Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Stove is hiding something!
Under the shattered remains of the giant rock, a small, cozy burrow was revealed. Tucked away in that hole was a very familiar, very leafy figure.

Rong Ye, who was still fuming from the rabbit’s footprint on his face, froze. He squinted his eyes, looking at the spiritual plant that was currently trying to blend into the dirt.

Even if Rong Ye was fast asleep or blindfolded, he would recognize this “green enemy” anywhere.

“So, here you are hiding!” Rong Ye barked, his wet fox ears twitching with irritation. “You haven’t returned home for days. I actually thought some wild rabbit had finally eaten you and turned you into fertilizer. I was almost ready to throw a feast to celebrate!”

On the other hand, Stove was absolutely furious. He had been minding his own business when someone blew the roof off his house.

He was ready to whip whoever it was into next Tuesday. But when he saw it was Rong Ye, he became so shocked that he even forgot to move; then only he snapped back and glared at this fox, his leaves slumped in a mix of anger and sheer annoyance.

Stove realized right then and there: as long as this fox was alive, he would never have a peaceful life. Never.

Rong Ye leaned down, poking at Stove’s leaves with a muddy claw. “Why don’t you come back, huh? Or did you find a new family? You’ve been gone so long I bet Lan Lan has already forgotten your name.”

Stove stiffened like a pine tree in a winter storm. If a plant could curse, he was currently calling Rong Ye every name in the book…this idiot… Stove thought, his vines trembling with rage.

Rong Ye grew suspicious. “What’s with the silent treatment? Did I hit the nail on the head? Ahh, so you did find a different family!”

“You bastard! You spent months eating all the good items in our house until you became so fat you could barely drag your own leaves around, and the moment you get a little bit powerful, you run away to find a better deal?”

Rong Ye’s sarcastic comments kept coming like a landslide. “What? Is our soil not premium enough for your royal roots? Is the water too plain? You ungrateful weed, I should just pull you out and feed you to a goat right now.”

Stove couldn’t take it anymore. He had a limit. One of his long, sturdy vines whipped out of the burrow like a lightning bolt, and SLAP! It hit Rong Ye right across his smug mouth.

“You…!” Rong Ye staggered back, clutching his face. “You actually slapped me! That’s it! You’re coming out of there right now!”

Rong Ye lunged forward, reaching his hand into the small burrow to drag Stove out for a proper fight.

He expected the plant to come flying out, but Stove was acting strange. Instead of fighting back with all his vines, Stove hunkered down, squatting low and spreading his leaves wide to block Rong Ye’s view. He was resisting with a desperate kind of strength.

Rong Ye stopped pulling. His fox instincts, usually useless, finally kicked in. “Wait a minute… you’re hiding something.”

Stove’s leaves shook. He tried to push Rong Ye’s hand away, but the fox was now on a mission. “Move aside, you overgrown weed! What is in there?”

The two of them began a frantic struggle. It was a chaotic mess of fox fur and plant vines. Rong Ye was growling, and Stove was hissing (or making the plant equivalent of a hiss).

Finally, Rong Ye managed to shove aside a few smaller rocks that were tucked deep inside the back of the burrow.

The moment the rocks moved, Rong Ye froze. He became as still as a statue.

Inside the deepest part of the burrow was another plant, and his intuition was telling him it is not a normal plant just by the small movement. It is a spiritual plant.

But this one was different. It was smaller, with delicate green stems and a very beautiful, glowing flower blooming at the top. The flower was trembling, its petals fluttering in fear as Rong Ye’s giant, wet face loomed over the entrance.

Rong Ye’s eyes widened until they were the size of dinner plates. “Another spiritual plant?”

He looked at the tiny, trembling flower plant, then he looked at Stove, who was now standing tall with his vines crossed, clearly very angry and almost wanting to skin him alive.

“Wait… is this your new family?” Rong Ye blurted out, his voice cracking. “Is she… is she your wife?!”

Stove didn’t say anything, but he didn’t have to. He puffed out his main stem and nudged the flower plant protectively, giving Rong Ye a look that clearly said: Yeah, I’ve got a girl. What have you got? Oh, right, a footprint on your face.

Rong Ye was absolutely speechless. He felt like he had been hit by a lightning bolt. Here he was, the “most handsome” fox, struggling to get some attention from his female, while the household plant had gone out and successfully started a secret romance in a hole under a rock.

“You… you lucky bastard,” Rong Ye whispered, feeling a strange mix of betrayal and respect. “You didn’t run away. You went on a honeymoon!”

Stove’s leaves fluttered with pride. He looked at the muddy, wet, and pathetic-looking fox and seemed to vibrate with laughter.

Rong Ye sat back on his haunches in the mud, the rain still pouring down. He looked at the two plants huddled together in their burrow and then thought about his own situation. He was wet, he was tired, he had been kicked by a rabbit, and now he was being out-flexed by a weed.

“Fine,” Rong Ye sighed, wiping the mud off his nose. “But you’re bringing her home. Lan Lan is going to lose her mind when she sees you’ve brought back a ‘daughter-in-law.'”

Stove seemed to consider this. He looked at his flower-wife, then back at Rong Ye. Finally, he gave a slow nod. He has already planned too.

Rong Ye picked up the burrow-base carefully, making sure not to hurt the “wife,” and started the long walk home. He couldn’t wait to see the look on the other husbands’ faces. After all, he was bringing home a whole new family member.

“Just wait until Han Jue sees this,” Rong Ye muttered to the plants. “He thinks he’s so smart, but he didn’t find a female plant in a rock, did he?”

Stove just shook his leaves, clearly enjoying the fact that he was, for once, the most successful male in the group. As his vines circled around the little female plant.
