Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off - Chapter 92
92: Chapter 92: Not a Dream?
92: Chapter 92: Not a Dream?
Su Qinglan had no idea what was going on anymore.
First, Xuyu had stopped replying to her, and now her head was spinning from those strange, vivid dreams.
What the heck was happening to her?
She rubbed her forehead, still dazed.
But before she could think more, a sharp hiss echoed behind her.
Her whole body went stiff.
Slowly, she turned her head…
only to let out a startled gasp.
A massive tail suddenly wrapped around her waist and lifted her right off the ground.
“Ah…!” she cried out, her hands struggling to move, but the snake’s tail had already coiled tighter.
It squeezed around her chest and arms, pinning them completely.
She couldn’t even wiggle her fingers.
When she looked up, a huge snake head hovered in front of her, its tongue flicking out as it hissed loudly.
Her blood ran cold.
Her face turned pale as a sheet.
“Oh no… I’ve woken up the landlord,” she thought, her heart hammering in her chest.
There was no mistake…
this was the same snake she had fallen on before.
Xuyu had clearly said there were no other beasts nearby, so it had to be the same one!
But how was that possible?
Why was it smaller now?
And how did it get inside the cave?
Didn’t that bastard Xuyu say this place was safe?!
She tried calling out to him in her mind, but there was no answer.
Not even a single beep from that useless system.
She wanted to strangle him, shake him out of her head, and toss him straight in front of the snake while she ran for her life!
But she couldn’t move.
She could only scream inside her head while trembling in real life.
The snake stared at her with narrowed, furious eyes.
Its tongue flicked in and out, hissing louder.
Su Qinglan gulped hard and tried to smile weakly.
“D-Don’t eat me,” she stammered, hugging herself.
“I…
I’m not tasty… really, I’m stringy and full of… uh… bad cholesterol.” The snake hissed again, louder this time, and the coils around her body tightened.
She could barely breathe.
Her heart pounded wildly.
She didn’t trust Xuyu’s so-called protective barrier one bit.
Would it even work if the snake decided to eat her?
She seriously doubted it.
She knew she couldn’t fight this creature…
just standing near it was enough to feel the crushing power in its aura.
This was no ordinary beast.
So she froze, hoping the snake might decide she wasn’t worth the trouble.
But it seemed the snake had heard her and decided to act opposite to her wish.
The snake’s massive mouth opened right in front of her.
Su Qinglan’s eyes widened in horror.
She wanted to scream, but no sound came out.
Out of sheer fear, two fluffy fox ears suddenly popped up on her head, and a fluffy tail appeared behind her.
She didn’t even notice it; she was too focused on the snake’s gaping jaws moving closer and closer.
Her gaze locked with its glowing emerald green eyes.
Her body trembled harder.
And then…
just as she thought it was the end, she felt the pressure around her waist ease.
The snake’s grip loosened.
She blinked, confused, as she watched the snake’s massive body begin to glow faintly.
Scales shifted, bones cracked and reshaped, and right before her stunned eyes, the enormous serpent transformed…
its form shrinking and reshaping into that of a tall, striking beast man standing before her.
Su Qinglan’s jaw dropped.
“What… the hell…” she whispered, staring at the man who now stood where the snake had been.
Standing before her was a man so breathtakingly handsome that Su Qinglan’s poor fox eyes watered just looking at him.
Su Qinglan swallowed hard, her tail fluffing up in panic.
“I… I…” Her voice cracked.
Okay, new problem… the snake is hot.
He was half human, half snake.
His broad shoulders gleamed under the dim light, the water tracing down the smooth, bronze-brown skin of his chest.
Long black hair clung to his back and fell like a dark curtain around his face.
And those eyes…
deep, emerald green…
fixed on her with an intensity that made her knees weak.
Su Qinglan’s fox ears twitched wildly.
Her heart pounded so loud she was sure he could hear it.
She swallowed hard and instinctively pressed a hand over her nose.
Oh no, I’m going to nosebleed… Because honestly, the man was carved like a sculpture.
Every line of muscle stood out, from his chest down to his abs…
eight perfect ridges of strength that looked unfairly real.
And just below that, where his waist should have been human, his form continued into a long, smooth snake tail, the same green shade as his eyes, shining like polished jade.
Su Qinglan blinked at him, completely stunned.
Why… why does this body look exactly like the man from my dream?
Her gaze darted back up to his face, and that’s when she saw them.
Red marks.
Right there on his neck, across his collarbone, even a faint one at the corner of his lips.
The shape looked far too familiar…
like bite marks.
Like someone had clung to him and left them there.
Her stomach dropped.
No.
No, no, no.
Don’t tell me… that dream wasn’t a dream?!
Her face turned white, then red, then white again.
Oh my god.
Did I actually… do something unholy with the landlord of this forest?
Her hands shook.
Her fox tail puffed out in panic.
I’m dead.
He’s here to silence me!
He’s going to seal my mouth so I can never talk about his shame again!
She wanted to faint.
Or dig a hole and disappear.
Or both.
“That damn Xuyu!” she screamed in her mind.
“He could’ve told me what I was doing!
Now I’ve gone and assaulted the landlord!” Her mind flashed back to the dream…
the cold touch of skin, the way she had clung shamelessly to him, the warmth of his neck where she had bitten… And now the proof was right there, glowing red on his skin.
Su Qinglan stared at him in horror.
He stared right back, silently.
His green eyes were calm, but there was something dangerous hidden underneath, like the still water of a deep lake concealing sharp rocks below.
Her fox ears twitched even harder.
Her tail trembled behind her.
Please, heavens, she prayed silently, save her poor life before the landlord eats her alive.
