Chapter 244: Chapter 244: Hu Yan’s Advice
After everything finally calmed down inside Bai Ling’s house, Su Qinglan knew it was time to leave.

The cries of newborn cubs had softened into quiet, sleepy sounds, and Bai Ling lay resting. Her fox husband stayed beside her like a guard dog, unwilling to move even a step away. Lin Muyu and her mother were busy, the room warm with relief and happiness.

Su Qinglan stood up slowly, feeling the tiredness catch up to her all at once.

“I’ll go back now,” she said gently. “I’ll prepare some medicine for Bai Ling later. Something to help her recover faster.”

The fox husband immediately nodded, his eyes full of gratitude. “Thank you,” he said sincerely. “We’ll be waiting.”

Su Qinglan glanced at Bai Ling one last time. The female was asleep, her face pale but peaceful, three tiny lives now tied to her heartbeat. Su Qinglan smiled faintly, then turned and stepped outside.

The heat hit her immediately.

The sun had not fully set yet. Just as she expected, Han Jue was standing outside, leaning casually against another tree, looking like he had been waiting there for a long time.

When he saw her, he straightened slightly. “Done?”

Su Qinglan walked toward him and smiled. “She gave birth to three.”

Han Jue blinked. “Three?”

“And one of them is female.”

For a moment, Han Jue froze. Then his eyes widened slowly, and a big smile spread across his face.

“A female…” he repeated softly.

The two of them stood there for a second, both imagining the same thing. A future that felt suddenly brighter.

“That’s good,” Han Jue said finally. “Very good.”

As Su Qinglan and Han Jue walked back toward their home, the news spread faster than wildfire.

By the time they reached the middle of the tribe, everyone already knew.

“Did you hear? Three cubs!”

“And a female too!”

“It’s been more than ten years!”

“No, thirteen… maybe fourteen!”

People gathered in small groups, voices full of excitement. Some were already discussing gifts, others arguing over what would be most suitable to bring when visiting Bai Ling after a few days.

For almost a year, there had not been a single new cub born in the tribe. Everyone had been tense, worried, and restless. And now, three at once.

And a female.

It felt like the whole tribe had been injected with energy.

When Su Qinglan finally reached home, she felt exhausted.

She changed her clothes, washed herself quickly, and sat down heavily. Hu Yan had already prepared food for her. Just as she picked up her bowl, she suddenly paused.

She looked up at Hu Yan.

“I haven’t seen Rong Ye since morning,” she said slowly.

Hu Yan stiffened immediately. Their eyes met. Then he glanced toward Han Jue without saying a word.

Han Jue shook his head slightly.

Hu Yan understood.

“No,” Hu Yan said quickly, forcing a smile. “He’s around.”

Su Qinglan frowned slightly but did not press further. She was too tired to argue, and honestly, Rong Ye throwing tantrums was not exactly new.

Meanwhile, outside.

Rong Ye had been sulking for a very, very long time.

He sat on a stone, arms crossed tightly, ears drooping, tail flicking angrily behind him. No one had come to look for him. Not even once.

The sun had already started to dip, and still nothing.

Did Su Qinglan not wake up?

Or worse, did she wake up and not even ask where he was?

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.

“She doesn’t care at all,” he muttered. “Not even a little.”

He clenched his fists.

He even imagined himself beating Han Jue. Then immediately imagined losing. That made him even angrier.

With a loud huff, he finally stood up. “Fine,” he said to himself. “If no one cares, then I’ll go back myself.”

As he passed by the other house, he glanced inside briefly. The female they had rescued earlier was awake now. She sat quietly, always silent. Rong Ye and Hu Yan had taken care of her while Su Qinglan was busy, but she still had not spoken much. Just nodding, just staying silent.

Rong Ye snorted and continued on.

When he entered the main house, the first thing he saw was Su Qinglan eating calmly.

She looked up.

“Oh,” she said naturally. “Rong Ye, you’re back.”

Rong Ye’s ears immediately shot straight up, stiff like antennae.

He turned his head away and did not answer, pretending to look outside.

Su Qinglan blinked.

“Rong Ye?” she called again.

Still nothing.

She tilted her head, completely confused.

“What’s wrong with him now?” she muttered.

She reached out and poked his arm.

At that exact moment, Han Jue kicked Rong Ye lightly on the foot.

“She’s talking to you,” Han Jue said. “Are you deaf or what?”

Rong Ye exploded.

“What does it have to do with you, you bastard?” he snapped, claws appearing instantly as he raised his hand threateningly. “Stay away from me, or I’ll claw your face!”

Han Jue growled back, eyes narrowing.

The air instantly turned tense.

Su Qinglan jumped up in shock. “What are you doing? Why are you baring claws inside the house?”

She rushed between them and pushed them apart.

Rong Ye immediately turned away again, sulking even harder.

Then suddenly, he grabbed Su Qinglan dramatically.

“Lan Lan!” he shouted loudly. “You’re evil. Cruel. You even mated with Han Jue. What about me? Am I not your husband? Don’t you accept me?”

He sounded heartbroken, but there were no tears, only heartache in his lonely heart.

Su Qinglan froze.

“What?”

She stared at him in disbelief. “What nonsense are you talking about?”

“You are so cruel!” Rong Ye continued angrily. “You don’t treat me as your beast husband.”

“No, no, that’s not like this. I felt if you were freer, it would be much better. You are still like a child,” Su Qinglan said, but she suddenly felt something was very wrong in her words.

She had actually meant to say that if he became more mature, it would be better, but was he not already mature? Was she not indirectly telling him that he did not have a brain?

Hu Yan, who had been quietly watching, suddenly chuckled.

Han Jue snorted.

Rong Ye felt like someone had poured a bucket of cold water over his head.

A child?

His soul shattered.

He stared at her, completely speechless.

Child?

Him?

A grown, strong, dignified beastman?

Compared to a child?

His pride was crushed into dust.

Su Qinglan immediately realized something was wrong.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” she asked carefully.

Rong Ye turned away again with a loud huff, sulking even harder.

She tried to coax him.

“Alright, alright, I didn’t mean it like that…”

He got angrier.

“I don’t want to talk!”

She touched his arm. He moved away. She sighed.

“This is exhausting…”

Rong Ye heard that and got even angrier.

But suddenly, his world tilted.

Something grabbed the back of his neck, and before Rong Ye could react, his feet were already leaving the ground. He yelped as he was dragged across the floor like an unruly cub.

“Hey! What are you doing?” he shouted. “You cannot drag me like this!”
