mint…  Immediately, the abyssal energy lingering in his muscles, organs and bones flooded the fresh shard as it fused with the previous one.

However, this gave Asmodeus one clue.

‘Even the Arbiter’s aren’t immune to the Abyssal energy?’ *** Funf POV *** A swirl of pink mist rose from the broken ruins, which twisted to form a pristine naked figure that grew from the darkness.

Funf’s body formed two white horns, bright red hair, and luminous golden eyes, which glared down at the massive crater that destroyed her barrier.

“To think that he could break free…” Funf shook her head and let out a long breath; the pink mist from her moist lips created a frilly dress and outfit.

“No, the fact that his mind didn’t collapse the moment I showed him his desires is terrifying.” ‘No wonder Ein looked so strange.’  She watched him in silence, the regeneration successful, but her chest still carried two deep wounds from his attack.

“I’ve never met such an interesting guy before, a mortal resisted my temptation and even made me cum, how amusing.” Bzzzt!

With the swish of her fingertip, she cut the essence of reality, and a huge blue portal formed with a brilliant palace inside the churning surface.

‘Since he could handle half my power, maybe next time he’ll be able to take it all?’  Her moist lips twisted into a smile as she took one glance at Asmodeus and bit her lips with a strange expression.

“Should I kill those bitches who he thought about?” An unfamiliar emotion and twisted sense of desire lingered for she was the weakest Arbiter, and was yet to cull all her feelings.

That would allow her to reach Rank Three completely; right now, she barely cracked the surface.

And his appearance would set her back a decade.

“Well~ Let’s see what happens.” With that, she jumped into the portal and left the northern region of the mainland.  *** Meanwhile, Nerim sat quietly in the shared room waiting for Ryuji to return.

Once he left, she soon woke up and realised what had happened.

Vivi curled on her lap, sleeping in a ball.

“Such a cute child.” She brushed Vivi’s horns, tracing the chips, damage and parts that cracked near her temple.

‘Will he come back soon?’ Not too long ago, she heard a loud explosion.

Then the entire city became a mess, and people screamed and shouted in the streets.

People fled the closed gates like mice, and for Nerim, who could see perfectly in the dark, she could swear people appeared out of nowhere suddenly after the noise.

Knock, knock!

Someone hit the door with slow, heavy knocks.

“Is it him!?” Nerim placed Vivi down and rushed to the door before taking a moment to gather herself with a slow breath.

“W-Who is it?” ‘What do I do if it’s the people after Vivi?’ Her mind raced as nobody answered for a moment, but they didn’t hit the door either.

“Hello?” “Ack…

sorry lass, I didn’t think you’d be in the lad’s room so late.

It’s me, Logan.

I’m just checking on everything after that blasted noise like dragon’s breath.” ‘Oh, it’s Logan.’ “Ah, it’s okay.”  Clack!

With a simple sweet, she opened the lock and stepped back, despite knowing it was Logan, her hand still rested on her spear shaft, ready to attack.  When the door opened, the short old man’s ugly mug appeared.

“Wha?” Nerim’s lips curved into a grin upon seeing the old man dressed in his pyjamas, with a little cap flopping to the side.  “!!!”  ‘He looks more like a child than Vivi!’ She tried to hold in her laugh because Logan’s image suddenly crumbled in her mind.

He reminded her of the old men she used to train with in the little village near her homeland.

They claimed to be seasoned warriors, but always lost to their wives and the cold.  “Somethin’ wrong Lass?” Logan tilted his head while stroking his beard.

“O-Oh, nothing!

I just wondered where Thorim might be?” “Ack, that kid could sleep through the end times.

If he’s in danger what will I do, Gyhaha.” Logan looked around the room.

Maybe because he lacked dark vision or that Vivi was tiny, he missed her, but showed a grimace.

“W-Well, where’s our fine lad?” He paused.

“D-Don’t tell me he’s…

got into trouble again?” “What!?

No way!”  Nerim bit her tongue so she remained silent, knowing she might let something slip because of how much they trusted Logan.

“I see, well.

I hope he comes back soon, let’s…

lets meet at breakfast, nice an’ early.” “Of course.”  Logan left soon after, worried about the trouble stirring in the city.

He warned Nerim once more before she closed and bolted the door shut.  Nerim stepped towards the window, the faint musty scent from the floorboards and earlier rain filling her chest as she leaned against the window, and began to hum.

The tune was soft and emotional, as if painting a melodic tale.

‘I feel so at ease when singing…

like everything bad disappears.’  A watery mist surrounded Nerim’s body as her humming became a gentle song.

The fog changed the room’s atmosphere, which became cosy and warm.

A vision appeared in the air around her.

It showed a young knight saving the cursed princess, only to be caught in the dragon’s trap.

Tap.

‘I hope he’s safe.’ Behind her, the window shifted, but her eyes remained closed.

Focused on the song.  Suddenly, a pair of arms grabbed Nerim.

“Kyaaaaaaaa!?” Nerim twisted her delicate hips, avoiding his grab, her instinct snapping her out of the song faster than thought, but the hand that gripped her waist stayed firm.

Her knee shot up, ready to break ribs, until a familiar scent hit her nose.

A scent of blood, perfume and…

something strange.

“Ryuji!?” Her strike stopped in midair, his hand wrapped around her knee an inch from his stomach.

He held her closer and leaned against her back, his eyes closed, while taking a shallow breath.  “Sorry, I’m a little late.” His voice was raspy, almost strained.

“Did I scare you?” He smiled.

She lost her panic and settled into his embrace, their relationship messy and strange.

Yet she didn’t mind this closeness after the explosion and danger of taking Vivi.

It was something Nerim didn’t mind.

No.

She liked it quite a lot.

Her panic became relief so sharp it made her knees weak.

She clutched Ryuji’s cloak, feeling the heat of his skin through torn fabric.

“Idiot… don’t do that,” she whispered.

Then her eyes widened as something pierced her ears and hurt.

She snapped to look at his face while tracing the beautiful blue gemstones.

“T-This, what is it!?” “A gift?” “W-W-What occasion!?” Ryuji just glanced down at her.

There was something different about him.

Nerim couldn’t quite put her finger on it as he smiled faintly under the moon.  “Because you looked pretty tonight?” ‘This idiot is lying!’ “Liar…” However, despite complaining, she rubbed the surface of the gemstones and twisted her lips into a sweet smile.

“You shouldn’t have.”
