Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Xuyu is hiding something?
“Lan Lan… please wake up…”
Their voices echoed faintly, but Su Qinglan couldn’t hear them anymore.
Because in the next moment, she was suddenly pulled into a dream.
A dream that felt like a place she had lived in all her life, even though she didn’t remember ever seeing it before.
She was standing in a small wooden house, sunlight pouring through the windows like warm honey. A gentle breeze entered from the open door, carrying the smell of grass and flowers. Something was boiling softly in the clay pot, filling the air with a delicious aroma.
She was cooking and humming softly, a tune she didn’t even know she knew.
Everything felt peaceful. Until something tugged lightly at her leg.
She gasped and quickly looked down.
A tiny baby arctic wolf, white as snow, with big round eyes the exact same color as hers, was clinging to her dress and nibbling at the fabric as if trying to get her attention.
Her heart melted instantly.
She bent down and scooped the fluffy baby into her arms.
“Oh, my little one, are you hungry?” She whispered, pressing a soft kiss on its forehead. “Mama is cooking for you, hmm?”
The baby wolf yipped happily and pawed at her cheek.
She laughed at his silly behavior.
“Where are your brothers?” she asked as she carried the baby in her arms and stepped outside.
And the moment she walked out of the house…her breath caught in her throat.
Because in the endless green field outside, three little children were running around and laughing. Three cubs… they were beautiful, lively, and full of smiles, playing happily with each other.
They were in human form.
One child had striking red-orange hair and bright, fiery golden eyes.
Another child also had red-orange hair but a softer, warmer face.
The third child had jet-black hair, pale skin, and a calm expression, though he still giggled when his brothers pulled him into their games.
Su Qinglan blinked.
“Are they… Hu Yan’s cubs?” She whispered softly.
Her dream-self smiled with so much affection.
Then she looked at the cold little boy with her black hair and cold emerald eyes. He was an exact copy of Xuan Long.
“Ah… he must be Xuan Long’s child,” she murmured. “Oh my… they’re all so cute…”
The baby wolf in her arms squirmed suddenly, wanting to go play too. She placed him down gently, and the tiny creature immediately bolted toward his brothers, rolling into the grass and making all of them laugh louder.
Su Qinglan placed her hand on her chest.
Her heart warmed.
“Oh… my babies… why are all of you so cute?” She whispered, smiling until her eyes watered.
Her dream-self walked toward them, playing with all the cubs. They jumped on her, tugged her hair, asked for kisses, and fought to sit in her lap. She giggled, kissed their cheeks, and hugged each of them tightly.
Everything felt perfect. But then she suddenly froze.
“Wait… I see Hu Yan’s cubs. I see Xuan Long’s cubs and even Han Jue…” She frowned softly. “But where is Rong Ye’s cub? Did… did I not give birth to his child…?”
Just then, something moved in the corner of her eye. She turned slowly, and her eyes widened.
There, sitting lazily on top of Xuan Long’s little boy’s head, curled up like the laziest creature on earth, was a tiny white fox cub.
With a round fluffy tail, long pointed ears, and half-closed eyes that looked sleepy and mischievous.
Su Qinglan’s heart squeezed.
“Oh… there you are,” she whispered, walking closer.
The little fox cub opened one eye lazily. Then it sniffed the air.
Then both eyes flew open wide… they were a beautiful violet shade, just like Rong Ye.
And the moment it recognized the scent…the tiny fox let out a proud little chirp and jumped straight into her hands.
Su Qinglan’s heart melted instantly.
“Oh my goodness… look at you…” she whispered as happiness filled her eyes. “So cute… too cute…”
The fox cub snuggled into her palms, curling up like a warm ball of fluff.
She kissed its tiny forehead.
“I bet you took all your cuteness from your mother,” she murmured proudly. “Not from your silly father…”
She giggled softly as the fox cub flicked its tiny tail and climbed into her arms, purring like a spoiled baby.
She played with all her cubs for what felt like hours. Laughed with them. Kissed their cheeks. Held them close.
She felt complete.
But then…the scene suddenly blurred.
The sunlight faded. The field disappeared. And she was back inside her home.
She was sitting on a low bed, cradling a small baby in her arms.
The baby was crying loudly, tears rolling down its cheeks.
Su Qinglan panicked for a moment.
“Hush… hush… don’t cry…” she whispered softly, rocking the little one gently.
The baby sniffled, looking up at her with big, watery eyes.
She kissed its forehead gently.
Then, instinctively, she lifted her clothing and held the baby close to feed it.
The baby latched immediately, suckling eagerly, tiny fists waving in the air.
Su Qinglan felt her heart warm in a way she couldn’t explain.
“Whose baby are you…?” she wondered softly.
“You’re not a beast cub… Beast children are born in beast form… So who…?”
Before she could finish the thought…
Strong arms wrapped around her from behind.
A warm chest pressed against her back… A deep, husky voice whispered in her ear:
“My heart…”
She froze. Her breath caught.
Her dream-self didn’t turn her head.
She simply relaxed back into the man’s arms as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
But Su Qinglan, watching through her dream, knew the truth.
She did not know this man at all. Neither did it belong to one of her four husbands.
So who is he…?
She couldn’t see his face. She couldn’t turn around.
She could only feel his warmth as he held her and their baby, whispering soft words she couldn’t fully hear.
The moment felt so real.
The baby suckled happily in her arms while the man rested his chin on her shoulder, watching their child with soft, loving eyes she couldn’t see…but she could feel.
The warmth around her grew. Slowly, the dream faded. Her breathing steadied as her body relaxed.
Outside the dream, her fingers twitched slightly.
Inside the treehouse, Han Jue, in his wolf form, felt her body warm against his.
He sighed softly in relief.
Rong Ye wiped his eyes and leaned closer.
Hu Yan grabbed her hand tightly.
When her face slowly gained color again, Han Jue transformed back, pulled her into his embrace, covered her with his arms, and held on like she was the most precious thing in the world.
Hu Yan also lay down on the other side of her, embracing her.
Rong Ye squeezed himself between Hu Yan and her, wrapping his arms around her belly protectively.
Finally… finally… the storm didn’t feel as frightening anymore.
And somewhere deep inside the system’s space, the system, Xuyu, whispered a long, shaky breath.
“Thank goodness… she calmed down…” it murmured. “I thought she would break… I had to put her into a dream to soothe her heart…”
“Her reaction was just like that…even though she forgot everything…her soul still remembered…but no, he wouldn’t let her remember those ugly memories.” Xuyu thought with a determined expression.
He looked at her sleeping face in relief.
“She must stay safe… she must stay peaceful… for her sake… and for her cubs…she deserves this.”
