Chapter 262: Chapter 262: More Dangerous Than a Seven-Strip King
Shi Feng’s golden eyes narrowed as he looked at the three of them. He was a Seven-Strip King; he wasn’t afraid of a “gang attack,” but he was observing something else. He caught the scent of all three males on Su Qinglan.
So, these are her beast husbands? Shi Feng thought, a sneer forming on his lion face.
They are all weaklings compared to me. How can a female this precious be protected by such low-level males?
Su Qinglan really felt like she was going to faint. She had hoped that when Han Jue and Rong Ye arrived, they would be the “voice of reason” and pull Hu Yan back. Instead, they just joined the fight!
“Are you serious right now?!” Su Qinglan yelled, her face red with frustration. She looked at the three of them…a tiger, a wolf, and a fox…all ready to pounce on the man who had just saved her life.
WHERE IS THE DECENCY?
WHERE ARE THEIR MANNERS?
She really wanted to cry. Why did they have to act like this? It wasn’t like she was doing anything wrong with The Lion King! He was just helping her!
“Stop it! All three of you!” she screamed, stomping her foot in the mud. “He saved me from a venomous snake! If he hadn’t caught me, I’d be bitten or face-down in the dirt right now! Is this how you treat my savior? By ganging up on him like a pack of wild dogs?”
Rong Ye paused, his fox ears twitching. Han Jue’s growl softened slightly. They looked at the crushed snake corpse on the ground that they hadn’t noticed before.
Shi Feng stood his ground, his massive golden mane dripping with rain. He looked like a mountain that couldn’t be moved, staring down the three husbands with pure, kingly disdain.
He didn’t even shift back to human form; he just waited to see if they were actually stupid enough to attack a Seven-Strip King over a misunderstanding.
Su Qinglan was beyond frustrated. She stood in the pouring rain, looking at the two giant tigers and wolves, the beautiful fox, and the massive golden lion, and she felt like she was babysitting a group of overgrown, angry toddlers.
She was speechless. She really wanted to smack all of them! They were acting so strangely, baring their fangs and growling as if they were in a competition to see who had the loudest voice.
Su Qinglan’s face went pale. No matter how much she yelled or waved her arms, none of them were actually looking at her. They were too busy having a “macho” standoff.
She looked around and saw that more and more beastmen from both tribes were surrounding the area. The lion warriors were starting to gather, their eyes narrowing as they saw their king being threatened by three “local” beastmen.
This is a disaster, Su Qinglan thought, her heart racing. If a real fight breaks out, the Lion Tribe might leave the mountain. If they leave, my mission is ruined! I’ll never get those beauty kits or the rice!
The thought of losing her shampoo and soft dresses made her snap. She wasn’t going to let these “stupid cats” ruin her hard work.
Hu Yan, still seeing red, didn’t notice the fire in Su Qinglan’s eyes. He let out a low vibration in his throat, his muscles bunching as he prepared to barge straight past her to attack Shi Feng. He wanted to show the lion who the real boss of this mountain was.
But he never got the chance.
Just as Hu Yan moved forward, Su Qinglan lunged. With a speed no one expected from a pregnant female, she reached out and clamped her hands tightly over Hu Yan’s massive tiger jaws.
The entire clearing went dead silent. Even the rain seemed to quiet down.
Hu Yan was stunned. He was a giant, powerful tiger, yet here was his small, delicate mate, literally holding his mouth shut with her bare hands. He blinked his big tiger eyes, his golden pupils shrinking in surprise.
Su Qinglan didn’t let go. She leaned in close, her face inches from his furry nose, and glared at him with a look so terrifying that even the big mighty tiger took a step back.
“If you dare take one more step forward,” she hissed, her voice low and dangerous, “forget about ‘touching me.’ Forget about dinner. Forget about sleeping in the bed. You will be sleeping in the mud with the insects!”
She turned her glare toward Han Jue and Rong Ye, who were still in their beast forms. “And that goes for you two, too! Shift back! Now!”
Hu Yan felt a shiver go down his spine. He had never seen Su Qinglan this angry. Her tiny hands were surprisingly strong, and the warning in her eyes told him that she wasn’t joking. If he didn’t behave, he was really going to get beaten by her later.
Slowly, the tension began to drain out of his body. He let out a small, submissive whimper through his closed teeth.
Behind him, Rong Ye and Han Jue immediately tucked their tails and started to shift back into their human forms, looking like kicked puppies.
Shi Feng watched this scene with wide, shocked eyes. He had never seen a female dominate a group of powerful males so easily. He looked at Su Qinglan with a new sense of respect.
Su Qinglan didn’t let go of Hu Yan’s mouth.
The big tiger was completely bewildered, his large nose twitching under her palms. He looked at her with wide, confused eyes, his throat letting out a muffled whimper.
In his head, he was screaming, “But Lan Lan! This stinky lion touched you! Let me bite him just once!”
But Su Qinglan wasn’t having any of it. She glared at him so hard that Hu Yan felt a cold chill run down his spine. He realized that if he kept trying to fight, he wouldn’t just be fighting the lion…he’d be facing the wrath of his mate.
And honestly? The lion was less scary than an angry Su Qinglan.
He silently shut his mouth, his ears flattening against his head. He cared more about his wife’s happiness than his own pride.
If she said stop, he would stop…even if it meant letting the “stinky lion” win this round.
